Something that can change hands should remain as a generic colour for all. There’s enough stuff to do without having to swap out different coloured factories as well!

RE: Global War 36 Seperate Board. Wahoo.
Don’t want to be a broken record but wish HBG would open source the map so others could work on it too. Lots of good ideas out there and some people with great Photoshop skills (i.e Sireblood/etc.). HBG could still print them or perhaps offer one-time use licensing if one wants to print elsewhere (hard to get and control a copyright though, I understand). Allows people to print different sizes too and on different materials.
My 2 cents.
Your 2 cents is VERY valuable.
I’d like a elec copy to print a mini version so we can refer to it when planning, discussing moves with teammates. It’s so hard to see borders, values etc once the game is underway and there are pieces everywhere. Maybe a black n white version so we can just get something to refer to…… -
RE: Troops and easy identification painting the bases…
It is a tough problem for a great game with so many infantry versions
I still haven’t committed to one idea over another yet, but for now regular infantry and mountain infantry scuplts I like, so they get to go straight on the board. For militia I use the white Dutch infantry sculpt because they stand out, so that no-one should ever move them out of their territory. I then painted their base to the colour of the nation they belong to.
Not sure what to do with marines, elites, airbourne, blackshirts, volkstrum etc etc yet.
I have the flat tokens for now but we find they keep getting overlooked a lot.
If someone brings out a generic colour scheme that we can all use it would make videos easier to see whats going on.

RE: Taking the USA Peacetime Bonus Income too literally??
Thank you kindly!!
Id actually overlooked the 1d12 a turn bonus, so its not all doom and gloom for my USA opponent after all!
Thanks Rank Carcass -
Taking the USA Peacetime Bonus Income too literally??
Please help.
Currently going through our first run through using 1939 scenario.
The UK foolishly declared war on Japan and attacked them in Jan 1940. Naturally Japan made combat moves against them on its turn in July 1940.On the USA chart it states a 5D12 income rise when JAPAN declares war on UK. As this wasn’t the case, does the USA now sit back with the possibility of not being able to reach wartime income?? If not then surely it should read “Japan and the UK are at war” for a bonus 5D12?
Thank you in advance community.

RE: Grasshopper's 8 Sided System (G40)
This 8-sided malarky is preposterous!
It will never work!
Not until someone makes those lovely rounded d8’s with the nations flag symbol in place of the ‘number 1’. Then this will be one of the greatest tweaks to an already excellent game, and praise will rain down to it’s creators.
Until then….bin it…ludicrous.

RE: Chinese Speed Bumps (G40)
Great house rule!
We use an idea that came from General Hand Grenade’s gripe about the whole mountain range and sheer expanse of that part of the world.
- No units at all can move between russia and china via that border of the 3 most western Chinese territories.
- Any unit can move through Mongolia between the 2 countries though, whilst still obeying the Mongolian rule. This way if Japan wants to March into Moscow they need to tackle Mongolia or go round the south via India. If Russia wants to help China they either come through any part of Mongolia or they come via Manchuria.
- No other unit (apart from Russian) can move from Eastern Soviet soil to Western Soviet area, the roadblock is between Yakut SSR and Yenisey. That gives Japan the chance to take 6 territories away from Russia before having to head through the Mongolian pass (Dzavhan or Olgiy) or they stop there.
Feel free to comment, but its working so far for us.

I used triple AAA for a bit on single player until I deemed myself better than the computer. RE: Sired's Map project - Updated- 4/16 - files available see first post
Yeah ditto to FOWHEAD
Really keen to see how the vintage look will turn out, it may just knock the YG/Ambilzi Map off my table!

RE: Seazone question
Dont have my rule book to hand but if you bring the carriers in with the amphib assault then that is a combat move into the sea zone so nutty pilots may fly at you!
If you dont bring the carriers then can the kamikaze cannot hit transports. So why not move the carriers in on non-combat!
Sweet move. I would call this a nice loophole in the rules.

RE: Young Grasshopper's G40 House Rules
HEY! You cheated! It’s been edited since I printed it! 😊🙄
Shame about those guinea pigs though, I met Larry harris for coffee last night as he was passing through my road and he said that splitting the commonwealth into 2 playable factions in pacific 40 was his biggest regret. Tell that to your chums. They are dishonouring Larry by not listening to you!

RE: Young Grasshopper's G40 House Rules
Hey YG
Printed your house rules from the website, thanks. They are great.
What happened to your house rule of combining U.K. PAC with Anzac? I liked that a lot, you scrapped it?
Also, your rules read that the U.K. PAC N.O. gets 12ipc units placed on london? How is that a pacific advantage?
Cheers as always

RE: Sired's card deck -NOW AVAILABLE-
Oh just found another slight inaccuracy…
The German National obj. for the Scandinavia trade 5 IPCs Should read:
5 IPCs if Germany controls both Denmark and Norway while Sweden is neither pro-Allies nor Allies-controlled.
If Germany did take Sweden they can still get the 5IPCs…
Also, ‘economy’ is spelt wrong at the bottom of the convoy disruption cards. The title of these cards also has ‘disruption’ spelt incorrectly.

RE: Sired's card deck -NOW AVAILABLE-
Really first class deck. Cards are all the rage these days and the rules to help newcomers is a great addition.
Thank you. Downloaded them today, printing next week.
You did say to yell out any mistakes.
I couldn’t see anyone post this above but a quick glance today revealed that you spelt Burma wrong on the Chinese deck.
Cheers again

RE: 1939 Setup is finally here!
I was really excited to see that we finally get the 1939 setup charts, but after spending a bit of cash getting the 1936 setup charts printed ready for gameplay, I am now discovering quite a few changes to the 1936 setups in the revised 1.2 version.
For example
Italy has many changes to the sea zones that have naval bases and ships in them.
I’m sure the Taranto list of ships should say 51 not 50, but further down in the dedicated sea zone 50 line the transport has disappeared, initially I thought this may have been a revision but after seeing other last lines ‘disappear’ on other setup chart boxes, I’m convinced that the size of the box has shrunk slightly and caused the last line to not be displayed (see France’s box that explains Colonial infantry for example).Who can confirm these typos or revisions……I have a few to query.
Thanks all

RE: Incorporating Global War 1939 units into Axis And Allies Global 2nd Edition
I’ve just bought the 1936 map, a few expansions and then wondered where the 1939 setup was once i printed all the reference charts.
Ive emailed HBG direct asking this and then I found this thread….
However, the map is fantastic and I may just play 1936 until they sort out the 39 setup…
C’mon HBG give us the alternate setup, please!!!

Subs vs loaded carrier question
Just when you think you know the rules backward, a new player asks a question that gets you thinking and doubts your knowledge and/or the rules themselves.
SCENARIO
There are just 2 fully operational JAPANESE carriers with planes on board that are attacked at wake island Sea zone by only 2 US subs.
Wake island is owned by US.
when the battle commences I’m under the impression that the planes take off from the carrier to fight. But why the hell should they?!?! They cant hit the subs and if the carriers are damaged they cant land back on them or land on Wake island and there are no other carriers in neighbouring sea zones. Therefore any damaged or even destroyed carriers mean that all planes are lost too.Why wouldnt the planes just stay on the carriers as cargo in the hope that the carriers are just damaged in the fight and are then trapped on board until the carriers can limp away for repair?
I bet this has been asked before but this is one massive forum to try and search through nowadays!!
Thank you in advance

RE: The Cliffside Bunker House Rules
Great new twist to your house rules by speeding up gameplay. Love it.
So just to confirm, for example you could be a few rounds into the game and you will have scenarios for example, where a german force and a japanese force can enter a Russian territory in Combat movement and combine their attack rolls during Combat phase?
Cheers
