A related Question: During non combat, can air unts fly over enemy AA guns without being fired upon? I say the rules clearly state the guns are only used during the combat phase. This is a “classic” game.

KJF???
How to go about a KJF strat using 2nd edition rules,RR and no bid? My opponent usually goes heavy against Pearl and takes out China on J1. In fact, the last time he played axis he took out Sinkiang as well on J1.

RE: Spain as a staging area
By the way, we play 2ond edition, RR and no bid.

Spain as a staging area
I’ve never tried it, but I’ve been thinking about using Spain as a staging area for an Allied assault on Western Europe. The advantage being not to rely solely on transports. On turn 4 the UK and US could dump 15-20inf combined. Is this an effective tactic?

RE: Original game - Gotterdammerung?
I didn’t do it, but I won the game.

Original game - Gotterdammerung?
I’m playing axis and it’s Germany’s turn.
EE - 13inf, 8 armor, 5ftr, 1 bomber
Fin - 3inf, 1 armor
Ukraine - 2infKerelia - 27inf, 4 armor, 1ftr, 1 bomber, 1AA
Should I go for it!?
Other factors: Russia has almost nothing to counter - 1inf in Cauc and 1 armor in Russia.
The Brits have 2inf and 3 armor in GB with 4 trans and an AC in the GBsz.
The Yanks have 3inf and 1 armor in WE with 3 trans in the WEsz.
The Yanks also have 1 tran and a couple of tanks and inf. in EUS.
Germany has 10inf in Germany.
It may be 3 or 4 more turns ( 2 if I’m lucky) before Japan is knocking on Russia’s door. -
RE: Rule Question about attacking Hawaii on J1?
If you’re playing the original game the fighter on the carrier can make it to Hawaii. On the non-combat move the carrier moves to the Hawaii sea zone to pick it up.

RE: Axis & Allies rookies need your help!!!
I say let the India trans go to aus. If the UK transports it’s inf. to India or wherever Japan can usually counter and Aus is easy pickings.

RE: Rules and/or tactics
OK TBB, ther are a few sights that offer tactical insight. Do an axis and allies search to find these. Look for Don Rae’s essays if you have some time on your hands. Silex offers a good map. Also look in the games section of this site to see how some experienced people play. Some of the posts in player help and axis and allies could be useful. Have fun!

G1
How about this one.In a nonRR game what does germany do on t1. Assume USSR has taken either Ukraine or EE with most or the rest in Karelia. Yhe Allied player is pretty good but not expert.

RE: Techs???
I just finished a game where at the end Germany had just been conquered, but Japan was still strong with 55IPCs. Japan rolled fot tech with 11 dice rolls. Only one 6! Ended up with jet power. I could have protracted the game and maybe won with incredibly lucky rolls. But I conceded. Starting a new game would be more interesting. I have only played six games. This was the first time anyone tried tech. It’s a big gamble. It’s fun to try though.

RE: A quick question
Out of all of this I would like to address MC’s question about when and where to place an IC? I am a relative newbie but i have extracted much wisdom from internet sites and played a few of them out. In a non Russia Restricted game, I have been succesful with Britain placing an IC in India. To make this work Russia should attack Manchuria with 5 inf 1arm and a fighter from Russia. Britain should reinfoce India by moving it’s transport to the Red sea picking up 1inf from Egypt and 1inf fron Syria to India. move the Egypt tank to Persia. Fly airforce to russia. Use thi force in Asia to thwart Japan.
Another option is for the UK to place an IC in South Africa. This might be good if germany has taken Egypt on t1. This might help the UK keep control of Africa with the US landing in Algeria. If japan is wise they might take your IC later. But allof this helps Russia.
As Japan, buy transports before ICs early in the game. Go hard in Asia especially US China on t1 and Russia. Try to get your IPC level into the forties before thinking about an IC. Then possibilities include Burma India or South Africa, which I have done in a recent game.
In general, ICs are expensive and must be well defended. use them to project power where transports or other assets can’t reach.
Also remember ther are exceptions to every rule. The mind is like a parachute. It works best when opened.
