RE: Latest Patch and Utilities for Hasbro Axis and Allies CD-Rom 1998
There is a problem with the game running slow on win8.
http://axisandalliesworldclub.net/forums/viewtopic.php?p=64697#p64697If the frame rate is too low there is some weird behavior with buttons ( like when purchasing units )
(edit1: do NOT use ForceDirectDrawEmulation on Win8 )
(edit2: it may be possible that DirectDraw is not hardware accelerated on your device… which means it’d be using ForceDirectDrawEmulation whether you select it or not. )That’s all the help I can offer.
You may be happier using TripleA -
RE: How much memory (RAM) does your computer have?
Windows restricts the virtual address space of a user-mode 32-bit processes to 2GB * ( … in general )
Which it has to share with any imported libraries ( kernel32.dll, user32.dll, etc. )It would seem the amount of available ram has little to do with anything … because system memory is back by the page file.
*edit: clarification: if you have 512MB of ram installed a process can still allocate 1 GB of memory … it just “pages”… pages to and from the hard disk as they are accessed.Does java requires contiguous memory pages? ( which would be stupid )
- you can try setting the IMAGE_FILE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE flag in the triplea.exe NT header

My computer came with 1 GB or ram installed
I upgraded it to 3 GB
I current using ~1.25GB -

Installing from the CD,
the 1.33 patch,
and the StarterpackAll worked without issue (here) on win8 x64

“Can’t find Axis Resource 1!”
The game couldn’t find or open Data.mgf
That file should be in the same folder as the executable.I plan on installing win8 sometime this week…

RE: Disable Java?
the patch was incomplete.
https://threatpost.com/en_us/blogs/incomplete-java-patch-paved-way-latest-zero-day-mess-011113Disable Java from you internet browser, there is no reason to remove it from your computer AFAIK
so TripleA will still work. -
RE: Feature requests for TripleA
If being able to host without port forwarding is too far out of reach,
how about a dedicated server with remote admin? -
RE: Whats up with this Warzone thing?
I sign up with warzone and the buggers dont have their own servers
That statement doesn’t make any sense.
You do not have to join AAWC to play in the Axis and Allies channel on the Warzone.
Try placing “fun 2v2” as the title of your room. You can play with any rules you wish.
AAWC runs “squad” and “merc” games if your interested in that. The place is fairly sparsely populated … I know.
I’m pretty sure e-Warzone is the only directplay lobby that is populated by people playing AA’98.
When/If e-Warzone goes down they switch over to Voobly. -
RE: Feature requests for TripleA
do live games still require port forwarding?
maybe implement something like ice4j so TripleA can be more accessible to the masses
