    • RE: Sealion ,how many moves can it be done in ?

first of all i would like to say, its good to be back!!! boot camp sucked. 8)

now, on to the matter at hand……

Sealion is an accomplishable objective. However, it must be done early. Otherwise, the UK can build 2 INF + whatever each turn, and by the time you take out Russia, its a veritable fortress. The way this is accompllished is by the debatable German carrier. Get one out from the med and the UK will have no choice but to send its fighters after it. If the BB from the Med survives the initial battle, this is even better. send whatever subs you have surviving to use as cannon fodder against the UK planes, and start shipping over as many tanks/INF as can be spared from the eastern front. If the UK does become an impregnable fortress, you can always pull a shot against North america, landing whatever force you have availiable there to help distract the americans from the battle in the pacific.

    • RE: The Most Devastating Event to Nazi Germany

i’ve gotta go with the Battle of Britain here. Hitler had his sights right to start with but then changed them at a critical moment. the Luftwaffe had crippled the RAF near to the point of defeat, but then Hitler ordered the transitioning of his attacks to civilian targets far from the RAF airfields. Thus giveing the RAF much needed time to recuperate and retake the skies. by doing this, Hitler allowed massive Air losses to the British and gave them ample time to construct defenses against the impending Sealion.

i like the idea, but it needs some tweaking. seem like right now, it just makes it too easy to bitch slap a country.

ok, any idiot foolis enough to getinvolved in a land war in Russia/Asia is just begging to get his ass kicked. there’s just way too much space out there to get lost in. not to mention all the cough cough willing soviet infantry. im mean, come on. how stupid can you get? if he ever decided to invade russia, and thats a pretty big if, he should only hve done so after conqering the UK. fighting a two front war is also never a good idea…

    • RE: How much do you bid?

SUD is right. if germany is getting that many IPC’s as a bonus and just buys ONE unit, there is somehing severly wrong with them, they coulve spen it on:

      2 fighters
      4 tanks+1 inf
      8 inf
      3 trannies (for attacking UK)
      3 Subs

or any combination of the above.
basically, one battleship is not going to be enough to swing the game in germany’s favor.

i gotta go with either Russia or Germany. first of all, giant border clashes are fun, and these two sure have a lot of them. both are fighting a two front war from the start and have to be able to take one of the fronts out before they can concentrate on the other. being able to think “3 dimensionally” is key to victory. although, if youre not playing RR, the game can be over for germany in a few turns.

    • RE: Germany powerful plunge into Russia

ive tried this once or twice before, and both times germany got burned. the brits did nothing but buy INF the entire time, so when i was ready to attack the UK they had +40 INF. meanwhile, the US just started building trannies and fighters and shipped them over, my luftwaffe was able to take out the trannies every turn, but their fighters kept taking out mine. eventually i lost my luftwaffe while trying to build trannies to attack the UK. soon the US trannies started bridging UK INF over to E/Eur and took Germany. the only way this can be accomplished is with a strong N/American presence by Japan to distract the US. which is rare in its own right.

    • RE: Industrial Complexes or Transports for Japan?

keep the trannies japan has to start with in the japan sea and use them to ferry troops across to secure Manchuia’s borders before building an IC. you can either conquer the territories around Manchuria, or simply stack it up.

i’d have to say germany or russia. first of all, i love giant battles and these two always have them. germany is fun cause you have to break out to get a decent game in. and russia gives a player the most chalenge fighting a two front war from the first turn.

Good times…I programmed a few things into the 83 myself, the most complicated was a simple RPG-all it had was fighting and buying stuff. Not very good but pretty good considering I never looked at the instruction manual, I think.

ive got a friend who lived on his calc. he’s programmed a casino program with black-jack, roulette, and a pointless version of Russian roulette. all you do is hit enter repeatedly until a random integer coding picks #1 (choosing 1-6). then a pic comes up of a russian solder bloswing his head off. its pretty funny and fun to pass around a group.

he even spent 2 months in junior year working out a text-based version of RISK. every country was listed and assigned a #. he actually managed to write in a decent AI. it was awsome. took a million years to play though, i dont think he’s finished a game yet.

TI-86 eh? Good one, I only had the 83 for my Pre-Calc class. If I remember correctly from the original, the lines on yours seem to be the same, but the scoring is probably different, because my old records were like 300,000.

yeah, i gotta love my calc. its helped my keep my sanity through many a boring class. once the games got dull i would head into graph mode and draw famous landmarks/skylines.

      what settings/cheats do you use?

      i like 1st to 5/license to kill

      DK mode
      turbo mode
      infinate ammo sometimes

ive got the starting sequence memorized for the temple and most of it down for Eqypt and caverns.

i usually play with this guy from my school, but since i moved we dont get to. we would run each weapon set once, then again w/o inf ammo and keep a running score. we’d do the same on Super Smash Bros. for 64/cube

    • RE: Japan Strategy poll

i usually head for the mainland, while trying to keep a naval force to combat the US defensively. alaska and hawaii are also viable source of income for the japanese, and they can fluster the US player a little bit as well, since most american’s arent used to losing territory.
