    • RE: Which country has the coolest looking Special-Forces?

      @El:

      My vote goes to the Syrian Crack Suicide Squad(am I remembering my Monty Python’s ‘The Life of Brian’ movie correctly??).

      I believe they belonged to the Judean People’s Front…at least if you’re talking about the guys who ran in front of Brian on the crucifix and stabbed themselves.

      @cystic:

      Bahhhh that’s EUROPEAN history man! Why would Americans study EUROPEAN history?

      Quite.

    • RE: Risk Sucks

      Alright, it’s true I haven’t played RISK in a while, but then again I haven’t played ANYTHING in a while, so I would take RISK if I could get it. the thing is, no matter what game I play, someone always has to have luck in such amounts as to make strategy entirely worthless. I’ve seen it happen too many times (not enough in my favor) :wink:

      @Kobu:

      You are obviously new to this. Everyone knows the Brits crumble under pressure. Their hands will be shaking so badly that there is no way they’ll be able to roll under a 5. !

      Indeed? One of the legends of my gaming group concerns an anonymous limey soldier named “Scuba Steve” who, in the process of defending Syria against Nazi aggression, managed to dodge battleship bombardments on not one, but TWO consecutive turns, then destroying the amphibious assaults that followed these bombardments. He was only killed when the furious German player ordered a flight of Luftwaffe to bomb the sh*t out of him and was never heard from again. 8)

    • RE: Question: Strategic bombing raids.

      @dezrtfish:

      And you have to take two shots of Rumplemints Peppermint Shnaps. Thats the way I heard it anyway.

      According to the A&A drinking game I found, (I forget where) it depends on which country hits you with the SBR:

      Russia: Vodka (of course)
      Germany: Schnapps
      England: Guinness, etc.
      Japan: sake
      U.S.:Jack Daniel’s
      Hope this helps :P

    • RE: Is it possible for Russia to build a navy and still win?

      first of all, it is pretty hard to get a Russian Navy in time to actually do anything, but that doesn’t stop us from having a good joke at its expense. the only time i had a Russian Navy was when i took out Germany and took out a japanese IC in Manchuria, then built a BB or two to take out Japan.

      as far as “badgering” by Japan in Mex/Alaska? that’s what? 3 IPCs? as long as they don’t get too much of a force there, it’s no big deal, and it keeps Japan from focusing entirely on Russia, which is always a good thing. :D

    • RE: Axis Strategic bombing Strategy

      as far as i’m concerned, a dedicated strategic bombing campaign by either side is a waste of money insofar as building bombers and then replacing any that happen to get hit. the only time i generally use bombers is when i can’t use them to support any other attacks i might be using. it is worthwhile if you can get in some free shots, e.g if an IC has no AA to protect it, but I don’t generally like to use my bombers like that.

    • RE: Retroactive Actions For Absent Minded Folks???!!!

      as far as failure to NCM or something of that nature, generally it depends on who’s playing. generally, someone in my gaming session acts as a stickler for rules (A.K.A asshole) and then does exactly the same thing themselves, for which I only say, they lived by the sword, and they died by the sword. Whatever you choose, be consistent and forceful about it.

    • RE: This game is not as unbalanced as you think

      i don’t know how everyone else is with the dice, but personally, i have noticed that some people tend to have infuriatingly good luck with the dice and so sometimes, luck turns the game. Otherwise, the Allies tend to win more often than not when i play

    • RE: Industrial Complex in India

      The thing to remember is that the easiest way for Japan to gain lots of cash quickly is Asia, which brings up two points on Allied ICs:

      1. By placing the IC, you can slow down the Japanese offensive.

      2. However, it’s too easy for Japan to take down an IC in India, leaving the only choice to be Sinkiang, which can only produce 2 units/turn.

      An alternative might be to evacuate the British units to Sinkiang, to allow a counter offensive to build up there. Any ideas?

    • RE: My starting strategies

      As far as putting pressure on Germany goes, it’s primarily a matter of luck and how the German player utilizes his production and forces. Personally, I believe it can be done, but I’d like to hear your strategy, unless it has to do w/ Russia attacking Finland/Norway R1.

    • RE: IPC Victory?

      All right, I am kind of new to this site, and some people are going to say this is stupid, but generally when I play, we only play up to a point where there is no longer a reasonable doubt as to the outcome. For example, if the Axis have conquered all of Asia and Africa, they could have an IPC victory, but if there’s still a reasonable chance of the Allies winning, we keep on going. Of course, that won’t happen when the Allies are winning, but c’est la vie.

    • RE: USA kunundrum

      Hey Kobu, since when does morale have anything to do with how the dice roll? Also, how is it that the US player doesn’t see this coming and put some infantry there? I’ll admit that it did happen to my friend once and I also didn’t see it coming, but it was also primarily a brilliant burst of insight from the German player.

      Hey, I didn’t know that was actually legal, but it’ll be interesting to add to my list of strategies the next time I get a chance to play.

    • RE: My turn 1 strats seem different than all the others….

      i really didn’t have to reply to this one, but seriously, how can you be so lucky? even the luckiest people i’ve played with wouldn’t dare that much. strategically, though, even if that did work i would buy all inf. instead of those armor because the krauts would likely be able to counterattack all those areas with the possible exc. of finland-norway.
