RE: NML 1914: 3 Americans (Centrals) vs 3 Brits (Entente) #2
Hi guys, forgive me this is my first time playing PBEM, so apologies in advance for any screw ups.
I’ve tried to get the dice server running but failing at the moment (see screenshot) so have used the internal dice server as I didn’t want to slow us down. If you feel you’re not happy and want me to redo the turn, I’m happy to do that, or if you want me to wait until I’ve sorted out what the problem is, happy to do that too.
I’ll crack on with the Arabian turn now.

RE: Dice error with the dice server.
I’ve been having the same dice server error despite having the latest versions of TripleA and Java installed, but have fixed it following @Panther’s advice. Here’s the process I followed:
- Uninstall TripleA from the Add/Remove Programs tool
- Uninstall Java from the Add/Remove Programs tool
- With Windows Explorer navigate to c:\program files\common files and delete the folder i4j_jres found there
- Reboot, cos you know, that’s a thing.
- Reinstall the latest Java from https://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
- Reinstall the latest TripleA from https://triplea-game.org/download/
That fixed it. It seems that when Java is uninstalled, it doesn’t clean up properly after itself. No doubt it thinks there’s a good reason to leave that i4j_jres folder hanging around.
Thanks for your help Panther. :the_horns:

RE: NML 1914: 3 Americans (Centrals) vs 3 Brits (Entente) #2
@Degrasse Re the dice server issue. According to Panther, even if you install the latest TripleA and the latest Java build, it still may not fix the problem, because an older version of TripleA created a local copy of the Java library which doesn’t get cleaned up even if you uninstall both.
I think I’ve fixed it, in that I can now successfully do a test dice roll. We’ll see if it’s properly fixed when my next turn comes round.
Here’s the process I followed:
- Uninstall TripleA from the Add/Remove Programs tool
- Uninstall Java from the Add/Remove Programs tool
- With Windows Explorer navigate to c:\program files\common files and delete the folder i4j_jres found there
- Reboot.
- Reinstall the latest Java from https://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
- Reinstall the latest TripleA from https://triplea-game.org/download/
If you’re still having issues, Panther seems to be the man to go to, which is jolly decent of him.
