If the allies go full tilt KGF its not really possible for the Germans to keep up pressure on Russia for ever. However the dont have to as Japan will do that instead.
One thing I find helpfull as Germany is to switch from light to medium trading against Russia. Seems to me that Russia have to sacrifice much more IPC each trade as they have much less air.

RE: Any good Allied Strategies?
I agree, you shouldent invade France untill you are really good and ready. Howver having kmore than 4 transports as UK is not very smart as you can use them all (only 8 untis can be produced in Engalnd each turn).

RE: GAME WRITE UP: CENTRAL POWER NAVY STRATEGY!
From a simple math min/max perspective which some are intersested in, a naval strat is extremly unwise. Simple plus/minus math will tell you you need to add appr. 81 IPC worth of naval as CP in total accross the board (using the starting naval as ref) to even break even which means if you wanna “controll” something you will need to add more than the competition.
As CP you cant ever get into a building race with the allies as your starting income is so much less, but rather you need to as fast as possible close the incomecap.Consider sz17. (I will assume the ottoman and russian navy cancel each out). Allies can after turn1 have 2 BS (France+Italy)+3Cruisers(UK+Italy+France which means AH wont be able to break even, even if the go all out navy. After turn2 the allies will have additional 1BS+Crusie (UK) in the zone and again AH wont be able to break even, even if they spent all during 2 turns. After this france plus Italy can with great ease together spend equal to AH for each turn.
So I have to ask how in hell are AH suppose to get controll over sz17?=)I suppose you can counter and say “the allies dont counter my moves in my games” but then what is the point of argue the value of strats. I can ask what do you think about my “attack-AH-first-as-Italy strat”, assuming AH dont defend their borders?=)

RE: Allies Strategy
SZ37 is good move in terms of making a dent in Japans navy and it is a huge loss for them. However its only really worth anything if Japan needs to replace the units, meaning unless you are going KJF its a completely pointless move. And it is a really, really boring move as it losses the game for the allies if it fails…
You cant really base your opinion based on Hard AI on triple A as its not really any good. The Hard AI Japan for instance tends to buy 10+ transports and do all types of unfocused ADHD moves all around the pacific without any clear objective, they take mexico, they take alaska etc…

RE: Do you bomberman?
I alwyas buy 1 bomber per round as Germany and a few with Japan. As axis you get 2 for 1 with the buy of bombers as you both make the allies buy more protection for their transports and you get to hammer Russia with SBR. As Allies you only get SBR which I dont think is worth it alone.

RE: IC in Manchuria
I usually build one once I reach the cap in Japan. Before that I would def. go with transports instead.

RE: Reasons why you shouldn't kill France first
At what round is Russia knocked out? What are the appr. incomes when they do?
Generelly you wanna knock them out by round 5 and have plus 6 in income each for Germany and AH. Assuming small gains by UK and a some losses by the Ottomans by that time the total income for CPs and allies should look like:
Allies: 80-85 IPC
CPs: 80-85 IPCWhich means its quite open.

RE: Reasons why you shouldn't kill France first
What are you doing after Russia is gone? I am assuming UK are going full tilt towards the Ottomans?
AH has two as I see it. Option A is using the bare minimum to shield itself from Italaly and using most of its army towards India. Option B is the opposite, sending the bare minimum too keep the Ottomans in the game while trying to kill Italy asap.
Germany can either go full tilt against France or it can merly shield against France while sending troops towards Italy (only if AH are doing option B). -
RE: Russian Revolution question
I dont see how RR can be avoided really if CP goes all in… Though CPs and especially AH needs to be ultra aggressive on the eastern front, meaning moving pratically everything that way in the first round and have something like 32inf/8art and 1 plane ready to hit Ukrane round 2.
-
RE: Getting slow…
Well you can always start with opening moves for each country =)
-
RE: Reasons why you shouldn't kill France first
I agree with CC, forcing RR is much better than taking Moscow since you dont need to waste units and can been done much faster.

RE: Central Powers Navy?
The land strat seems ok, though I would ignore Italy completly AH1 and move everything towards Russia.
However I have no clue what the objective is with the Navy buy? As Ive stated before:
The allies start with 7 BS and 9 Cruisers as offensive navy which is worth 165 IPC wheres the CP have 2 BS, 4 Cruisers and 4 Subs which is worth 84 IPC. Difference is 81 IPC worth of Navy.
Why bother trying to close this gap? Why not focus only on your groundgame? Feels a little like trying to counter a KGF in a 1942 game by buying navy as Germany…. -
RE: Japan's response to KJF
Well the easy answer is ofc “enough” to deadzone the us =) Buy just enough subs and planes to make it impossible for the us to get to the money islands.
Tbh I havent seen many KJF and I have kinda gone on auto-win-mode once Ive seen someone try as it is impossible to win with… -
RE: Is this balancedl?
I have never played tournament rules either but in OOB rules his suggestion would be very imbalanced. Dont really know what neutral Italy means, can he still buy and move internally, just not attack or is he siting our completly in round 1? A bid of 20 that can be placed anywhere is also alot as ColonelCarter stats with perfect examples.

RE: Was there a CP playbook for France first, Italy first and Russia first?
Hmm my 1914 box fell short of providing horses as pieces =)

RE: Was there a CP playbook for France first, Italy first and Russia first?
Well do you agree that first fight is a complete suicide fight where AH will get wiped out and a best case scenario they can hope for is to kill 6-7 AH inf?
Do you also agree that even with insane luck the Germany forces wont wipe out the remaining 60 AH units in round 5 but perhaps only half that? During all this time wouldent a decent UK partner had a plan in place to reenforce Paris by this time? I mean The opening move by AH says it all and after Germanies first turn its even obvious to a blind person what is happening… -
RE: Was there a CP playbook for France first, Italy first and Russia first?
Ok. But my number are correct in the AH and Germany round 5 attack?
AH vs France
12inf, 4art vs 59inf, 9 art, 1planeGermany vs France
47inf, 16 art, 13 plane vs 59 inf(minus the ones AH manage to kill), 9 art, 1planeJust yes or no, is the above a correct description?
-
RE: Was there a CP playbook for France first, Italy first and Russia first?
Yea right, no problem as you say =)
By AH you mean the 12 inf and 4 art in range just goes france as well? As you say as they goes first in round 5, their entire stack will get killed in that attack (12inf, 4art vs 59inf, 9art, 1plane =))…Could you please be specific how you kill France within 5 round?
Or else I can just as easily claim that I have an super AH strat that works every time. I take UK in round 4. Dont ask how, just do it, very easy, the Ottomans helps out!
-
RE: Was there a CP playbook for France first, Italy first and Russia first?
Well taking Paris in round 5 is outright impossible, since you cant reach it untill r5 and you wont be able to take it in one round.
Number are as follow´(just to be nice, Im even gonna assume you got Belgium without a single casualty): Germany; 47 inf, 16 art, 1+12 planes, France: 26+(around 30 bought inf + 3 inf from portogal)+9art(1art from portogal)+1 plane.
The German attack in round 5: (231+163+164+131)/6 = 31.5 (even insane luck I dont think you will score 65…
France defend: 65*3/6 = 32.5In this Im not even taking into account that both britain and Italy can get troops into Paris by round 5…
Dont get me wrong, I like wild ideas. But claiming “Take France first, its really easy”, thats just bs =)

RE: All the Russian openings: For Begginers
craykirk: Just so I understand the opening correctly, was Germany hitting the W. Russia stack with everything possible, ie: 6inf, 1 art, 3 Tanks (I understood you killed the baltic tanks in R1?), 4 planes and 1 bomber?
If so that is a really cutsy move by Germany =) Its the kind of move I would hope Germany would do against me in a game without a bid as it is one of the few things that could result in such a huge catastrof that could lead to an allied victory.
