This is great news. I can’t wait to see what tweaks they made if any. And I think they had to modify the box, it heavily featured a Sadam look alike and the WTC.

RE: Most decisive battle of the Second World War
After reflection I would say Pearl Harbor was the most decisive battle. Without Pearl Harbor America doesn’t enter the war for another year or more if ever.

RE: House sub rules
I like it, but you better trust the other guy not to cheat

RE: Global 1940 Cold War goes Hot Scenario
I would recommend 49-52 as you can have ussr and usa with the abomb and keep the hbomb back as a tech roll.
other techs I would recommend are icbms and early warning radar.
Cuban missile crisi i would reject based on the info from the site below: u.s. 24k warhead ussr 4.2k. Little too lopsided.
Otherwise I would go modern when both Russ and US have under 3000 active warheads again

RE: Sattelites
I made a custom map for a modern era game based off classic axis. I need sattelites for space based icbms as a technology.
(along with stealth, unmaned vehicles, national missile defense, etc.0 I have the dishes from fortress america pulling duty as early warning radars. The buck rogers sattelties always looked more ground based to me. like the Ion cannon in Empire.currently I have counters which work fine but want to upgrade to plastic if possible.

RE: Nineteen Eighth Four
Great idea one of my fav books growing up. I dont know if eastasia is too small, area wise it may be sdmalle but it contains some of the most populous regions of the world , large portions of India, China, Japan, the Koreas.

RE: How do you make those maps?
First time I did a custom map that’s exactly what I did, buy a world map and territory borders. You could try to find an loder copy of photoshop like ps 6 or 7 for much less than the current gen.

RE: How do you make those maps?
My maps aren’t as advanced as IL’s but for the first one I used photoshop, picked the map size i wanted and used out line maps of the continents. You can download a trial version of photoshop at adobe.com buit a permanant version runs more than $600.
I would recommend downloading a map you like the looks of and playing around with it on photoshop. The mopre complicated the map the more than goes into it.

RE: Future peices
I think he meant in a game taking place in the future or today. In either of those cases I think helicopters would be a must and dspeed boats would be needed for the navies of small regional powers like North korea, or Iran.

RE: Lets Talk Partisans!
I disagree with the sentiment that Partisans can’t win hold territory. For examples I would point to Afghan resistance to the Soviets, the later taliban rebellion and assumption of control or even the the way the disjointed Somali warlords were able to hold out against u.N. intervestion.
Currently there are the obvious problems in those same parts of thee world, and even the trouble with the mexican drug cartels. -
RE: New CHIPS for AAA games?
I’ve already been using multiple colored chips.

RE: Nuclear Technology
I’ve been using nukes in Axis since 1985 with a few different rule sets.
I think wiping out every unit in a territory is a quick workable solution but may be a little heavy handed. It’ll take a lot of 20 kiloton fission weapons to wipe out every military unit in Germany or the Eastern U.S.
I peronsally lean towards more complicated rules, allowing for reaction launches and rolling and attack against each unit. For example hitting Kaerila in 2nd edition at the start you roll attacks against each unit, the industrial complex and a.a. gun. It also does permanant damage to ipc value of the territory.
This is meant for a more modern conflict where each strike represents a large number of weapons. For a-bombs I like the the Xeno games rule where it wipes out 20 ipcs worth of units.

RE: Test printing
IL: Thank you for your advice. I ended up buying a new printer that does do tiling. I’ll check out aaaflagbanner.com when I go to do a final print.
I was impressed with your english version of the Risk Napoleon edition map.

RE: Test printing
Wasn’t really what i was looking for, was more looking for help tiling the map onto regular paper in photoshop 7. that way I can make any changes that are needed before commiting it to print at $140 a pop. How are the rpices on AAAflagandbanner.com?

RE: Nazi Germany VS The Soviet Union
No contest, if you look at the amount of material sent to the U.S.S.R. by brittan and the United States which would not have been received and shift German production and manpower to the East and Moscow would have fallen quickly.
-
RE: What if?
I’d say the battle of Brittan. I think had they Germans been able to push the U.K. over the tipping point, if it reached the point where the German rais were not always opposed i think it would have crushed Brittish resolve and ended the European war for several years until the Germans or Brittish got into it with the Soviets.

RE: Modern Day Axis game
The tried back a couple of years after Axis with Fortress America. They took the safe route and set it in the “near future”. I think now would be a great time for a strategic level world combat game. Balance is an issue when one country has more than 50% of the blue water naval power, but clearly no country has a clear cut victory lined up via ground forces.

Test printing
I have a new custom map i wanted to test play before sending off and having printed and mounted. Does anyone know how to get a printer to split ups a large item say 30 x 60 to print in sections?
