I try this last game (including background form previous turns):

      =Russian airplane to china
=Lost egypt, 1 german tank + fighter remaining
=India fighter took jap transport, landed china
      =Built IC in india
= Retreated cruiser and AC to madagascar, and transport to a an adjacent zone
= Moved australian sub into counter position (wes australia) , and london bomber to caucasus.

It was an all effort KJF , with us investing all in pacific, including an IC in sinkian… that because japan took India (with factory) R1.

The result was a disaster for allies  :-D (me). Japan was indeed very weak… but germans even with some unlucky turns advanced far in russia with an almost non existing uk, and 2 wolf packs patrolling all the time :)

      Wait…
I just posted on the 1942 FAQ thread.

I read the rulebook, it looks like subs can stall. (move in non combat to a sz with unloaded enemy transports).
Anyone who ever played AA Pacific (old one) knows that there, stalling is the only little hope against an india crush.

Moreover here subs can’t be picked by air units!

Does anyone know about this? I can’t see any comment about sub stalling in 1942.
If it is allowed (as it appears to be on rulebook) IC in India may be protected ! or at least force japan to spend and risk more

    • RE: What is your favorite bid ?

In my view, I don’t think I will  ever play enough games to decide if I think there should be a bid.

Results till now are balanced! really like this setup. I just wish it had the luxury of AAA50.
Anyways, I concluded long time ago that bids are a bad habit of LLuckers … ( :-D find out what that means) who seem to enjoy having scripted games.

    • RE: AA42 Questions & Answers

Ok I decided to buy this version after playing online many times. After the huge laugh about the board size (expected) and after a couple of games I checked the rulebook.

It says that subs CAN move into enemy zones in non combat. And stop if there is a destroyer.

Since the rule of not loading units on sz containing enemy units is still unchanged…

===== This means that subs CAN STALL ?? ====

I don’t know if this is also in AA40 and AAA50 rulebooks, but if so… I think it is huge. Stalling japan does very serious damage.

      Anybody?

    • RE: German Bombing Strategy

Just played some 3 rounds against a player who did that.
Germany went very weak with a regular R1, ukraine won for soviets (1 tank remaining) And a very risky but succesful sz5 (baltic) attack.

This made uk take norway r1, and build in counter 3 destroyers+1 transport
R2 was allied mass in sz 12 (gibraltar). Germany never dared to attack.

Guess what? Bombing costed me around 10 IPCs total, but no bomber was lost on any raids.

This and many other experiences make me think that bombing is weak.  You risk 12, for 0 if you get hit; 0 for 3.5 if you don’t.
Not to mention that optional rule of escorts… which we don’t use anymore.
