RE: Wondering about historic accuracy of Axis victory conditions.
So, my question is, if this situation were to occur back in the 40s, do you think it would have been an actual win for Germany and Italy? Would the Allies had sued for peace with Germany or kept going?
I am thinking that the US and UK would keep going. The US already has a strong fleet in Gibraltar so Sealion can probably be prevented.
If Russia would have actually fallen during the war, would the Western Allies have sued for peace?
As far as this game is concerned, I think that if we kept playing this out the US would eventually win. As big as Germany is right now, it would still be hard for them to keep resisting the US advances and fend off forces from India and ANZAC. Then again, a strong Italy might make the difference.
So what do you guys think? Would this situation be an actual victory? OR, just a victory for game purposes? It would depend on the year in which the Soviet Union fell. If it was in 1941/42 at the height of Axis power in Europe and the Atomic Bomb years away then yes I think they would have sued for peace.
If it was post 1943 when the US and Comonwealth forces where finally getting up to speed in terms of technology and battlefield tactics when who knows.

RE: German bomber strategy - How to play and How to counter
With all these Bomber buys with Germany. Where are the Ground troops to build its economy and push into USSR? SBR on Russia IC’s is fair enough but surely the Germans are going to lose bombers to AA and Soviet and Allied fighters intercept. Am i missing something?

RE: Dice or Low Luck??
I choose LL because it better shows the apparent skills of the player(s) and how effective a strategy can be. Losing when u have overwhelming odds in your favor and winning when you have crap odds ruin the game for me.
I beg to differ. A skilled player must know his dice. If you play LL the computer did the job, if you roll dice you must know when to gamble, when to stop and when to walk away. Dice takes more skill and knowledge than playing the dull LL. IMHO.
I agree. When you roll dice you play the opponent. When LL you play the dice. Big difference.

RE: Dice or Low Luck??
I chose dice, personally I just love to roll dice. Battle calculators, LL and all the calculations that go into the game are great tools and useful to help you get better. But for me the game was and is designed to be a board game, not a computer game. Invite some buddies over have some adult beverages, talk some trash, have a great time playing the game. If “getting screwed by dice” really upsets you I can understand the LL route, it just makes it boring and scripted for me. We instituted a house rule where each power gets a set number of battles they can use LL on to appease the LL person in our group. Seems to work nicely. Dice can be upsetting but that is the beauty of them IMHO. I would know I also play Star Wars Miniatures and those dice will drive you mad!!!
This is interesting, i might put this idea forward to our group when we get together again.

Dice or Low Luck??
Ive been away from the game for a while but would like to get back into it once again.
I have been reading the new stratagies and methods by which players are winning games or not… Some of them seem tacticly sound and orthodox, other are just, well to me, down right crazy and i cant for the life of me, see how these stratagies would work. however, Im not going to name names or slate peoples ideas or tactics, therefor my question is this
How many people play dice?
How many people play Low Luck?I cant help think that these “crazy” stratagies are successful because they have been calculated using logic and Math i.e the low luck system.
In my opinion the Low luck takes the excitment out of the game and is frankly unrealistic as warfare is unpredictable and fluid.
Dice all the way!!

RE: Building mIC's in both Egypt and Persia?
@Sire:
I play very often with a friend who is very effective at defending Egypt. He build an Egyptian IC UK1. He also brings the loaded indian TT+navy and the loaded Med TT to Ethiopia. The Indian air force goes to Brithish Somaliland. All this stuff goes to Egypt UK2 with the surviving Maltese planes and three new infantries. The BB follows next round with the remaining indian airplane. And just in case, he places two loaded TT in South Africa to take back Egypt UK3. Most of the time, it’s enough to stop the Axis or discourage them (Me!) to go for for Africa/Middle East.
Does Japan not exploit this tactic by the British Player? Turn 1/2 DOW and the Japanese have the DEI and bonus objective by turn 2. Potentially India falling by turn 4/5 with the huge IPC income?
