Does anyone still use a G1 Russian invasion?  I was looking through the play forum and was hardpressed to find a game.  Has this fallen out of favour?

    • RE: Global 2nd edition Q+A ( AAG40.2)

If Russia declares war on Japan, does this affect the relations between Japan and the UK, or ANZAC.  I am confused as the soviets are neutral to begin and not apart of the allies.  The example of our game is as follows.  Russia declares war on japan by moving into china.  Japan attacks UK.  This wasn’t provoked as the allies had already provoked Japan?  The impact being when the US could enter the war.  We were divided on the outcome of this situation, but concluded that Japan did make a unprovoked declaration of war and indeed brought the US to bare.  Thank you for your help.

    • RE: Help! Russian/Japan Question

      Ok great thank you.

Just to be sure I understand. Moving Russian troops into China does not break the Political Situation for Japan that:
“Japan considers movement of units into China by any other Allied Power as an act of of war against it.”

The exact senario was that Russia declared war. Then moved troops into China

      Thanks again

    • Help! Russian/Japan Question

what happens if Russia makes a provoked declaration of war on Japan by invading China.  How does this affect the stare of the other allies.  ie, if Japan attacks the UK does this still bring the US into the war or not?

    • RE: Allied Landing

I would have never considered a takeover of Spain.  I’m assuming this is a US3-4 capture?  Do you find that the benefits of attacking a strict neutral worthwhile?  You have given me much to consider, thank you.

I did not include this but it would be a UK landing followup, to allow the US to take the complexes.  Or should the UK land before?

    • Allied Landing

When do you plan on landing in Europe.  I was thinking it would be strong to build US1 and/or 2 transports.  The hope would be to land US3 or 4.  This obviously takes into account japan playing a J2 or J1.  This would slow the allied presence in the pacific, but I’m trying to gauge what is the most effective means to open up a second front, one that would have an impact that would delay the capture of Moscow.  Thoughts, or links to other posts would be greatly appreciated.

    • RE: Italy Strategy

How would you get out of the med?  Especially if they build a mIC in Cairo.  I find with a German assistance in the Mediterranean (some form of naval support, though most likely just air), Italy can just land in Cairo after some time.  This however is likely implausible depending on the US support.

    • RE: Italy Strategy

Use your subs for the sz 110 and 111 attacks, they will have a greater influence.  Without taking out these fleets your sea lion threat is diminished, and it was just a ruse the fleet will rotate to the med and become a headache.  I don’t know when I would attack the sz91 cruiser, I think only If I wasn’t attacking sz 110, which may be a g1 russian attack.  I do not have an adequate answer, I’ve never played a game through under such an attack.

I just believe as the axis you must attack as much, as efficiently, and as quickly as you can.  I do not feel that a sz 91 cruiser kill is worth it.  It generally is used to kill sz 96, which always falls one way or another and is an easy Italian I1 kill anyways.

    • RE: Italy Strategy

I’m not as experienced as many players on this forum, that being said here is my two cents.

      Italy’s economy is very NO based.  Achieve your national objectives and you can quickly make a comparable income to that of the UKE.  German support is required for a strong Italy.  This would include;
      1.  Sea Lion Feign,  buying some variant of fleet or transports.
      2.  Protecting SZ 97 with a German fighter for scrambling purposes.  If the allies press this attack with the extra fighter the loses can be so severe that sea lion odds are greatly improved
      3.  Give Germany southern France so it can produce a Navy in the Mediterranean
      4.  A strafe attack which is an attack then retreat on Yugoslavia, allowing Italy to conquer easier.

Can you fly over strict neutrals during the CM phase.  Ex: bombers from WG attack the cruiser in sz91.  If this has already been answered I would appreciate a link.  Thank you

    • Germany Declaration of War on Russia

What is the most common turn to attack Russia as Germany?  I have read lots about G1 and G2.  I am thinking though that G3 is the best to take Ukraine and Novgorod on G5.

    • RE: UK1 Attack on SZ 97

Thank you everyone for your responses.  I like the idea of bluffing sea-lion.  I have used this strategy once before in alpha 2 and had some success.  What is the typical g1 biudl to bluff sea-lion.  I have been thinking about either 1 ac, 1 d, 2 I,  or 10 I.  Any suggestions, comments?

    • RE: UK1 Attack on SZ 97

Yeah I see what you mean.  Okay is it common for players to attack SZ106 with two submarines or just one?  This would make the attack on SZ110 1BB, 1S, and aircraft.  Also how common are players biulding an aircraft carrier on G1?

    • RE: UK1 Attack on SZ 97

Thank you Jeff for your response.  I was thinking about using a German G1 attack on SZ110, and SZ111 to bait a scramble.  I would save my battleship and biuld 1ac, 1d, 1s.  This would have the potential of convoying if the UK fighters left for the med.  I am unsure or I could use my transport to block gibraltor and support the Italians this way.  Has anyone had any success using this method or something similar?

    • UK1 Attack on SZ 97

This is my first post.  Looking at the board I’m wondering what UK players generally attack SZ 97 with?  Italy can defend with one battleship, 1 cruiser and potentially 3 fighters.

The UK can attack with 1 aircraft carrier, 1 destroyer, 1 cruiser, 1 fighter from malta, 1 tactical bomber onboard the aircraft carrier, 1 fighter from gibraltor, and 1 bomber from the UK.  1 fighter would have to land on the aircraft carrier but the other as well as the tactical bomber could land on malta or the aircraft carrier.

Is anyone else seeing or using this attack?

What is the proper Italian response?

      Thank you for any comments.
