    • RE: Does Anyone else use Non-standerd Inf pieces ?

Yep I use all the same ones that Warrior is talking about ( and have bought from Michagan Toy Company as well - they are also great)

Scale is perfect for A&A just a sliver smaller then the INF pieces from the game typically

    • What is the best use of the american units in the PI ?

I’m wondering what others do here.

Is it best to leave them there and try and cost the japanese dearly ? (does anyone attempt to reinforce with planes)

      or

Is it better to flee in USA1 ?
      if so where to go?

does the fighter go to guam to
      a) make guam harder to take and
      b) give Japan worries with covering their transports

do the sea units go to Aus or head to pearl ??

    • Filling Transports and leaving question

If I have a Transport in the Sea-Zone adjacent to Eastern USA (has a port)  / Central USA (no sea port) can I  load units from both the Central and Eastern USA on to it ?
If so can I then use the port in Eastern USA to move three spaces and unload in morocco  ?

      No you need De Gaulle

……and I like those “lost patrols” in the desert and the last couple of games they have actually done good things !
(they were able to bring done the fighter from England to lend some punch to their attacks

The Toy Soldier Company is probably best: http://www.toysoldierco.com/index.html
They have decent pictures of the figures and they are nice knowledgeble and super-easy to order from.
(Talk to Jamie and tell him why you want them and he will steer you the most appropriate sets
Click: HO scale soldiers under products and then World War II under the era sub-menu

      http://toysoldierhq.com

Is also good for pictures and reviews of the sets but I’ve never bought from them so don’t know how easy / hard that is

    • Does Anyone else use Non-standerd Inf pieces ?

I like to use HO (1/72 scale) soldiers for Infantry counters.
Does anyone else do this ?

A number of companies make excellent pieces ( usually a box of ~ 48 costs 7-11$)
      This allows varied poses.

This also allows you to use 8th army and Afrika Korps in Africa but standard troops in Europe.
      Ghurka units in India
Use the oob pieces for Canada etc.

It also allows for representation of special troop types if you do house rule things like:
      US Marines
      British Comanndos
      SS
      etc.

    • RE: Scramble vs. Carrier question

Guess that makes sense – but aren’t the transports still committed???

I thought its “all in” on an amphib assault.

They will die no matter what why let the carrier die too ??

    • RE: Scramble vs. Carrier question

The Carrier is not even there.

Carriers do not accompany their planes in an attack, they move later ( not necc. to the sea zone of attack) and planes land on them during the non-combat phase.

In this scenario the scrambled fighter destroys all the transports killing everything on them.
Only the planes are left for the land battle.
They then die if they can’t land during NCM but the carrier will prob. be there for them by then.

    • RE: Combat and non combat movement clairification

Can The Germans in the Caucasus:

      A) Make a combat move to Invade Northwest Persia.
      B) Combat (and defeat) the British troops stationed there.
      c) Use a tank (or mech) left back in the Caucasus (Not involved in the fighting above) to make a Non-Combat Move to go to Iraq and activate it ?
