Last week I visited some remaining foxholes in Foy of the 506th AB near Bastogne. It was really a big distance between the treeline and the village as you see the episode of Band of Brothers where the soldiers cross the open field.
After that I visited the museum near Poteau wear the 14th Cavalry Group run into an ambush and where some famous pictures were made.(check the internet)
Really interesting and inspiring for making new diorama’s for playing A&A as I’m making my own diorama’s andn repainting the models in original colorsschems (after '43).
This spring I visited already La Gleize and Bastogne where I met 2 veterans of the 506th.

the best thing you can do is build up an army (f.e. German or US or both) and search on ebay for specific articles or lots.

I’m playing A&A mini’s because it is very easy to play also for children. You can buy the different tanks on the net or eBay.
I’m also repainting the tanks and making diorama’s to make it more realistic. I even add spotters with off board artillery and reinforced positions for infantry en artillery combined with self made barbed wire f.e.

If you look on the net you can find a lot off information and photo’s.

I agree the Germans had the best infantry because they took their own decisions, were motivated, had the best equipment,….
But the high officers were often afraid to take a tactical decision that was against Hitlers plans. Von Paulus he followed Hilter’s plans and ended up in a surrounded Stalingrad altough there were several attempts to liberate him, he never gave the order to break out.

Ok had a discussion with my opponent last night, when I was trying to eliminate his sniper. I couldn’t approach him so tried it tis way.
He was shooting all my SS panzergrenadiers and SS officers one by one.

Is there another way to eliminate those bastards?

When a Nebelwerfer uses the ROCKET SALVO against a target and a adjacent soldier is a sniper (with cover), can this sniper be hit or not?
Normally he uses his superior camouflage cover!

I’m making a scenario and own panorama for the Battle of the Bulge.
On German side the offensive was called WACHT AM RHEIN.There were 2 Armees:
      5th Armee
      6st SS Panzerarmee
            with main corps 1st SS Panzercorps wich included:
                                      3. Fallschirmjägerdivision (FSD)
                                      12. SS Panzedivision HJ
                                      1. SS Panzerdivision LAH (SS Oberfuhrer W. Mohnke)
                                                    composed out of 4 Kampfgruppen                                          (1 of them with Obersturmbannfuhrer J. Peiper)
This is the one I’m making. His route is going across the Ardennes and will be stopped by 119th US Reg, 30th USD and some Task Forces.

I will make the German army (+/- 600 pts) with King Tiger, Panther and Panzer IV and some StgIII. I will paint them in the original colors and give them numbers as they occurred on the exact place, for my battle will take olace in the region of Stoumont (Malmedy, Stavelot).

The American army will contain many Shermans M4A1, some M10 and Sherman M4A3 (105).
I also add a lot off recruits because in the Bulge many Americans faced their first fights.

The game will also be influenced by FRONTREPPORTS (weather, engineproblems, wrong roadsigns,…) and be played by 6/7 persons

I want to paint my halftracks and panzers but which decals do I have to use (size, scale)?
Is scale 1/72 to big?

I started this summer with a starter pack. Then I bought some boosters (39-45), but now I’m buying on Ebay.
This way you combine your own army,depending on the side you want to play.

Still looking for details about Bastogne??
