The only time I would attack KArelia is if the Russian player is careless and leaves it lightly defended or the Japanese player has already cleaned up six or so Russian AP. Not sure what a bid is.

If I can interpret this the way it should have been typed: Not only content to advocate purchasing only tanks, you now suggest adding air to that? If we’re still talking about Germany, there’s no way they can be adding air to their forces in the early game, and besides, their starting Luftwaffe should be plenty.
What’s Germany doing on the U.S. West Coast? I’ve never seen a game where that could happen, although East Coast is possible, just not easy to hold for long.
Those Russian planes aren’t worth taking risks with… even if you pump UK and USA planes into Russia for defense later, in the beginning those planes can make a big diff on the Eastern Front (vs. Japan) esp if Japan is trying to go all out on Russia and knock on the back door.
On the contrary, thug, the Germans need their Med. navy as long as possible to build defensive might in Africa. The longer they hold Africa the greater their income and the more successful the Germans will be.
