Couple questions on the Japan to Brazil. Your initial moves I imagine the US will build in the Pacific so once capturing Brazil wouldnt it be wise to close the Panama canal so their navy cannot follow. I haven’t played in ages.

RE: BIZARRE question… re Canal's.
Ok technically you could plan the retreat and land the planes on the carrier. So long as the planes also had another optional landing point. Functionality is iffy but the rules are correct yes, Because i believe the rules state that you cannot retreat just to create a landing zone for planes if they have another point then its completely legal? Just playing Devil’s advocate.

RE: Rules for 21+
Liquor:
USA - American Whiskey

UKE - Gin (Beefeaters, if you want to get themed)
UKP - Gin (Bombay Sapphire, again if you want to get themed)
USSR - Vodka (preferrably Stoli)
ANZAC - Rum (Australia is actually a large producer of Rum)
China - Maotai (famous Chinese liquor, may be a bit tough to come by though)
Japan - Sake
Germany - Jager
Italy - Amaretto or Sambuca take your pick. -

RE: Oil Centers in AAG40
Saudi Arabia oil deposits were discovered after the war and France has a small oilfield, Pechelbronne I believe. Their were also large stockpiles of oil in Netherlands and Belgiumvso maybe Germany rolls a one time roll of oil resources. I don’t know how you are setting up the oil rules though.

RE: What happens if you SAVE your money G1?
As UK why not just hold your IPC’s round 1 as well? It’s not as if Germany will be able to attack that very next turn. If Germany can wait so can you. You are essentially in the same position as you were on turn 1 just you both have larger amounts of money.

RE: What is making Alpha 2+ unbalanced?
With all due respect Clyde I see you regularly support a more historical approach to the game and call for Japan to be treated as independent. But this game allows you to change history and let’s be honest if the strategy that occurred in history worked so well how come they lost. All in all it is a game and the objective is to win if that means one power has to take a beating in order to help deliver a killshot then by all means they should take a beating. Every power plays its part.

RE: What's the longest time France has survived? Please read the post below
I once intentionally ignored them and went straight Russia and built a navy back in OOB they lasted 5 rounds and were only a minor annoyance because I owned the Atlantic and no powers landed. I easily dispatched them after finishing Russia then took London for the win.

RE: Our game groups world domination Global, simple balancing.
What he is trying to say at least I believe is that the strategies will always focus around capturing VC. He prefers creative strategies where VC are unimportant and the idea is to knock out your opponent. The problem in his logic is that this is a historical game and historically there were certain cities that were essential to winning the war. Capturing Paris won the war against France, the German failure to take Stalingrad was a turning point in the Eastern campaign, so on and so forth. While I can understand his point the fact is that the victory cities are located in the strategic centers (for the most part) even if there were no VC in them those are still the territories you would want to attack and take over so it kind of makes the arguement null and void.

RE: Southern IN
Thats unfortunate someone (I should) create a ww2 card game I feel like that would be a good time.

RE: Axis and Allies Global 1940 house/custom rules
1 and 3 seem extremely interesting. I fear 1 would make real balance issues but I am really interested in trying 3 in addition it would open up some serious strategy ideas.

RE: Southern IN
So basically its like a card game (always loved those things… on second thought do they make a ww2 card game?) with strategy.

RE: Southern IN
I will play revised happily. I should note I am rather new to the game only played for 2 years now and always with the same people who have just as much experience as me or less and we aren’t too serious with it kind of just cobbling together players whenever we can. I have only played Spring '42 and Global so just so you know if you kick my ass you know why now.

RE: Southern IN
I do though… the one small problem is playing area as the map is massive.

RE: Global 1940 Alpha 2 - cash in all units and purchase House Rule
Perhaps just allow Germany to place only submarines in Atlantic waters but only allow 1 per territory and up to 5. Germany is the only country to really use submarines in that way so historically its justified.
