From what I’ve read, Hitler believed that the Allied powers also had never gas and would use them against Germany’s own cities in retaliation if Germany used them. However, it seems that he was wrong.
So, that begs the question, how might have World War II changed if Hitler had decided to use nerve gas? Nerve gas could be dropped over cities to produce horrendous casualties, such as London, and could have been used tactically to destroy opposition forces, much like nuclear weapons were used. With such a powerful weapon on his side, could Germany have conquered the eastern Soviet Union and at least forced a armistice with Britain?
