It looks like the map only gives Japan 9 IPC for it’s NO of not being at war with the USA.

I dunno, it seems like there is no good way to allow Japan to attack on a variable number of rounds and to expect the US to leave their fleet vulnerable. You have to compromise between allowing both Japan and the US freedom to move.

The problem with startbursting out from the Carolines is that the Allies can block too much of your movement. It would be nice if to represent surprise Japan could move past enemy ships on the turn they declare against the UK/US. Obviously you’d have to do combat with them in any sea zones you stop your movement in.

You know you can’t be both. I get to atleast play Italy….just teasing, once you decide, feel free to either start a game if you want Germany or let me know and I’ll post a thread, if you want to be allies. Also, do you mind using the TMTM map?

Sure, I have no preference, so any is cool by me.

If Britain is willing to give up the Med, G-anything becomes a very difficult operation. I guess the benefit of taking the UK out of the game (in Europe atleast) can be worth the risk, but, I’m not sold on the concept.

    • RE: Pearl Harbor?

You can’t really do a sneak attack when the enemy see’s it coming. If you mass up in force the US will likely move to the west coast. I think any real Pearl Harbor will have to come from a sloppy US move, rather than any real strategy. Otherwise the problem of a big push against the US is that there is very little terriotry to gain and you’re facing a more powerful economy. So he just builds and manuevers, until the odds are to his liking.

I have a thread for that, but, it seems like there is very little interest…my guess is alot of people are involved in alot of games already.

    • RE: Last Doughboy passes away..

There is actually an aussie WW I vet still alive, he’s 110 and I believe the last WW I vet alive in the world. It makes me think what these guys on both sides went thru. If you haven’t read the inscription on the Turkish memorial to the battle of Galipoli, it’s very touching.

“Those heroes that shed their blood and lost their lives… you are now lying in the soil of a friendly country. Therefore rest in peace. There is no difference between the Johnnies and the Mehmets to us where they lie side by side here in this country of ours… You, the mothers, who sent their sons from far away countries wipe away your tears; your sons are now lying in our bosom and are in peace. After having lost their lives on this land they have become our sons as well.”

The rebels should have stacked all their infantry in one territory.

    • RE: Sub Question

That’s what it’s looking like to me, the sub would negate the possiblilty of a non combat movement, but, not a combat movement.

    • Sub Question

This has to have come up in games before, but, if a sub is submerged on in the same zone as a crusier, on my turn I move a destroyer into the zone to kill the sub, is my crusier obligated to fight also? I know the rules say ships can move over subs, but, combat moves come before noncombat and my understanding was also that all units in a zone must participate in combat.

I’m involved in a team game right now, and so far that’s my first G40 experience, so no worries, we’re both newbies. It’s cool by me if you’re the Axis. Since Germany goes first do you want to start a thread? I’m terribly curious about the different strats.
