I try to always play with them as well - it’s a good rule. I believe it was an official optional rule with 3.0 first… not sure.

RE: Who do you prefer to take Finland/Norway with?
I’m also a Russia-2 person. I never liked the US IPC in Finland either - an extra 2 transports costs the same and have more versatility.

Who do you prefer to take Finland/Norway with?
Another thread made me think of this question. I’ve had this discussion with friends and was curious to see what others think.
The actual opportunity can differ from game to game according to builds, but in general - which Allied country would you prefer to take Finland/Norway with and why?

RE: Axis and Allies victory 101 (basicly how to win)
Definately, TM. If you have a set plan, chances are it won’t work 3 turns from now. “Even the best plan doesn’t survive contact with the enemy”.
Or, to quote a famous late 20th century philosopher and strategist:
**“Everyone has a plan - until they get hit!”

A&A Mis-Quotes
“If you are playing a game of Axis & Allies and after a few turns you don’t know who the weakest player is, then you’re the weakest player.”

RE: Some things I've learned
also you can funnal supplys to russia from the india IC, tru persia,sanking or afganistan with out all the transport stuff
You won’t be able to funnel anything to Russia - you’ll be barely hanging on against a growing Japanese force in Burma!

Online with the CD game, Rule #2 is used but there is no repair.

RE: My early game strategies
I think Wild2000 covered about the only option, above.
Hit the Western Med. battleship with one sub, your battleship, and a transport with 2 infantry, then land 1 infantry in Algeria and 1 in Gibraltar after the naval battle…

RE: Strong Germany Opening in Africa
@TG:
You can just fly around the AA gun… though I doubt many players use Active AA-guns. Besides can’t that bomber land in the Caucacus?
If UK doesn’t purchase an AC but instead sends the BB to reinforce their fleet, will you attack it with your ftrs then?
I think over half of online players do play with AAA, and yes, the bomber can also land in the Caucacus - but that could also be a little risky for the UK.
You are right, you can pretty much write of the transport - you will almost definitely lose it to either the UK bomber or the Gibraltar BB. But it’s main function is to protect the German BB and Transport in the Eastern Med from the Gibraltar BB. If it survives that’s just a bonus.
I would probably still leave the BB alone if it made it back to the North Sea - the fighters are more important to Germany in the early stages of the game than in the later stages, so I would still wait and hit with Japan later on…
@TG:
Whoa, buying two transports! Now you’re just asking for trouble. Trust me, the Russians will be upon you before you even get a chance to use them.
I agree 100% - bad idea!

RE: Syria/Iraq guy…..what to do?
If the U.K plans to fight for control of Africa, then you can move the Syria Iraq INF into Egypt, and transport the troops and plane from India to Egypt. If you sink the German fleet turn 1 you will have enough to take back and hold Africa. The U.S. has to pick up the slack in Asia though.
That is always my first choice, too.
