I’m afraid I’m not helping your project all that much; I’ve been playing like a jackass :lol:
I did the same thing, before the league started. I played about 6 games as the Allies with no bid, to try to gauge how much I really needed the bid. As a result, I’ve taken bids as low as +7 because I now feel, with no bid, I can hold my own against somebody playing pretty well and can beat somebody making a costly mistake or two.

RE: Which Nations should buy Cruisers?
This notion of the cruiser as a powerful unit that adds punch is a fallacy. 3 destroyers costing 24 IPC provide the same amount of “punch” on offense and defense in the first round of combat as do 2 cruisers costing the same amount. And the destroyers are better in subsequent rounds of combat as casualties get taken.
The cruisers you start out with? Yes, they are a more powerful unit than a destroyer. Because they’re free.
If you’ve got 12 IPC in hand, and you’re not defending the water on the IC on that turn, buy the destroyer. Then next turn instead of having 12 IPC in hand again, you’ll have 16. And buy 2 destroyers. As my post above illustrated, 3 destroyers are better than 2 cruisers as efficient naval combat units.

Go ahead and start the battle. I’ll start with the chinese infantry and add on losses depending on how many hits you get in round 1. You should average about 7 hits. But if you get 5 my answer might be different than if you get 10.

I never get to play the Axis. I hate dancing around those things when I’m the Allies. It’s nice to play with them as the Axis for once. :-D
They are able to be what somebody (Garg, maybe?) calls a “shadow force”. They’re in one spot, but they multiply your force in several possible locations; they might be headed to one location in my mind, but the opponent has to plan that they can turn up where he wants to be, too. They’re an initiative-robber.

The rule referenced above is known on the Larry Harris Game Design website as the “you know it’s really easy for the USA to capture Norway; the game is broken if we let the USA build 10 guys on Norway every turn from US6 until the Allies win the game” rule.

Hahahaha! Actually, DOW on France is independent. The choices are USSR, UK and Anzac, USA, France. And the only one that affects any other one is that a DOW on UK and Anzac gets the USA in the war.
Hirohito decided that his life would be easier if Germany wasn’t dead by turn 6. :lol: He was promised all of Asia by Hitler. Hitler’s probably good on his word, right?

I can undertstand how “one complete round”, might be enterpated as; one round, from the start of german turn, till the end of france.
that way, if italy captured the last city on I9, they would win at the end of FR10.

No, the game would be over after UK10. And If Japan captured the needed VC on J7, it would be over after R8.
Cow is right. Everybody goes after the turn with the final VC. If that same country (that captured the winning VC) comes up again and the correct # of VCs have been in your hands for the whole time, Game Over.
