RE: Is china impotant
Yakut is the quickest way to put pressure on the Soviet Union. If you have infantry in Japan and land in on Asia here is the breakdown of the 2 routes (Yakut/China)
- Buryatia -> Yakut -> Novosibirsk -> Russia
- Manchuria -> China -> Sinkiang -> Novosibirsk/Kazakh -> Russia
Whay are troops starting from Manchuria instead of the Kwangtung?

RE: Sub Combat Scenario??
1. If you have an aircraft that has taken off from land and a destroyer, that counts as two units. If ou take a hit, you still have a unit left.
2. I kind of solved this one with the explanation of number one. If a fighter, destroyer, and transport are together, that counts as three units, and fighters cannot be cargo on a transport, as you know. As you also know, if a destroyer is present, then it cancels the Submersible, Surprise Strike, and Cannot be Hit by Air Units characteristics of any sub on the opposite side. If the destroyer is sunk, then these rules are once again in effect. Thus, a sub cannot be hit by your fighter, and the transports are destroyed. The transports are saved only if there are eligible fighting units left in the field.
3. Nope. It says in the rulebook that if a destroyer is present in the battle at all, then BOTH SIDES cannot have their subs doing Surprise Strikes before the main battle.
4.If a destroyer is sunk and only a sub remains, then the sub cannot submerge, whether it is on either side. Subs can submerge only before the main battle, as in Surprise Strike.
That’s it!

RE: My take on the new map.
Here are a couple things that I don’t like about the 1942 board:
1. Why are the Americans in China in the first place?
2. Why does Britain own practically all of Africa?
3.Japan is as big as Australia.
4. Africa looks like a Neanderthal’s head with a squashed noggin.
5.The Atlantic is three sea zones across.
6. Where did the name Evenki National Okrug come from? -
RE: Plane pieces
There are two kinds of planes, fighters and bombers.
IMPORTANT: Among the powers, the planes look different. Same with the tanks, infantry, ships, and artillery.
For example, Britain and Japan have the same kind of fighter, but a US green fighter has a little aerofoil connecting the two tails. The Japanese tanks are small, but the German tanks are bigger. The German artillery looks different from all of the other power’s artillery.

RE: Is china impotant
I am 12 years old, and this is my second post. I’ll try and resolve this question.
The importance of China can be debated for a while. I agree with LeonidasBush in most cases. Through Japanese eyeglasses, China is the quickest way to put pressure on the Bear. Otherwise, the Japs could try and mount an offensive through SFE, Buryatia, and Yakut, which would require a lot of infantry. The Russians go first, and a logical move is to put infantry in Buryatia so the latter Jap method is stalled. Anyways, China is somewhat important, but for the sole purpose of helping out Hitler and kicking out the US. In fact, why is the US in China in the first place?
Through the US point of view, China is pretty defenseless since it is cut off from anyone else besides Russia. Neutral Mongolia and Himilaya are on two sides of it. If the US was actually able to amass troops in China before the Japs swooped it up, then capturing the Kwangtung would be a good idea. Unfortunately, the Japs have their turn before the US, and only a miracle can save China. Fortunately, Russia nd the UK both have turns before Japan. I don’t think that Russia would even bother to put fighters in Sinkiang or China on the first round. If China and Sinkiang fell into Jap hands, then Stalin would be hearing the warning bells. For now, the Russians are stuck on a CGF strategy. The UK might be able to help. The most viable solution would be to transfer materials from Persia, not India. Reinforcing the Sinkiang with multinational UK/US forces would probably be of use. Now, if I was the Japanese player, I would avoid capturing Sinkiang and overextending my lines in front of Russia. BTW, Russia might not put troops in Buryatia on their first turn, and just concentrate on Germany instead. If this happens, the Japs most likely would be able to capture at least two of the three listed above.
The importance of China cannot be fully resolved. You can only look at it through certain situations.

RE: A couple quick questions for a complete newb!!
Don’t worry, the rules are not that hard. I am 12 myself! Let me answer your questions.
In a combat move, you can move as many troops as you like from as many territories as you want. For example, if America took over the Kwangtung, the Japanese could make a joint attack from French Indochina and Manchuria. If there was two infantry and a tank in Manchuria, you could use all of them to mount the attack. If you do not have any troops in a territory, it is still under your control until an enemy takes it. You can mount completely seperate battles in the space of one turn as long as they don’t happen at the same time.
Now for the dice question. When you place your troops on the battle strip in the correct places, you can see a units attack number. You roll once for each unit, even if they have the same attacking or defending number. If you roll that unit’s number or less, you score a hit.
Lastly, I must give some fighter/bomber clarification. If you have planes on an island, and you see a ship or fleet coming towards, most likely for an amphibious assault, then you can bomb the ships IF the ships have finished their turn, and it is now yours. Remember, ships can move two sea zones per turn. I do not fully understand your second question. It does not matter whether enemy ships are in a sea zone friendly to you or not. You can send fighters and bombers over the ships both ways, as long as you have enough moves for the plane to get back to friendly land or sea territories. However, I would advise not to send bombers to attack ships that are in a sea zone right next to where the enemy has amassed AA guns.
That’s all. Don’t worry about asking simple questions. I did the same thing when I was first introduced to A&A.
