    • RE: Favorite WWII Ship

      Bismarck’s sister ship Tirpitz was badass too. It had taken over 40 attacks from British forces. In the end, when all else failed to sink her, the British had to get inventive:

      Only the massive 20ft tall, 12,000lb “Tallboy” bombs, which traveled faster than the speed of sound, capsized Tirpitz. Those babies left craters 100ft wide and 35ft deep!

      Here’s the links to the mod files:

      Graphic Mod:
      https://www.mediafire.com/file/wgu6dhc34gi52b6/world_war_ii_v3-master.zip
      Link no longer works. See updated link below.

      To install, just overwrite the file ‘world_war_ii_v3-master.zip’ in your ‘downloadedMaps’ folder with this one.

      Sound Mod: (optional)
      https://www.mediafire.com/file/lgz5koe276p44a9/sounds.zip
      No longer necessary. See updated link below.

      To install, unzip ‘sounds.zip’ and replace the ‘assets/sounds’ folder with this one. Note: you should delete the existing sounds folder and replace it with the new folder. Do not just overwrite the existing folder.

      You should backup your ‘world_war_ii_v3-master.zip’ file and ‘sounds’ folder in case you want to revert.

      To continue my thought. Have the soldiers carrying flags using iconic images of the war.
      USA Marines on Mt Suribachi. U.S.S.R soldier planting flag in Berlin. Japan. Soldiers waving arms up in triumph around the rising sun. Germans. Soldier goosestepping with  banner.  Italy and Britain I will have to think about. France waving a white flag. Just kidding. What do you think FMG.

      If you’re really passionate about it GoSanchez, you might give it a go yourself. With Google Sketchup and Shapeways you can make your ideas come to life. It’s the future now, we can do cool stuff like this.

      Bismarck escorted by Graf Spee

      Badass ships. I’ll build them and I’ll be pissed when they quickly get sunk.  :-D

      @FieldMarshalGames:

      They made it just a bit to small.  I wanted it slightly larger as it was a HUGE monster of a tank in real life.

      Damn straight it was! That behemoth will be menacing on the game board.

      @knp7765:

      So the 2 tanks sculpts are Tiger I and Tiger II?  No Panzer III?  Aw shucks.

      Bravo FMG.

      @knp7765:

      I’m surprised you went with the Stuka and Me109 (since WOTC went with those models).

      I’m not surprised. I am extremely pleased however.

      @knp7765:

      Still, YOUR Me109 looks incredible.  The current ones will look like blank generic planes next to them.

      That’s why I’m not surprised.

      Usually to get what I want, I have to do things myself. In this case, FMG is making all the right moves for me. This is sweet!

      @knp7765:

      Is that a Deutshland class pocket battleship for the heavy cruiser piece?  Extremely cool.

      Yes, Admiral Graf Spee!

      @knp7765:

      It looks as though you stuck with the Graf Zepplin for the carrier and Bismarck for the battleship.  That’s good.

      That’s better than good!

      @knp7765:

      These look a lot nicer and more detailed than WOTC ships.  I was originally planning on getting the black Germans to supplement my current pieces, but now I am leaning toward getting the grey and simply replacing my WOTC pieces.  The FMG pieces will have so much more detail.

      Good to see some of you coming around already!

      @FieldMarshalGames:

      The FIRST Germany Units will be Grey

      I still think it would be cool if FMG came out with a Heavy Tank set for all nations after all the country sets are complete.

      Exactly. There is no reason why FMG should stop making models. They’re doing a phenomenal job at it.

      @lnmajor:

      Hey WOPR,
      If you choose not to use your WOTC pieces anymore thats fine, but many people on this forum, including myself will want to combine both sets for maximum capablities. if FMG doesnt offer GERMANY in black as an option, I would really have to reconsider if I want to purchese all these pieces to reconfigure my present game. Im kind of sick of spraypainting whole sets of pieces.

      The color debate has been settled so there’s no need for ifs. FMG has already decided to do Germany in black and gray.

      Just kind of in disbelief that some of you guys WANT to combine the pieces. It’s seems completely wrong to me.
