@thrasher1 Maybe it is time for me to thank some people. The people who came before me… All the guys (and maybe girls) at game magazines who published Axis and Allies (and Fortress America and Shogun related stuff). I never got one of these magazines myself however.
But for now: a big shout-out to these pre-internet guys! If anyone from you is here on this forum: please send me a message if you want.
Axis and Allies Express: 2nd battle of El Alamein
-
I am creating my own AAX (Axis and allies express) based on the battle of El Alamein
I have the starting locations

But am wondering whether or not to make it a hexagonal game like BotB or a territory game.
Ideas would be useful

Found this

Also wondering should I make each one of these divisions one unit or multiple depending on the number ofl units?
All help apreciated

Hey Fox the pic does not load but you should really stager the amount of units a division represents by actual strength.
-
Lots of faked footage but a good source of inspiration:

Where exactly was Battle of El Alamein?

are you going to make a reniforcment system or is the starting units on the board all you get?

No from the research I have done there appeared to be no reinforcements in the battle. However there will be air support. There will also be supply rules for advanced players.

okay thanks, i more question without reniforcments wont gemany/italy be likely to lose cause they will have alot less men?

Maybe but I will probably play test it and give the Axis specific victory conditions. Also remember the devils gardens because there will be specific rules which slow the allied advance and so the Germans/Italians should be able to take advantage of this

okay thanks.

Good job Fox… This is really cool. But is there a reason for the division markers? Is that part of the setup, or…?

Thanks the Territory lines need to be edited so they look nicer. The divisions are there because that is where they initially started and the initial map I got of the net has them on it.
BTW here is the link for the thread about ABattlemap

I have removed the road and the railway from the map do you think this is a good idea? Historically i could find no use for it except that it was just there.

I assume they designate brigades/regiment-sized units:
