    • Magnetizing Problems

      Several months ago I stumbled across Panzer Painter and Chad’s examples of what they’ve done with their pieces and it inspired me to paint my own. I’d also seen that people had magnetized their Aircraft Carriers, Tac-Bombers and Fighters. As well as mounted their Heavy Bombers on little platforms. In my opinion, absolutely brilliant. I looked over all the topics here and couldn’t find a ‘how to’, so I ask, how the hell did you do it?
      I’ve tried 2 methods: Firstly, Magnetic adhesive tape, problem I had with this was that I couldn’t cut it to fit the tops of my AC’s in a way I liked, or found appealing. I couldn’t make it look like anything but half-assed and amateur.
      Secondly, Magnetic Paint, Problem I had with this was that I couldn’t get a strong enough connection between the top of the AC and the plane bottoms. I’m thinking the problem is surface area with some of the fighters. The can said it requires 3 coats to get the proper effect, I stopped after 7.
      Can anyone save me some time and tell me how they did theirs? And equally important, where they got what was needed. I haven’t experimented with the Heavy Bombers yet because I’ve been busy painting, as well, frankly pretty disappointed that I haven’t made the AC’s turn out how I want. But I’m also not sure what method to use to do this either. Some look like a simple rubber half sphere, the type of thing you would see under a glass table top, with a finishing nail driven through. Others I’m not sure. But if anyone could shed some light on this it’d be much appreciated as well.

      Sincerely,

      These will be the last set I need 🙂 I’m all done with the rule changes, setup changes and the nitpicking. Game set, match.

      I was wondering what prompted this idea? I couldn’t find any background in this thread or the orignal Delta thread, just wondering what the wrong is that everyone’s attempting to right.

      @94Canuck:

      Thanks guys, they are re-vamps of the Alpha 2’s so no real graphic changes, just content.

      That’s exactly what I was hoping for. What do you think is the best way to actually use these addons? Ideally I’d like to have them as similar to what comes in the box as possible but I’m not really sure how to get it done. Take it to staples and have it printed and laminated? Simply print it and glue to a piece of cardboard? I’d like to have how they’re displayed befit the quality of your work.

      @94Canuck:

      Alpha 3 charts will be posted today.

      Excellent! Haven’t been dissapointed yet with your work, don’t expect I will be this evening when I get to take a look at them.
      Thanks again for doing all the work so we don’t have too, it’s appreciated.

    • RE: AAG40 FAQ

      @Gamerman01:

      @Young:

      When ships are able to disrupt convoys, must they? Or is it the choice of the player who owns the ships, to refuse to disrupt convoys if they wish?

      I’m not up on the Alpha3 changes, but up until then if ships were in position to disrupt convoys, there was no choice.  That is, yes, if ships are able to disrupt convoys, they “must”.  But I haven’t even read the Alpha3 changes yet.  If it’s just a change in methodology (people are talking about dice rolling!?), and if there is no statement saying that actually raiding convoys is an option of the attacking player, then I wouldn’t think the answer to your question would have changed.

      I always assumed it was the players discretion. I wouldn’t want to find myself declaring war on a nation simply because my ships are in his convoy space. I don’t see anything in the OOB that suggests they’re obligated to make those attacks. I don’t see anything that says they’re optional either though.

    • RE: AA.Org Official Alpha 3 Thread

      I’m working on building a gaming table for Global, each country has 4 compartments (one for Land, Air, Naval units, and a misc. box for AA Guns, NB, AB, IC’s and grey/red markers) and a recess for the game board itself to sit in. When not being used I’ll put the top on it and it can be used for other things. All black cherry stained mahogany. Once I get my units painted and sealed I’ll have a setup that should survive me :).
      The toggle switches are an interesting touch, would be a lot of wiring I would think. You have different colors for every territory? Or just an Axis controlled, Allied controlled and a neutral?
