There is a big purpose for the Italian fleet. If it is powerful enough, the U.S. will have trouble taking Italy and the Allies will have a much harder time winning. I think a transport first turn is necessary, and then a carrier and fighter over turns 2 and 3. If a weak Allied fleet sits within reach or is approaching, buy some subs and maybe a destroyer or two to attack them with. You have to respect Italy. 8-)

RE: Your favourite country! (tell why please)
I like the U.S.S.R. simply because you have the best opportunity to punish mistakes. The first game of AA50 I played, the German player thought he didn’t have to send too much toward me (Russia), and instead built a transport and fighter first turn. I took Poland on the fourth turn… :-D
Just a little embarassing…

RE: Victory Cities
I’ve never played a game that got to the VC conditions (9 in AAR or 13 in AA50). The group I play with knows when they’ve lost and concedes at that point.

RE: All infantry on R1: does it still apply?
Buying all inf is not necessary if G1 indicates less aggressive attacks against Russia. In my only game, Germany built a tranny on G1 and wasn’t set up to take Karelia on G2, so I bought 1 fig and 4 tanks. It ended up working well, as i captured Poland on R4, reinforced the U.S. in Italy on R5, and crushed Japan before they got through China on R5.
An Axis surrender happened quickly after :-D
