    • RE: Problems for US strategy

If Germany is limited to only a few territories ( meaning 20IPC give or take ) and they are bottling up germany you should start with strategic bombarding. If this is the case you should have plenty of IPc to buy a bomber every 2-3 turns. Both the US and UK ( and Russia? ) bombing germany should net their IPC to nothing, allowing you to build up a stack larger then his. Offcourse you have Japan knocking on the door in the meanwhile…

France is 6 IPC so you should always take it with one infantry if it’s empty. Even if there’s a few troops there it’s worth it to try and take it IMHO.

    • RE: Need HELP with J1 again, when UK/Russia is a pain.

I don’t see assaulting 6 Infantry 1 Fighter with only 4 landunits, BB and airsupport as a safe battle. Furthermore there will be 4 infantry+1fighter in China the next turn. Again not too easy a battle. If these battles go a bit wrong for Japan they really are in a bad situation. It’s a tad too risky for me.

    • USA buys

What do you think of the following USA buys if the game is undecided on KGF/KJF, where you initially want to keep both fronts open or want to keep some pressure on the other Axis then the one you decide to take out first.

USA 1 : Aircraft Carrier, Sub, Transport, 2x Artillery all deployed in the west. ( saving  2 )
=> groups with BB and destroyer : this fleet can take the southern Jap islands if not all the Jap fleet is in the south.

USA 2 : Aircraft Carrier, Tank, Artillery, 2x Fighter all deployed in the east. ( saving 8 )

USA 3 : 2x Transport, 2 Infantry, Tank, Artillery deployed in the east. Having 18 left over at this point.
=> an additional 6 transports in total to make a direct transport link to Africa, walk one sector east ( lybia? ) and from there with transports + Carrier and fighters threatening the whole south of europe.

From this stage on I can or expand the transports and troops going to europe, or leave the tranny’s like that to put some minimal pressure on germany and start building a bigger pacific fleet/factory on one of the southern islands*.

      • I tried this last game and I kinda liked this. If the US takes one of those ‘4’ islands and build a factory on it immediatly this can really endanger Japan’s fleet fast. You must however unite the US/UK fleet there to prevent the Jap monster fleet from killing the allied fleet and taking the factory on the next Jap turn. But once the factory can produce the US can buy 4 subs per turn, overwhelming the Jap fleet eventually. Combined with a IC in India this is a lot for Japan to swallow.

      Thank you for reading

    • RE: Basic strategies for Axis

I read a comment about not buying a german fleet at all. But what if the allies don’t seem eager to get their fleet busy in the medditerenean ( dang first time I have to write this word in english ! )
If that’s the case, and you still have the italian BB and tranny offcourse, would buying extra fleet not be worth it? Transports off Italy can strike Caucasus in one turn… This could germany’s rush against Russia a speed boost. Yes in the end it will mean less units to fight against the russians but if those extra units a turn earlier can be the difference between failing at the doorsteps of russia and taking it after all…

Also can you ever hold africa from the americans? Those pesky 4-6 units each and every turn really are a drainage on your troops. Is it worth to try and hold them off?
