I would like to see Italy at least get 12 to 15, but then you would have to change land values

RE: Your Japan Strategy
If you focus too much on the Asian continent, you can get allot of resources every turn, the downside is that you are leaving Germany high and dry. If all 3 Allies are going for Germany, they wont last long. Push on Russia but make sure you leave enough forces south to defend. Just your presence alone will rattle the Red Army and alleviate some pressure from Germany. If you have the chance to push south also, do that, just don’t forget to have a strong front in Russia that will make them want to pull to the other side of moscow.
I call this conservatively aggressive.

RE: AARHE: Phase 2: Neutrals
So, out of this, I think that maybe 2 infantry at least, one could possibly even be Russian, also Russia probably should not be able to invade Mongolia because they were in fact allies at the time. Is this too in-depth?

RE: AARHE: Phase 2: Neutrals
Hey guys, I researched this Mongolia issue and this is my conclusion.
During World War II, because of a growing Japanese threat over the Mongolian-Manchurian border, the Soviet Union reversed the course of Mongolian socialism in favor of a new policy of economic gradualism and buildup of the national defense. The Soviet-Mongolian army defeated Japanese forces that had invaded eastern Mongolia in the summer of 1939, and a truce was signed setting up a commission to define the Mongolian-Manchurian border in the autumn of that year.

RE: AARHE: Rule files
definitely put it at the start of the rule booklet, I’m pretty good with them but allot of people might see it as another language. Its coming along nicely by the way! :-o

RE: AARHE: Phase 3: Revised NA's
Well, if 1 side retreats, than x amount of units must stay behind, once this territory is liberated, the units kept as prisoners are freed and may do battle or non-coms on the next turn. How does this sound, just throwing things from the top of my head.

RE: AARHE: Rule files
Try not using the abbreviations as much, some people are not use to them and may fall on them as quite confusing.

RE: The Map Modification Question
Well, when we get to that point, I will post my variant for Italy that I have playtested over and over again and I have done away with all bugs. We should focus on getting the rules and other things of that sort worked out first, all the easy stuff can come later.

RE: AARHE: Phase 2: Neutrals
When a countries neutral status is violated, there would be some resistance met. People of the country would fight t back to some extent. So yes, that does seem logical to me.
Mongolia should be 2 or 3 territories signifying the rough terrain, or tanks can only move 1 space, we could say that the Himalayas may be passed over by aircraft or infantry. Infantry should get a movement penalty to move through as to difficult terrain, but Sahara would be too difficult to pass.
What do you think about the Allies not being able to violate neutral countries and what happens when the Axis do in my earlier post?
-
RE: AARHE: Phase 2: Neutrals
How about this.
The allies would not have violated any neutralities, therefor, only the axis can. But, if the axis do violate neutrality, then the ally that liberates it would controll it(signifying that the neutral country would join arms against the aggressors) until once again taken over by the Axis.
The Sahara and Himalayas were geographically impassible, however, the other countries were a political thing.

RE: The Map Modification Question
Do you want me to make it to your map, or to the Out of the box map?

RE: AARHE: Phase 3: Revised NA's
As for NA’s for china, they should get very few, and not that powerful ones.
Let me do a little research and I will come up with some.
-
RE: AARHE: Phase 3: Revised NA's
Well, Chinese should only be able to battle Japanese forces. The only exception is when the Japanese are on original Russian territories. So basically, the Chinese can only do battle on the Pacific coast and can’t run around and battle everyone they want.

RE: The Map Modification Question
Well put Imperial, you brought a tear to my eye, I am proud to be able to be a part of this project, thank you for allowing me to work with you guys.
On with the gaming! You asked me to make a setup change and it may be helpful if I was able to see the map if this was actually the map that we are going to include in our project. I posted a rough idea that had minor changes to few places based on the OOB board.
I know you already E-mailed it to me but I accidentally erased it. I could make the whole setup based on actual historical figures if you want me to. I have a stack of books including the economics, military strength and tactics of world war 2. If this is too far ahead of where we are at than that is OK, as there is plenty else I can do, but this could take a while. -
RE: AARHE: Phase 2: Units
Most of the unit changes are to accommodate the said map.
-
RE: The Map Modification Question
Well, there has been some talk about making minor map changes, with perhaps a marker or something of the sort, but we don’t have the rights to produce a whole new map.
-
RE: AARHE: Phase 2: Technology
Some technologies were sought after with great amounts of money to no avail. This game is suppose to be historical, therefor, spending enough money to automatically get a tech would not be historical.
Perhaps it could be a good idea for some very minor techs, like advanced infantry training or that sort, things that won’t drastically alter the game but would give a Nation a slight edge.

RE: The Map Modification Question
We are not actually making a whole new game, we are just taking the revised version and giving it different rules, we hope Larry Harris will look into these and give him some ideas, but we don’t have any rights to make an Axis and Allies game.

RE: AARHE: Phase2: Game Sequence
Another point of intrest is about the Russians doing there turn along with the other allies. When you think about it, the US and UK always worked together, and the Russians were always doing their own thing. I guess that the other allies not being able to go into Russian territories can make up for that, but do you think we should have the Russians go on a different turn at all times? if the turn sequence goes
R1 R2
Russia Axis
Axis Allies
AlliesThen the axis go twice in a row before Russia’s next turn.
From what I understand, this is the turn sequence. Wether it is or not, we should create a topic for completed ideas so everyone is on the same page, I have already said a few things that were already said and already incorporated into the project, there is just too much stuff to read now and this could be a potentially great way to stay organized. Just throwing out some ideas!RD

RE: AARHE: Phase2: Game Sequence
OK here is an Idea
UK gets 1 extra infantry and an armor in India, Japan loses its transport off of Kwangtung, or it gets moved along with the other Japanese transport.
Do you think it is necessary to reinforce the British fleet adjacent to India? If so, i would reccomend replacing the destroyer with a Battleship. The united kingdom had many different battleships across the world. Plus, it would make for a decent battle if Japan decided to attack the fleet. India is not as vulnerable and could prove to be too expensive to attack, and India wont be overpowering.
I would like to know what you think about my earlier post when I mentioned USA not being involved until 1943 or until attacked. Read it over and tell me what you think as it may spark another issue on setup. For now, India is the only place I seen that needed extra attention in setup.
