    • Super Carrier, Jet Fighter sculps?

      So I like to use unique sculps for my special hose rules & tech units.

      My biggest problem with that is finding a sculpt for a Super Carrier that can comfortably fit three aircraft. The biggest one I have found is the Kostromitinova allied carrier from 1941. But even it is a bit two small, especially when you start trying to carry 1 or 2 tactical bombers (I have single engine naval bomber for all countries, so not trying to fit large twin engined Mosquitos or Hamptons). Has anyone else found a sculpt they like for this?

      Jet fighters are another sore spot. With HBG’s Amerika Meteor not being in stock for many months, I am hurting for appropriate allied jet sculpts. Yes, the P-80 works for America, but somewhat surprisingly it was little used outside the US. Any suggestions?

      Upscaled versions of any of our existing models I can certainly do.

      Radar AAA, I can attempt, but don’t hold your breath (any new model takes a significant bit of time to create and test before we can print it).

      Sounds good. I’ll give you a chance to fill out your naval series. As I would prefer different Allied vs Axis sculpts for the Heavy carrier.

      For the RADAR AAA, maybe something like the M51 Skysweeper? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M51_Skysweeper

      Japanese Naval units added;

      • Kaga Class CV
      • Ise Class BB
      • Akatsuki Class DD
      • Myoko Class Heavy Cruiser
      • No.13 Sub Chaser
      • Type C3 I-52 Class Submarine

      Could we get a slightly scaled up version of the carrier? Like 10-15%.
      Need a sculpt for Super/Heavy (3 plane) Carrier.

      How about a sculpt to use for RADAR AAA?

      Sizing has been removed from this post and updated in our web store on the page for each sculpt.

      Thanks. When you want a sculpt to use for a Heavy Tank, it helps a lot to know how the size compares to OOB units.

      But a planned offering of units that might compliment games OOB pieces.

      For example a set of light cruisers for 1940, or Heavy Tanks, or etc

      Its such a Hodge Podge of units from different eras right?

      11 models, 8 German, then this that and another… Very expensive hobby to do this sort of thing.

      Yes, my requests would be along similar lines. I like specific sculpts for special technology and/or house rules units. And this drives most of my buying of aftermarket units.

      But number 1, tell us the actual dimensions rather than just “approximately 20 x 10mm”. Because if both the French light tank and the French heavy tank are the same size, I won’t want them both. I might not want either if they are the same size as the OOB medium.

      My current biggest need/desire:
      A “Super Carrier” than can handle 3 planes comfortably (OOB carriers are too small/short for this).
      A RADAR guided AAA sculpt.

    • RE: [Global 1940] What do you use for new game pieces?

      1941 Also has some unique sculpts that are fun to mix in.

      In order of increasing cost:
      HBG A&A units (available by specific game so you get the right variation/version).
      HBG custom units (more detailed, may vary in size or color to OOB units)
      Pico Armor (pewter castings, not plastic)
      Tumbling Dice (pewter - the 1/600 aircraft work well as fighters & bombers)
      HBG 3D printed units
      GHQ (pewter)
      Shapeways 3D printed units

      HBG often has wrong color parts at a big discount if you are OK with repainting the units.

    • RE: Matching paints for AA OOB units

      I should note that I have units from Classic, Revised Edition, 1941, & 1940 with some significant color variations. So in some cases I may be matching a different edition. So for example, I think the early UK units are darker than my 1940 versions explaining why I choose a darker color. Plus with the cheap paint, I worry that the color consistency is less consistent bottle to bottle.

      When I indicate A + B paint colors, I mix then 1 to 1.

      @JustLuthor

      Finally another guy using the cheap stuff.

      What are you using for China & Japan (1940)?
      Here’s what I am using:
      ANZAC - AB Khaki (not a OOB match)
      China - CS Spanish
      France - CS Blue (a bit dark vs OOB)
      Germany - CS Stormy Grey (not OOB match)
      Italy - CS Grey
      Japan - AB Nutmeg Brown + Deco Art Paprika
      Russia - CS French Wine
      UK - CS Golden Brown (khaki is a bit too light to match OOB IMHO)
      US - AP Ivy Green + CS Golden Brown

      AB = Apple Barrel
      CS = Craft Smart

      I was trying to standardize my commonwealth/allied countries, so grey shades for Germany & Italy (plus I prefer the Classic A&A grey), tan variations for UK & ANZAC, and green shades for US & China.

      Looks like Tumbling Dice 1/600 scale aircraft are a decent option to fill any aircraft holes. But they run a little small, more Classic fighter size than the current A&A fighters. And for fighters, cost competitive with HBG. Twin engined heavy fighters like the PE-2, and the Ki-45 are a good match to the OOB P-38, but smaller than the OOB Mosquito.

    • Unit colors/customization

      I read somewhere there was a way to change the unit colors, but I have unable to figure out how? Can someone point me in the right direction?

      As custom painting the units is a popular pastime for the board game, can we do it with the computer units? This could help with the common issues of telling Cruisers from Battleships, and Tac Bombers from Strategic Bombers.

      Finally, can we change the basic unit shapes/sculps?
