Wait…so you’re saying my Chinese forces shouldn’t be buying strategic bombers? :?

@Brain:
Do you know if they have french customer service?
If yes, sur i would call, in the other case, i’m not good enough in english when it come to talk, i barely good enough to write!I don’t think those chimps understand English or any other language. They only know a few select words such as mana and magic.
“Hello WotC. I’m calling about my ‘Axis and Allies: Pacific Gathering’ boxed set. My japanese deck is drastically lacking tactical bomber creature spells even though I have plenty of IPC mana to summon them with. I am unable to summon more even after my initial upkeep phase on the first round, please can you send me some more japanese tactical bomber creature spells to help me out?”
Just memorize this phrase
“I don’t have enough japanese tactical bombers” ;)
Agreed, complaints in numbers always works! :)
But when possible I think people really need to call. Email is great and easy, but from a customer service point of view, it’s harder to ignore the person on the phone than to send a simple canned email response back.
I called back last night to check the status as it has been over 2 weeks for me and my missing chinamen, got confirmation that it has shipped, so at least that’s a plus.
Nothing much, I skipped email all together and just called them up on the phone.
Explained that I only received 5 chinese infantry and couldn’t even start the game as I was missing so many.
It was only chinese infantry, they apologized for the problem, asked for my address and such and told me they would process it and send out replacements. Before I hung up they also mentioned to me, I didn’t bring it up, that there was a problem with the battleboard and new ones were being made. They put me on the list for it.
I called back last week as I hadn’t seen the parts yet, but then informed me it can take up to 2 weeks to process the request before it ships, so monday was 2 weeks, so if I don’t see anything by friday I’m planning to call again.
I actually had to call them because I was missing some Chinese, odd I know, it’s being taken care of, but I haven’t seen them yet. I was told it can take up to 2 weeks to process the request before they get mailed out. Which yesterday was the 2 week mark.
Anyone else have similar experience with these time frames?
The ICs and such in New Zealand. For casual players that buy the game and never come here or call WotC they’ll probably never care.
For me, sure there are things that could be fixed, enough pieces is a MUST fix, but the rest is largely indifferent for me. Yes it might unbalance the game, but if you ever watch a game me or my friends place you’d cringe at our choices and moves.
We always play for social reasons, hang out with some beer, snacks, and A&A.
So I guess for me the game is still worth what I spent, tac bombers would be nice, but it’s still a decent product quality wise when compared to other games on the market and other things. Certainly better than a $60 PS3/360 video game.
Sorry to piggy back this, but somewhat related.
I’m still waiting to play my first “real” game with my AAP40, but can China invade non-chinese terriories?
IE if they had help could they assist on an assault to Japan?
Correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t a larger portion of the US’s military/production done in the western side of the US?
IE maybe with Europe we won’t have a similar 40 IPC bonus, a smaller one perhaps of 10 or even 20.
I can’t say for sure, but my understanding is the ships are much larger and will have difficulty fitting.
I think there’s virtually zero chance they will adjust the setup. They will eventually make 6 more Japanese TACs available. Maybe including them in E40 and sending them to those who ask. However, they won’t be manufactured until they make the TACs for Europe, if they haven’t made those yet.
You think or you hope?
I mean from a WotC business point of view which makes more sense to them? Reprint setup cards and send out more units or reprint setup cards? Yes you can argue “What about the fans!?”. I highly doubt they really care. At the end of the day if their are enough pieces to play the game and a decent ruleset, people will play.
They certainly won’t be including any extra japan tac bombers in AAE40, wouldn’t make any sense. Sure for those that bought AAP40 and have need of more units perhaps, but not everyone is going to own both and it would be a waste of money for them to include stuff in a game for a different game.
I whole heartedly believe that WotC will simply adjust the setup cards to leave an extra unit or two. That way it doesn’t cost them more than the incorrect setup cards they’re already planning to send out.
This happened a while back with the original A&A game, I (US) moved six infantry into western africa to help the UK player. Germany had more than a fair share of tanks, fighters, and bombers. My three infantry were attacked by 4 fighters and 2 bombers. Only thing that could reach at the time.
First round, 100% losses for me, he rolled very well. But his comments doomed him
As I got ready to roll he said “so, how much is this going to cost me?”
I proceeded to roll 4 2s and 2 1s. 100% losses of fighters and bombers.
Painful indeed when you consider the original costs for fighters were 12 and 15 for the bombers.
Is it a game breaker to leave it connected to Korea?
IE, I’d just assume leave my nicely printed map as is.
But what about San Marino? They remained neutral during the war… :-D
Can’t believe everything you see on TV, but the History Channel maybe.
It did say that a Cruiser’s role has become more of an anti-aircraft ship over the years, although it did hint that role change has been more post-WWII, but that WWII still had use of AA cruisers.
Maybe allow cruisers to defend on 4 when attacked by aircraft?
Sorta like the other combo rules with tac bombers, but this is when combined with enemy aircraft.
So a 1:1 ratio.
Enemy attacks with 3 fighters and 2 destroyers. You have 4 cruisers.
First round you’d roll 3 dice at 4 and the 4th dice at 3 as there are only three fighters.
If the fighters die before the destroyers, then you’re obviously back at 3s.
Hope that makes sense.
Come on…you know you want to!
Everyone else is doing it.
In all seriousness, it’s one of the best strategy board games I’ve played. Obviously it’s not without it’s flaws and there is a bit of a learner curve, but if you and your friends enjoy strategy games, it’s hard to pass this one up.
When you say 8 players and $160, are you referring to Pacific 1940 and Europe 1940?
My understanding is that when put together you’ll really only have 6 players, Germany, Italy, Japan, US, UK, and USSR. And again, you don’t need 6 players, can be played with two people using Axis and Allies.
I guess the only other way I can put this is if you enjoy this sort of game, it’s not a game you’re dropping money on and won’t really use again or see serious devalue in over time. If you take care of it, it’s a game you can continue to enjoy for decades to come.
So really it’s similar to my normal strategy…
1. Japan takes Alaska
2. ?
3. Very good dice rolls
4. ?
5. Axis Win!
I hope it’s an unjustified fear, but I started thinking about all the Japan Tactical Bomber responses and the whole setup cards not being available until Feb.
It didn’t make sense, they know specifically what is wrong with the setup cards, so issuing new ones shouldn’t be a big deal. What concerns me is that they’ve been “in touch” with the game deal on how to handle the Japan Tactical Bomber issue.
So…is it wrong to think there is the possibility of WotC simply redoing the Japan layout to use fewer tactical bombers and thus remove the shortage issue without having to make more?
IE adapt the game to the shortage to eliminate the shortage.
Again, excellent work, but you do know that you’re required to make a matching set when AAE comes out right?
I mean we have to have a full matching set after all…
