    • Chip solution

I don’t post often, but i’ve noticed something when i was last on this board (monthsa ago). The complaint about not enough plastic chips to play with. For some reason it dawned on me that perhaps my group was unique.

Since the first time I ever played, we didn’t rely on chips at all really (except in the very beginning of a game). We used coins. Pennies, nickels, then quarters as substitutes. I’ve even seen the new “sac” goldish dollar coin slapped on the table to represent 100 inf. in a particularly brutal tiff between Germany and Russia.

So we never had an issue with too few chips. I always that it was cool and figured everybody did this until I read this forum. Does anybody else use this method when the chips run out? 😮

    • RE: Importance of india

I was thinking of the Asian wall when I wrote that, but the original plan called for moving reinforcements in from Egypt, which would be gone by UK1 if Germany already took it out. My thought was that the Russians only stayed long enough for UK to build some units in it.

In the old AA I used to build an IC in Egypt (which only had a build value of two) as UK. Egypt was not quite as necessary a first round German target back then (no Sahara). I flew a couple FTRs in the beginning then kept only two guys a round going in (tanks had no defensive advantage over infantry back then). It always held until the US arrived to help out.

It seems that India could be similar with three builds (maybe 2 guys and a FTR). If it can be helped out the first two rounds or so.

For Sinkiang’s part of the Asian wall I was thinking of reinforcing it with 2 guys from Khazak and 2 from Novisibirsk in R1. But then all Russian forces would eventually have to leave to defend Mother Russia.

My Russian strategy has always been “Just stay alive”.

    • RE: Importance of india

I’m thinking the new AAA in India is a hint for UK to build an IC there. Perhaps even blitzing a Russian tank from Cau and a FTR from Moscow on R1 to help defend round 1 wouldn’t be bad. I’ve only played axis so far, but I’m waiting for the tables to turn.

So far it seems Japan has bailed out the win for me each game.
