RE: Why are so many people building an Indian IC?
kwangtung, that’s what i meant. sorry, was up late when replying. and by ‘re-taking’ its own, kiangsu and manchuria are covered
LT, i just nabbed one of the US fighters from revised. it is now my new chinese fighter 8-)

RE: 1941 longer than 1942?

RE: Killing Fleets with Bombers
i’ve never had a problem with bombers being ‘overly’ used in killing fleets. it happens, but not so much that i’d ever contemplate denying them that option, changing their price, etc. the multiple uses for bombers just makes them a good purchase in general
that said, i really would be worrying about a players sanity if that’s all they purchased. mixed buys make for a good game
if you’re so worried about it, make your own house-rule and be done with it. i’d suggest upping the price again, rather than just saying no to naval combat. poor bombers :|

RE: Which nation could be played by a 8 year old?
she defiles your axis and allies?
… time for a divorce!
-
RE: Why are so many people building an Indian IC?
any nation can enter chinese territory. china just cannot leave its own (unless re-taking, or attacking burma i think)

RE: Killing Fleets with Bombers
germany used bombers against allied shipping

RE: Are you a Hard Core Axis& Allies Player?
i’ve only been playing AA50 since i got it. i enjoy it too much to be going back to revised or original
i’ve played 3 times in the past month, and hopefully again next week. it’s not too hard organising a game during the christmas break :-)

RE: I have chosen 2 good tanks from each of the countries in A&A anniversary!
no way was a maus worth that many tigers! it may have had an awesome gun and armour, but it was one heavy beast. and slow too! it was so heavy that it couldn’t travel over conventional bridges!

RE: Can subs attack subs?
yeah, a sub can attack another sub. the attacking sub still gets it ‘first strike’ ability, if i remember correctly. but the defending sub can then submerge if it misses

RE: I have chosen 2 good tanks from each of the countries in A&A anniversary!
i also read elsewhere that a canadian group claims to have fought against/seen a maus. but no proof about it. that’s why i said ‘apparently saw combat’
the russians technically captured both protypes. they pieced a complete maus together using the hull from one, and the turret from the other

this site has a lot of information on the maus, but only mentioned that the v2 may have seen combat around the testing grounds before it was destroyed. i also read elsewhere that a canadian group claims to have fought against/seen a maus. but no proof about it. that’s why i said ‘apparently saw combat’

RE: Why are so many people building an Indian IC?
if the japanese go all-out against china, then this leaves time for india to build an IC. obviously if japan pushed for india, or has a lot of forces near this territory, then it wouldn’t be wise to build the IC there
-
RE: Why are so many people building an Indian IC?
from what i’ve seen, it keeps the japanese occupied until:
a) they capture it, or
b) they lose the game
obviously it should only be built if the UK player feels they can defend it long enough, and that japan is spread out enough. i feel it’s a viable strategy. keeps the jap’s in the pacific and out of moscow
-
RE: After Action Reports
usa pretty much spent its time building a large airforce and adding a few transports to its navy, then skirted the western coast of usa/alaska, lurking. they attacked japan when the japanese fleet was a few sea zones away. the only island they ever captured was wake
uk held india for a while, as well as japan. but germany sunk all their transports, as as america was busy in the pacific they didn’t bother building any to replace their losses (which i felt was a mistake)
super-subs didn’t do much of anything. i was just pleased at how much more efficient the tech rolling was

RE: Plastic Playing Pieces
so it is. poor choice of tank

RE: AA50 Rules Errata and Q+A
good good, just being sure

RE: After Action Reports
Title: game of games (1942)
Date: 9th of December
Special Rules: played with NO’s and Tech
Victor: axis won, minus japan
Game Length: around 7 hours
Bias: skill level was possibily favouring alies a tiny bit
Description: japan pushed on china and india. germany went for moscow, re-inforced italy in africa, and hassled british shipping occasionally. russia attacked germany at every opportunity. italy did its thing in africa, then pushed towards india also. uk defended an indian IC as long as possible, and used airforce tactics to annoy germany. america built up a huge airforce and attacked japan.
japan fell to america due to poor defensive planning. germany took moscow eventually, then took uk with the added IPC’s. america should have landed its airforce (6 fighters, 4 bombers) in moscow to crush the german push, but took japan instead. we played on after russia fell to see how the game went for another round or two, but america conceeded as germany had the IPC advantage (72 IPC’s not including NO’s by last round).
Observations/Recommendations: russia’s stratagem of attacking germany worked really well (see link below). japan should have made defence plans at home, but was too busy focusing on china. america spent mucho IPC’s on an airforce to assist its fleet and went for japan, but if they had’ve diverted the fighters to moscow then the allies would have won by simple attrition. uk rolled long-range planes on their first turn, but didn’t use them to full effect. germany got super-subs turn 4, and jet fighters towards the end (after russia had fallen). definitely worth tossing a few IPC into tech rolls. germany also tried some strategic bombing on uk after russia fell. this worked quite well, as germany utilised 6 or so bombers, and uk was left with little IPC’s after repairing

RE: 42 russia defense
played a game last night, and the russian player surprised me (i played as germany again). she all-out attacked me EVERY ROUND! she attacked three territories the first round, and took two. this style continued until i whittled down the dirty commies
it worked really well too. by attacking, it pushed me back and forced me to split my attacks up every german turn and create more territory between my tanks and moscow
i did take karelia my first turn, and hold it throughout though. i think the only mistake the russian player made was to push forward when the territories around moscow were taken. i blitzed with my tanks through un-defended archangel and straight into moscow (with the help of my substantial airforce). also took caucasus at the same time, so russia was destroyed (they did re-take moscow with the forces that had pushed out in the russian turn, but germany re-took moscow with little trouble)
but still, one more turn and america would’ve landed a massive airforce in moscow to defend. so all-in-all, attacking worked for russia this time

RE: KBF
i tried strategic boming on a reduced IPC UK last night, and it worked like a charm
