I bought this game when it came out, took a look at it, saw that it was nothing like AA and put it away. Then in my move to europe I was packing my stuff and it was amongst all my aa games still bran new…I took another look at it over this passed weekend and played vs. myself just to get the rules down…Looking to break it in with a friend in a couple weeks, but so far, I am amazed at how cool it is…My friend is a noobie and we have been doing Dday a lot with some serious drama a swings either way. With this game, that initiative with attack can swing it in either direction and I found out what it was like to blitz 4 tanks and get stranded without fuel.
I gotta say I was following Frimmels axis strategy and it was over in 4 turns without aircraft getting involved. I have a feeling playing this against my noob friend I will have to take the allies as I have to let him win once in a while to keep him interested, right? I like the challenge of learning allies strategy…It was fun in Dday and I think it will be fun here.
I like the fact you could probably play 2 games in an evening as well.
I think that Larry had a good idea here to mix it up a bit with Dday and esp bulge. Making things a little more out of your control as far as losses makes you think like a real general and react to what comes instead of always having tanks and planes left after making your inf cannon fodder.
This game is awesome and takes some patience to learn at first, but definitely worth it in the end. Sadly I have only found 1 video on youtube about it and it was just a description…I will have to remedy that with some game vids…
Big shout to Frimmel for the strategies and Krieghound for being “der Spielfuhrer” with all the advice on rules… :-D
