    • RE: Was the Sherman Under-rated?

The Sherman as an effectice anti-infantry tank, it woul send most germans running for the hills, unless he had a pazershrek, then it was game over :-P. When it cam down to armor vs armor it would usually take the Shermans 2 tanks to destroy every 1 panzer, and i there was a Tiger involved the Allies were flat out screwed.

    • RE: "Iron Bear" scenario for AA50

this scenario sound pretty good and sounds like it could be fun to play but I have 3 questions
      1. What was the Allied bid?
      2. What was the turn limit?
      3. Were there any changes in placement?

    • RE: OK, OK so we've been playing AAA, so who has been winning? Axis or Allies??

most of the '41 games i’ve played in end in an allied victory, mostly because the UK player defends each and every one of his territories to the last man and gets a 50+ IP income every turn. The one game that the Allies lost was when Japan went full into tech turn 1 and snagged jet fighter and long range aircraft, which was more r less game over for the Allies. :x

    • Freak situation

during a six player game i was playing as Russia on turn 6 Germany take The UK in an amphibious assault, Britain forfeits all of its IPCs. On The next turn during the noncombat move phase I move one of my factories and 3 inf. into persia using the mobile industry advantage, taking Persia in the process and now owning it.  On the US’s round they liberate Britain. The rules say that Britain should get Persia Back, but what happens to the factory?

    • RE: Which would have been a better Ally to Germany?

definitely Turkey, new front on the middle east and Africa as well as a flanking position on Russia

Simultaneously would work best so it shatters most hope for  a counter-attack

You guys keep talking about shipping  AA guns to allied territories, but doesn’t that change the owner ship and cancel the tech?

Soviets: stack Infantry along the german line, send tanks into China
British: All efforts go into Africa, eventually invade Italy
U.S.: Stack troops in UK for direct assault on Berlin FTW

    • RE: Should Germany take Brazil G1?

      @grimace:

I don’t see why the Brazil is not used more by the US player.  In our games US almost always moves to Brazil Turn 1 and uses it for a staging area for the rest of the war.  It’s two spaces from Northern Africa, Southern Africa and France.  There would be no way the Germans could take Brazil, and hold it let alone us it for an invasion of the US if this strategy is used.

That sound all well and good but it mens that you’re making the east coast itself much more vulnerable to invasion

    • German Navy Builds

In most games the German Baltic fleet gets blown to bits on B1, with the exception of a  few subs that get picked off any way. Which rises the question:Should the Germans spend their IPCs on a naval campaign?
Feel free to add any opinions, build suggestions, strategies and tactics.

you cold pull it off G2 if you can spare the transport, and if your u-boats shut down the Americans enough that they cant take it back

    • RE: China wall strategy:

Moving so many infantry from Russia into China may help the Chinese out a bit, but you can’t forget that the Russians have to deal with the Germans Knocking on Moscow’s door b turn 2-3. Plus, In most games I play the Brits build an IC in India and flood troops through there in order to take mainland Asia

    • RE: UK ICs

I started I topic like this a while go and ultimately came to these conclusions

Africa: Most of the countries have too small IPC values, are in danger of being captured by the Italians, or are too out of the way, also the Americans usually start to land men in Algeria turn 1

Middle East: IPC values are way too low to make an IC worth it

Australia: It serve as a decent Naval Base, its hard to mobilize land troops though……

India: Probably the best choice, Decent naval base, you can flood ground troops into mainland Asia, as long as you stay defensive B1 you can use China as a distraction, and start sending your tanks rollin’ through

    • RE: Turn 2 D-day gambit, terrible idea?

I cant see that being all too effective because even with a German player who is completely focused on Russia, such a small force in france will just serve as a minor distraction

    • RE: Race to Moscow

whenever I reluctantly play Russia for the first few turns a build purely infantry, this serves  a major speed-bump on the Germans normal KRF strategy

    • RE: Mass American Landing on Japan

I’ve never played a total victory game with AA50 ( i usually play to 15 VC) so I usually ignore Japan itself and go for its islands, then encircle it to stop any threat.

    • RE: AA50-1943

the problem i would have with a map like this is hat the Allies are overpowered.  Historicaly this is when the Axis were just starting to get their butts kicked by everyone at this point and i couldn’t see how you could avoid the same situation(in the game) this late in the war.
