    • RE: The "right way" to play Germany

I believe 1 fighter a turn is a good strategy because it puts pressure on the allied fleet which is essential to an allied victory. This buys you time, and as you know, time is money. Once the fleet is sunk, you have lots of time to take on Mutha Russia.

    • RE: Whose boss in the sea?

The best is 1 BB and one Carrier escorted by 2 fighters….and a DD! If you can have a couple of transports with tanks ant infantry, well, it helps. :D

    • RE: D-DAY Question

Even with a quick reaction, I think the allies would have pulled off a successful invasion. Heavy panzers were no match against air superiority. And I think the operation was worth it, to win WWII and to keep the Russians at bay…

    • RE: Arty Support

The art must be in the same zone than the attacker and attacks also as a separate unit at 2. Say you attak with 2 inf and 1 art. You would then roll 2 dice at 2, and one at 1.

    • RE: Fighters in SBR's

use the Pacific dogfight rules. One pass, attacking fighters attack on one, defending fighters attack on two. After that one round of combat, bombing commences

I really like that one AK….

I hope it will cover all the aspects you think are unrealistic about the game. (A&A revised forum)… :D

    • RE: What do you think is the most/least realistic about A&A?

I’d like to play a 10 times more complicated Axis And Allies. And the stuka is a bomber, not a fighter.

I think kamikazes should attack at 5. I don’t like heavy artillery.

When you surface a sub after having lost a sea battle, what happens?

    • Battleships, AA guns and Opening fire step.

I understand that AA guns and BB’s shore bombardments fire during the Opening step. But do they fire on each round of combat or only on the first round?

      Thanks!

Precision: I always played that they fire on the first round only.

    • Help me with the sub rule

In the revised edition, the subs can “dive”. I never fully understood that rule. What happens after a submarine dives? An example would be appreciated :D .

Not bad, but I think that infantry includes all that (officers, snipers etc…) when they roll their regular die.

    • SBR's as NA's?

I was unable to sleep tonight and suddently an idea came to my mind. I don’t think the game truly reflects the importance of SBR’s. Superfortresses were primarily designed for strategic bombardment, not tactical battles as we always use them in the game (or do we….hummm?)

So, I thought of the following rule:

      Strategic bombing raids
The mighty 8th air force conducted tousands of sorties against German industry throughout the war, inflicting considerable losses to the Reich’s economy.
For every bomber present on the United Kingdom territory, the German player must surrender 2 IPC’s from his money to the bank at the begining of his turn. This rule is similar to the “U boote interdiction” rule. Bombers can conduct tactical battles as normally but they must land on UK territory for the rule to take effect on the next turn.

Mr Andersson, I really like the SBR rule. I thought about something similar before reading your rule. I think this rule should be included in retail A&A games… :D

I’m a bit surprised of the poll’s results. I thought we were all “geeks” here. I expected axis’s score to be a bit higher…

and i don’t really have the time to write out all those house rules. also, i doubt anyone wants to read something that long. i wouldn’t.

      I would :D

    • RE: Nuclear weapons

Why was my post moved anyway? Can’t we adapt the rules to A&A revised?

The question came to my mind after I saw the modified rules from W@W. Since nukes were used in WWII, I thought it was possible to include them in A&A. But I think we would need very strict rules that would make them very hard to develop, like duke said.

Bill, I think your idea is great and it reminds me of the WAW rule on SS panzers….except they defended on a 5 or less.
