The moment there are more than 3 transports in SZ 6 I would be alarmed. A standard J1 moves the fleet south to take DEI, if there were a decent amount of warships in SZ6, as in more than I could sink with my starting fleet, I would do the block.

RE: Ok We Give Up
US “fleet” such as it is at start cannot make Carolines until turn 3. Philippines can fall J1.
I’ve had input from basically one person on what you buy as US1/2/3. And according to his post he will have his starting navy, +1 more carrier, and 500 DD’s and LC’s.
Depends on what J places on Carolines for turn 2 or 3 US capture, but carolines is worthless to the US anyway. Queensland is where you want the US fleet.
And believe it or not, destroyers rock everything dollar for dollar aside from subs attack better, and land based fighters.

RE: Ok We Give Up
when TripleA is fully functional for Pac40 you got it. I’m not dicking around with Abattlemap for 12 hours.
So sometime next year. Welp best of luck to ya.

RE: Air Bases-Do they create super stacks?
Yes they create superstacks, but they can be ignored. If Japan is relying on a superstack at Car just send your fleet to SZ 54 as the US. From there you can hit Phi, DEI, or Car, and the best part? Japan planes can’t reach you without a closer LZ.

RE: Ok We Give Up
I think you guys worry too much about China as Japan. On turn 3 there are 19 planes hitting Yunnan, and even if you are lucky enough to have the Burma road open for that extra 2 guys, and get some british units in with 12 or so Chinese infantry, it isn’t holding up to that attack. Are the Japan players out there too stuck in the ways of AA that they refuse to use planes as soakers? Industrial raids starting J2 pretty much take care of the UK buying anything. Money from the DEI starts coming in J2, by J3 you are getting 20IPCs from it, who cares about 1 ipc from a Chinese territory?
Again, I’m just wondering if you are US and Japan kicks it off on J1, what are you buying on US1,2,3?
Without getting crazy detailed here (as I have no access to a board right now) assume that Hong Kong, The Philippines, and the British Navy off Malaya, and the US transport at Hawaii have been wiped out. You have 17 IPC on US1, it’s your buy…
-
With the Yunnan superstack you are looking at around 8 China inf, 9 uk inf, 1 uk art, 4 uk figs, 1 uk tac, 4 uk mech, and 1 uk AA gun. Plus 1 ANZAC fig if you desire. Your gonna loose most of your planes with that strike, but knock yourself out.

the UK block of SZs 37 & 42 ensure japan is NOT getting Sumatra until J3, this is huge.
-
US1 purchase 1 DD, 1 Trans save 2. US2 Purchase (57) 1 Trans, 1 AC, 4 DDs, save 2. US3 Purchase (57) 1 Trans, 6 DDs. Repeat. Pretty simple.
Please MaherC, play me a game. I’m not saying i’ll win, but I bet i’ll show you a thing or two you didn’t think of.

RE: Ok We Give Up
Assume a J1 attack. What are you buying with US Turn 1, 2, 3 ?
Again, my group feels the game is Jap win 100% of the time (with 9 games played showing those results, different players etc. playing Japan.) But I keep reading how this is an ALLIED game. I’d like to see what you are buying / doing that we are missing out on.
Show us the general layout after said J1 attack. Show it in Abattlemap if you don’t mind.
The big things against a J1 attack are as follows:
- UK blocks SZ 37 & 42 on turn 1.
- UK can setup the Yunnan super stack, move all units in range of Yun turn 1, purchase 4 mech, stack it turn 2 with china. Your looking at 15+ units there atleast.
- ANZAC should buy a sub turn 1, 2 transports turn 2, if they are safe from carriers. Else, buy DDs to stack with US fleet, or subs to convoy raid Japan. On turn 1 if you have a transport drop on New Guinea.
- US must get to DEI area ASAP, turn 1 fleet to Pearl, turn 2 fleet to SZ 54 or 63. turn 3 hit the DEI, keep your reinforcements moving along that route, or go further east if pearl is vulnerable.
- US should primarily purchase destroyers, a transport a round, and 1 AC at most. That is all.
- UK should purchase INF primarily. Try to get ANZAC/US figs over there if possible.
- ANZAC should move up to Sham State with there INF turn 1, try to take Siam on ANZAC 2 for 5 extra bucks to spend on ANZAC 3. Along with the New Guinea NO if you can get it you get a turn with 21 IPC income, good time to buy that single carrier. Elsewise, don’t buy a carrier.

RE: Kill USA First
If your transports are not right next to the coast a simple SZ 7 block stalls your plan. I only think this will work once, after that your enemy should see it coming, I’m sorry mate. Its like sea lion.
-
RE: Kill USA First
Eh, if your transports are north its pretty obvious your going to try and kill the US.

RE: Question regarding damaged carriers
On allies turn, the US attacks my 2 Jap carrier3 with 4 fighters in Western australia. My one carrier takes a hit so I cannot land its 2 fighters on it. Since I own Java which is one space away, could the 2 fighters land on Java?
Or must I take the fighters as loses first in this situation. Thanks
Ok, your carriers and planes are in SZ 56. To get to Java they would have to move to SZ 42, then to Java, which would be 2 moves. They can only move 1, so they could land on Western australia if you owned it, but not Java.

RE: Kill USA First
Welp someone send me a message i’ll take allies against that strat.

RE: Kill USA First
A J2 hit on BCO would leave a max of 12 ground units.
With my plan, US has 4 inf in Alaska, 4 more ground units in WUS from starting, plus the 3 Inf, 2 Art purchase turn 1, and, lastly, 8 planes.
Your 12 dudes that landed would get smashed, easily. Now yes, you have say 4 more transports with 8 more units comming in with 6 carrier planes on J3. They would go up against the 6 inf/1 art purchased, along with the aagun and all those planes, not counting anything held back from the US attack on BCO.
This would be much easier to show in a game Stoney :-D

RE: Kill USA First
@KH:
Nice discussion going on! Thanks for the interesting input.
Vareel;
If you move your destroyer to seazone 7 (or 4) I would go for Aleutian J2 and kill the destroyer too. Further more in J2 Japan has not 4 but 12 landing units (6 transports; 3 at the start of the game, 3 bought in J1). I know USA is worth 10 IPC’s and not 50. I also do believe that if Japan fails to take US, it’s a lost game. Controlling seazone 1 and BC in turn 3 are crucial to gain succes. It’s true Japan much watch it’s back door, that’s why I dont’s buy 5 transports in J2, but 4 and 3 inf to stay in the homeland. Still the UK is no threat I believe. To confuse the US player, in J turn 1-non combat fase I place all (except AC placed planes) my fighters and tactical bombers in China (the land north of kwantung, max. 4 flyzones from Japan! important that is!). In J2 all these planes are heading for Japan. But no, I didn’t play out my strategy to the end. Meaning, I strongly believe that when US is taken Japan will win.
Other thoughts?
With you holding the Aleutian islands you still need to hold British Colombia for the planes to have a landing zone. That is why on US3 in my plan, I kill your ground units that landed in British Colombia.
As far as your proposed counter, Japan can just send there starting SZ 6 boats to SZ 2 on turn 1 and still take Alaska, then just NCM the other troops in, it will not work. Re-read my plan, it works.

RE: Kill USA First
The more I look at this, and think about it, I think the key to stopping this from working is to delay Japan from taking and securing a landing site for there planes. Along this route I think against a japan purchase of transports, and/or transports hanging out in the north, I would do as follows.
- Block SZ 7 with a destroyer.
-This prevents the purchase transports from J1 from reach on J2. - Purchase Inf/Art turn 1.
-Your gonna need 'em. - Ship 4 Inf to Alaska turn 1, along with landing 6+ planes.
-This keeps Alaska safe from a J2 landing as the most they can bring is 2 bombards, 4 planes, and 4 land units.
This will also allow you to safely counterattack British Colombia on US2. At that point Japan really has no method of establishing a safe landing zone for there planes on the mainland turn 2. If they take the Aleutian islands that is fine, as the US should be able to get enough units to counter-attack British Colombia on US3. No landing zone means no plane threat beyond the carriers until J5, at which point you should be able to hold anyway.
Any thoughts?
- Block SZ 7 with a destroyer.

RE: US and Canada
True enough, but there are already alot of special cases and canada has its own symbol so there may just be a special case i’m hoping :-D

RE: Kill USA First
WUS is worth 10, the US gains 40 extra bucks from being at war and controlling WUS as a national objective. Japan only collects 10 IPC a turn for controlling it.

RE: Another question about sea movement
However, the UK, for example, can not pass through a Japanese fleet, to unload troops onto a Japanese territory, which would be an act of war. If the UK, or anyone else, is going to make a combat move, they are already at war at the beginning of the turn.
While this makes sense and would be an easy rule to remember it seems to run contrary to the rulebook (or errata or previous ruling) which mentioned that the ‘first’ time you made a combat move against a power with which you weren’t at war you could ignore the presence of an enemy ship in a previous zone. That opens up all kinds of cans of worms, but that is what I recall from reading the book. Has this changed? If so, can someone point me in the direction of the official ruling on this?
Assuming it HAS been changed, then the basic idea is that if you are going to issue a DoW on a Neutral Power, you have to do it by the beginning of Combat Movement and thus can be blocked by picket ships. This would seem to make it harder to hit Pearl with a surprise attack. :)
yes it has been changed, pretty much you do the DOW bofore you make any combat moves, or atleast all combat moves must be legal assuming you were at war at the start of your turn.

US and Canada
Ok now I believe the US is not allowed to move troops into canada before war is declared. I was wondering if this is correct, as it would really help against a kill the US strat by Japan, and would make sense as well, if the US could move troops to alaska or into Canada before wartime.

RE: ABattlemap P40 BETA module
One other request, it seems the Korea/SZ 5 connection is no longer a connection, could you fix it on the map?

RE: Kill USA First
Have the UK begin to purchase fleet on UK1 once he sees Jap trannies are staying north. Focus on getting the UK income as high as humanly possible. Also, have the UK starting land units begin to push hard into china, along with the starting china units to kick japan out of asia ASAP. Do not fear declaring war on Japan if they are going after the US anyway, it doesn’t matter.
Have ANZAC focus on subs and planes. Subs for raiding, planes for defending. Try to make a stand with the US fleet at Pearl, this will keep japan’s fleet from moving back into position after the US grab for a few extra turns.
Get a chuckle when japan realizes western us is only worth 10, not 50.
That is really all one can do sadly. Also you can block with 1 DD, then 1 Cru to SZ 7. Without passing threw SZ 7 japan has no way to reach alaska delaying them 1 more turn. Or at least giving you 1 turn with war economy with any luck.
Edit: Just to add I think the best method the US has to stop this is blocking SZ 7, this forces you to land on the islands and use British Colombia as your LZ for your planes on a J4 strike. At the end of J3 you would have 20 land units in BCO at the most. This means the US, on turn 3, would need to be able to kill said 20 land units. By US3 at max a US player should have 3 inf, 1 mech, 1 art, 1 arm (starting) 2 inf (pearl) 3 fig, 3 tac, 3 bmr, plus 3 inf/2 art (T1 buy), plus 6 inf/1 art (T2 buy). Or 14 inf, 1 mech, 4 art, 1 arm, 3 fig, 3 tac, 3 bmr. Or 29 hits /w 63 punch. This tactic would allow the US to hold for atleast 1 more turn.
Now an easy J counter would be to move starting transports into SZ 2 on J1 /w navy. This is an interesting puzzle, but there must be a way to stop it. And even if it cannot be stopped, I think UK could take the win anyway.

RE: Kill USA First
Yeah, had I been thinking it even possible I would have built up a larger wall of INF with the US, and went pure navy with the UK. I got caught with me pants down lol.
Also, I probably would have tried to fortify Pearl heavy to defend the US fleet and hold Japan there so they wouldn’t have had a path into the south, at least not a fast one.
