      @Imperious:

      Those paints are like 6 buks a can… If you go with krylon you got a huge can for 3 bucks.

      Also make sure the paint is specifically for plastic.

      True…  they are expensive.  BTW, you use the same krylon for the metal pieces of Skytrex\ GHQ etc…?

      Getting Krylon spray here in the Netherlands is not that easy,  :? I’m thinking of using Tamiya spray for the job. See here for a list of colors;
      http://www.rez.nl/tamiya/tam_85000.html

      For Russia TS-1 Red Brown or TS-33 Dull Red
      For Germany TS-4 German Grey
      For Italy TS-32 Haze Grey
      For Japan TS-34 Camel Yellow
      For UK AS-15 Tan
      For US  TS-5 Olive Drab
      For China TS-3 Dark Yellow
      For France TS-10 French Blue

      any suggestions on the choice of colors??

      Italy National Advantages  (Revised list)

      1. Piggyback Tech
      Italy shared the accomplishments of German scientists during WWII.
      On the turn after Germany obtains a given technology, Italy gets it as well.

      2. Gustav Line
      Hitler ordered a final defensive line south of Rome to protect the “soft underbelly” of Europe after Africa fell to the Allies. The Gustav Line, or the Winter Wall, held off many Allied amphibious landings. During any amphibious assault against Southern Europe, all your infantry there defend on a 3 during the first cycle of combat.

      3. Desert Tracks
      Italian tanks were inferior to German and Allied ones. However, they were lighter and could travel the desert with ease. Italian tanks may blitz through Sahara. They must both enter and leave Sahara in the same turn. They may never capture the Sahara, and they may not retreat into this territory.

      4. Blackshirts
      Black divisions were paramilitary organizations that were used to spread terror across Southern Europe. Once per game, if your capital gets attacked by at least one ground unit, you may place 2 infantry there for free before the Conduct Combat Phase.

      5. Elevated Ground
      Southern and South-Eastern Europe was scattered with mountains and high elevations. This gave many advantages to artillery especially Italian mountain guns. Gebirgsjägers–mountain troops–were the only ones besides aircraft who can operate on these conditions. Your artillery in Southern Europe and the Balkans defend on a 3.

      6. Regia Marina Italiana
      Once per turn, one surface warship (BB, DD, CV, and CA-- if using optional units) can be purchased for 2 IPC less than cost.

      7. Home Defence
      Every Italian or German INF unit in the first round defending in Original Italian territories get a +1 defence modifier

      8. Mediterranean Express
      This allows Italy to move 1 infantry to Libya during non-combat movement. You need to be in controll of Libya.

      9. Afrika Korps
      Place 1 INF, ART, ARM in Libya for free during your mobilize new units phase, if you controll it.

      10. Untrained Forces
      The first time Italian forces meet a given Allied nation in battle, the Italians choose the order of loss for the Allied forces (this is designed to foster a “Kasserine” style result in Italy’s first encounters with enemy forces).

      11. Frogmen
      The Decima Flottiglia MAS was an Italian commando frogman unit created during the Fascist government. This rule allows 1 infantry to attack 1 Allied surface naval unit that is adjacent to an Italian held territory-containing infantry (Italy specifies targets). Infantry rolls normal attack (1 in 6) and if successful sinks 1 allied ship. Such attack precedes normal attack round. Failure is loss of Italy infantry.

      12. Fascists friendship
      If you controll Malta and Gibraltar, Franco of Spain will join your side. All Spanish territory, troops and IPC go directly to Italy.

      13. Balkan support
      During WWII Hungary, Romania and in lesser amounts Bulgaria supported the Axis forces with man and material.
      Once during the game, if in controll of the Balkans, you may place 1INF, 1ART and 1ARM for free.

    • RE: AARHE: Phase 3: Revised NA's

      Do we also need to get around 15 NA’s for Italy? That might be difficult…

      9. Afrika Corps
      Allow any German units sent to Africa to become Italian upon landing, and be immediately usable by Italy

      +++ This one, is not really much of a NA in AARHE, because they already can perform combat together, if wanted.  So maybe change it to.  Place 1 INF, ART, ARM in Libya for free during your mobilize new units round, if you controll it.

      This will be a very strong NA, if your German Ally also has his Africa Corps NA in use…

      Paint some German infantry. In the late 30’s Germany provided most of the china infantry equipment. See also here; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:NRA_Germandivs_inspection.jpg

      Further I only know that there are some plastic molds on the market of chinese korean war pieces. You could use those also…

    • RE: AARHE: Map files

      the TP (transport plane) is missing on the dog fight battle board. should be at 1 defense. The JET fig is missing on the ground board, and the JET Bomber is missing on both. well also missing on the navy sheet.

      We still haven’t setup Mechanized infantry??? While the Halftrack piece is on the ground attack board. I think we should have this as an optional piece.

      Mech. Infantry  Move 2, Attack 2, Defend 2, May blitz with tank. Give ART a plus 1 movement modifier. ??

      I had already made comments on the DIV missing on the Ground combat board.

      Maybe minor issues, but still  :-P

      16. Pocket Battleship
      “Battleship Jr” ?
      Designate one tank unit and it attacks at a 5 and defends at 5.

      ++++ huh? a tank?  this idea is basically to create the graf spee problem its something that was better than a cruiser. It could only be allowed if not using the optional units.

      I think, this one should go. I like the idea, but like you already say, with the Cruiser already available as an optional unit, i don’t see this NA being any good.

      @Imperious:

      21. German Infrastructure
      As with the way your justification text put, as with the Russian rail…there needs to be some way to destroy it. Maybe it is destroyed by SBR attack larger than a certain no. of IPC in one turn?

      If any SBR attack on Germany, then only half of the stationed ground units get a +1 movement modifier. If SBR attack is higher then the territorial income value, then no movement modifier.

      @Imperious:

      22. German Propaganda
      Specify the territories involved.

      Maybe reduce it to the territories of Western Europe, Scandinavian and Balkans?? Otherwise maybe to strong…

      @Imperious:

      so then no changes even with austrailia?  france/vichy?  finland/norway?

      I think yes, no more changes. But only because it seems to be decided that no extra units are inserted into the setup, even though there’s more territory to defend…  So. if no more units, then is OK IMO.

      Like you said, Norway needs that fighter, and Western Aus doesn’t need a garisson… Vichy was still really Vichy in June 1942, so no German troops necessary. (also the allies can’t invade it, and germany does need Western protected)

    • RE: HAS ANYONE PLAYED THIS MAP?

      @cyan:

      How does oil work. i read the whole rulebook but it did not say how you would use the oil you collected.  :?

      Here it is explained; (copied it directly out of the house rules file for this map)

      _4.5. Movement

      The movement of mechanized units (i.e., all units besides infantry, industrial complexes and anti-aircraft guns) requires oil.  The movement of all mechanized land and sea units costs one oil unit per space moved, while air units (fighters and bombers) may move up to two spaces at a cost of one oil unit. Unloading a tank from a transport costs one oil unit.

      Example 1: During combat movement, a German tank in Poland moves through Germany to attack France.  Since this tank has moved two spaces in one turn, it uses up two oil units.

      Example 2: During combat movement, a Japanese fighter in Korea flies through Manchuria and attacks Hopeh.  During non-combat movement, it flies back to Manchuria to land.  The fighter has moved a total of three spaces.  The first two spaces cost one oil unit, and the last space also costs one oil unit, for a total of two oil units.  Had the fighter decided to land back in Korea–for a total of four spaces moved–the cost would still be two oil units, because the plane can move up to the two spaces for each oil unit._

      I think it’s clear enough?

    • RE: AARHE: Map files

      I think you did a great job on those boards!  But… the land combat board is missing the Dive Bomber, which is especially noteable on defense because the DIV is at 3, 2, in ground combat instead of the FIG 3, 4. You did put it on the Air combat board.

    • RE: AARHE setup issues

      I think southern Europe should not be left empty in the option with Italy. There should at least be 1 inf.

      I still like the idea of  15 ipc for each player at the start of the game, to spent on optional units. Realistic or not… Btw i doubt that it isn’t because for example cruisers were used allot in WWII, so they should be there at start. Though i also see your point…

    • RE: AARHE setup issues

      I think, that at first it was agreed that the territories that have been split in more territories, don’t get extra units to setup. But it is up to the player to divide them over the territories. This means that the normal setup units of Norway have now to be divided over Norway and Finland.

      But I think it would be better if “we” come up with pre-setup for all territories including the new ones. Also I like what IL suggested on giving each player an amount of IPC at the start of the game to purchase optional units, if it’s decided to play with them.

      Maybe Risk was in my mind, but no, I just let my imagenation do its work…

      I think they are OK, but indeed to powerfull. Your idea to use it like the Italy NA could work.

      Maybe reduce the free infantry to a max of 3 in the propaganda NA? But to be placed at the players wishes, but only one per territory.

      Infrastructure idea something usefull?
