Schroeder won because he was more anti-U.S. tha his opponent. YOur government is partially based on disliking us.

He won also because Stoiber was a southern du*** and rac*** !

And anyway it’s the same thing for sweden.

Then i give a rat’s a** about what the US thinks about us. Have they forgotten who von Steuben was, have they forgotten about all the Nazi collaborateurs who found a new warm home in the “land of the free”?

Nazi are still welcome in the US.

Yanny,France and Germany will lead Europe right into being Islamic nations …
They are both already Islamic hostages.

Do you have family with Lepen ?

Argentina and Peru invade CHile. COuld any power other than the U.S. do anything?

I’m sure you can be proud of your governement’s involvement in south america.

but i don’t see that Powell presented anything new

      You’re not alone

And France nearly elected a fascist

Nearly = 20% ? Anyway you’re right, you have every reason to bash on France, here we are so jalous when we see your president, a man of high culture, of high education, the friend of social rights and of nature.

Falk, what the hell are diferential equations?

      it was me

and shortly; it explain how a rate of change in one variable is related to other variables. And integration is the opposite (not exactly but it’s the main concept).

Serioulys YB, to know how at least the fondation of Integration/Derivation can be quite usefull in… well… most domains; sociology, physics, economy, engineering, mathematic (woooo). Sure i doupt you’ll have to solve partial derivates in your daily life but still, like Falk said it trained logic, most people will never use even algebra in their life. Before Liouville/Poincaré most mathematician believe we could explain all the world, a big modelisation as you can see, with differential equation.

      Higher math is so useless.

      For who ?

I still believe Newton invented Calculus simply to feel superior to everyone else.

Don’t forgert Leibniz. The fathers of calculus are Newton AND Leibniz.

I got -6.50 (left) and -6.00 (libertarian). Seem like it work out for me. As long as i am far from Hitler and Thatcher.

      @TG:

      Economic Left/Right: 0.00

      Not surprising :)

      @cystic:

      Economic Left/Right: -3.38
      Authoritarian/Libertarian: -1.85

      Well… THAT is really surprising…

Isn’t blair a labor socialism guy?

haha, good question. The labor party was elected because the English were bored of the ultra conservative… The Labor, and his leftish image, was for lots of people the solutions. But Blair is rightish, he make “reform” to the party and gained power, but it seem like the Labor party is not Leftish at all.

Yanny, what category do you score in on a political test?

Political Compass is a pretty good test…

      http://www.politicalcompass.org/

but I don’t believe it’s up to the government to legislate morality.

100% agree, but the way i see it, it’s a question of Life and Death, the governement judge crimes, killing is a crimes. And the number of abortions is very high.

Grrr… if you know differential equations then you don’t deserve to be a human being.

I was just quoting Falwell, but i put “don’t know what’s a differential equation” where it was “are not born-again christian”.

Yanny, one of the purposes of the bill is to stop shipments of weapons to human rights abusers like Egypt, China, and Israel.

    • RE: Iraq, again

By all means lets wait until he commits genocide again! How many people do you think we should stand by and watch him kill? Ten thousand? One hundred thousand? Maybe we should wait for a million? I wonder what the Kuaities who lost thier lives in 90 would think of that plan? Or the Kurds that were gassed with “defencive weapons”?

There is lots of crimes in the world, the United-States does not want to attack Iraq for some humanist reason. If you want to save lifes, there’s a more efficiant way than to declare a war, help people in need in africa, or asia, but declaring a war against Iraq to saves lifes is a really strange way of thinking, even if i am not blind to Saddam’s cruelty he cannot compare to Hitler. Just think how much you could do with all that money, just think how much people will die in the war, you really think you’ll saves lifes ?

Either Iraq doesn’t have a whole lot going on and Bush is running out of good reasons to march in

Yea, he said he had “proof” this summer, then he (and the brittish governement) publish a loosy report, full of supposition, empty of proofs. Again i don’t say Saddam is clean, but for now there’s nothing convincing, i just see the Americans and the Brittish claming they are irrefutable proof, but they show nothing, and i see a pretty good cooperation from Baghdad. We should gave Blix the time he need and we’ll see, Bush’s impatiance is nothing convincing.

By the american standpoint, most european country have a massive governement healthcare system. Canada too. In term of social/economy policies i think Canada is closer to Europe.

    • RE: Religion, Why?

have any of you heard of a thing called the “children’s crusade”? i vaugely remember hearing something about this years ago, about how children (not too young but not really old either, maybe 11 or 12) from france and italy in like the 1200’s or something marched across europe(and eventually took a boat from somewhere) and ended up in Jerusalem

When i heard this story, it was a little different. It was children from 16 to 25, from France and Germany, lead by a french guy i think.

to pray at the site of Jesus’ crucifixtion for peace in the holy city and they were all massacred by muslims before they could get to jerusalem. i have no idea if this was true or if it was in some dream i had or something, but do any of you know offhand if this is true

Well it’s just a fable, a myth, it’s not true.

    • RE: Islaam really isn't as violent as you think

      @cystic:

      This is still amazing.
I could declare myself a FinsterniSian, a Yannyan, or an Emugodian for whatever reason i wanted (possibly because of greed, misplaced political acumen, whatever), go about committing evil acts of violence to the point where FS, Y, and EG would cry in disbelief and sadness, and claim to do them in the names of FS, Y and EG still. Although these acts would be against secular humanism, or Jewish law and custom, or against nature itself, my performing these acts would still smear what FS, Y, and EG stand for, irrespective of their own teachings and beliefs.
      Still, what is the point?

Well i totally agree. Like i said the point was just to show islam is’nt “evil” to use your expression and that it’s not more violent than other religion. Also history can be a great lesson, mainly against fanatism, because the real enemy it’s not communism, islamism, christiam, or atheism it’s fanatism, we rarely did something great with fanatic robots, but we did with free mind.

    • RE: The Origins of X-Mas

So if i have a question of ethic, mathematic, if i want information on how the moon affect the earth, i must not only look scientific data (non-religious), but also all religion to have a good look ? The day you reject a religion as being false, you dismiss a whole system of belief, i’m sure you don’t read what the finns believe about creation, and honestly, as i don’t believe in god, i won’t care about reading the jewish, christians, muslims point of view about something. Well yes for knowing more thing, but not if i am doing research or if a need information about a phenomena. I will care reading people i don’t agree with, like Kronecker in math and like Descartes in philosophy, because like you said you cannot only read people who agree with you, otherwise you’ll never learn. But i won’t listen if you say “god say we must do that” or “god create the earth like that”, because i don’t believe in god in the first place.

    • RE: Islaam really isn't as violent as you think

I never said it was an argument against Christianism or Theism, it’s just an argument against dogma, i never said atheit were clean. you should try to avoid that as much as everyone else.

And there is a difference between killing people because of a belief, and killing becuase of something else while you hold a belief. For exemple in the inquisition they kill because of their religion (even if it’s not a good interpretation), and some atheist destroy temple because of their belief in atheism (as much a bad interpretation). But Hitler did not kill because of christianism, and stalin did’nt kill because of atheism, they simply hold these belief (even if it’s not clear in the two case).

but this is all so pointless.

This is’nt false but i think Yanny just want to show that the common claim that islam is violent is historicly a non-sence, at least it’s not more than other religion base of the god of Abraham.

it’s amazing how much time, effort, energy and verbage is wasted pointing out the evils committed by people who claim to be acting as agents for one religion/cause/ideology or another.

I often, and you cannot blame me for that, said it was’nt an argument.

The same has been true of many Christian and Jewish colleagues as well.

You have no Atheist, secular Humanist in Canada ?

    • RE: Religion, Why?

“Every religion”… No, it’s totally false. You’ll rarely see a polytheist killing other because they have another religion, nor torture people or menace them. Also buddhism is still a pretty good exemple of a peacefull religion (even if they are “evil” atheist). Take Japan for exemple, their religion was Shitoism, it was a religion with full of spirits, called Kami (or Kama, something like that), when the buddhist came to Japan, their was no real problem, and the two relgion did’nt fight together, they just merge. When christianism came, well, there was some problem. Sure religion is pointless, but they were not all bloody.

Also for christians crime you could add an important one; “humiliation/extermination of pagans & Jews”, and for Judaism you could add; “extermination of pagans”.

      @cystic:

why EG, are you being sarcastic?
      weird.

It’s true anyway, pagan were killed by christians

Some more irony for you - Einstein wasn’t Christian, he was Jewish and almost became the first President of Israel.

He was of Jewish blood but not of religion my friend. Anyway, everyone want him on his side but the fact is; he was’nt a Theist, and he was’nt an Atheist; he was a Pantheist, à la Spinoza. No link with christianism, judaism, islamism.

      And yes, Josephus mentions Jesus.

Seriously, i don’t know anymore what Jesus did, or if he even exist. I know what the christians said he did, but otherwise… About Josephus it’s not very clear, i’m pretty sure EmuGod would not agree. It’s rare we have non-christians calling Jesus the “messiah”.

Well from your point of view, they are probably center-left, but from mine they’re not. I doupt the right in France can compare to your “left”, our right is far more leftish :)

And btw i does not understand your signature, you have one common rebuttal made by leftish people (by bossk), and a quote of Einstein… i find that a little strange as i know you are catholic and you said yourself communism is bad. Sarcasm ?
