we use the white complexes from the original game for the major and the grey ones from revised as the minors.
Glueing seems like a waste you could just stack 2 complexes together if you don’t have the white ones. The roofs lock into place pretty nicely.

RE: Game pieces
I completely agree with you, Zehkaiser, the Italian panther looks very out of place they should have given them the Japanese sculpt. Though I don’t know why they couldn’t of used the AA 50 Italian mold. Have they given an actual reason for this? They should also have given them the Jap art since it is more of a generic older model artillery gun. The french tank doesn’t really matter that much, but I guess I would have preferred the british model, at least they got a cool infantry model.

RE: Tanks too expensive
I prefer a 5 ipc tank but I can see the reasoning of 6 since we now have mech infantry. But a 7 ipc tank would be way too much at that point you should just get a man and an art. since they would both hit at a 2 and can absorb two hits as opposed to the tank that hits on a 3 and can only absorb 1 hit. I am okay with 6 ipc tank.

RE: Pacific '40 Achievements
We could strike “ramming speed” completely. It was more of an inside joke we had with my game group when carriers attacked at a 1 thath the carrier would just run right through a destroyer or even a battleship.
“Dive Dive” is meant to be an easy one to get but honestly in most battles I’ve found that subs rarely do submerge becuase they are either good fodder or are killed first round of combat or are forced to fight because of an enemy destroyer.
"Down with the ship we could make easier to get by making it include any land unit and a score of 15 seems fair.
“Fix bayonets” I thought of awarding to those gutsy 1 on 1 man battles that turn out to be a victory for the attacker. I must admit it doesn’t happen often but I’ve seen it a few times and I thought it deserves an achievment if someone is lucky enough to pull it off. Naming this one Banzai might make better sense as you said.
Laffy Taffy 3 is a reference to Taffy 3 a US destroyer squadron that fought off a superior Japanese force of battleships and cruisers at the battle of Leyte gulf. I agree that this would lead to someone just buying mass destroyers and killing a smaller force but this would probably be unlikely since no one would buy that many destroyers its not a good buy. Making the achievement more of an underdog achievement for the destroyers would be the goal I don’t know how we’d do that though.
I’m glad you liked what I’ve come up with so far. And if we get an official list up here maybe people can start using them in games and the first one to like maybe 200 points gets the title of being awesome.

RE: What qualities make a great A&A player?
Independent: Can make competent decisions when you aren’t there to help them.
Honesty: Won’t cheat by re-rolling dice or adding/removing pieces on the board when no one is looking.
Commitment: Will play a game to the bitter end and not just surrender when the going gets tough.
Sensitive: Will react accordingly when I get 3 out of six AA gun hits or win a battle against two defending infantry with a single man.
Supportive: Will support decisions made by ally and roll dice when needed.
Obedient: Will do what you say when you say it ie. will send British fighters to moscow when it is completely surrounded and only a few units more are needed to tip the balance in the allied favor and the only german reinforcements are two turns away and a victory will result in the complete collapse of the german eastern front.

RE: Ceasefire!
Im new here…whats happening? I dont understand this topic
I’m not too sure myself but it sounds like some people are talking about ceasefires between individual powers during the course of the game, while others are talking about ending the game in a ceasefire or draw.
I’ve called for draws before when the game seems to go nowhere and it is two hours past midnight and no one is in the mood to keep up the fight.

RE: Funny YouTube video about Axis & Allies
LOL, they must be stupid!
Here is an even more funny one.
I don’t know if that one is real or not but in my game group if we are rolling in a box and the die comes out of the box the roller must yell “COUNTS” while in mid air before the die result shows up. The same applies if we are rolling on a table and the die falls off.

RE: French Infantry Models
The Vichy government much like the Italian Badoglio regime was a different government than the original. People always talk about Italy of switching sides or France collaborating with the Germans while it would really depend on what you’re own view of the true Italian or French government was. The political entities that “switched sides” were very different than the ones that were on the original side in the first place. All governments had ties to both the French and Italian culture. When we get into the politics of the era it becomes less of a game and more of a historical diagram. I see what Larry was trying to do by keeping things simple and making France and Italy stay Allied and Axis respectively and perhaps simplicity is best. Besides people can always add their own house Vichy rules if they get bored.

Two AA gun questions
1. Can I move an AA gun during nom combat into a territory I just conquered?
2. Can AA guns be built anywhere or only a territory with an IC?
PS: Has anyone actually destroyed one of these buggers while on a transport?

Caspian Sea
I was wondering if anyone has anyone built a Russian ship in the Caspian Sea, I know that it is technically not a sea zone but I wouldn’t object if someone tried to place a ship there. Me and my game group have often joked about placing a battleship there back in revised that could bombard the caucasus if it fell but never actually did it. I was just wondering if anyone else ever had the idea or actually tried it in any Axis and Allies game.

RE: Pacific '40 Achievements
Yeah I meant them all to be general for all players except of course for “I shall return”. I wasn’t sure whether “Damn the Torpedoes” and “Defended the Runway” should be cumulative or not but they’d be more challenging if they were in the same battle so I’d say they should be achieved all in the same battle.

RE: Invasion of Mongolia
Once the allies had Japan surrounded and the US just shrugged and said what the heck and invaded Mongolia. Only time I saw it invaded.

RE: US Strategy
This sounds like a pretty decent strategy but what if the japanese player puts one destroyer in sea of japan and had 10-15 fighters in japan combat would last one round Japan would lose one destroyer and the US would lose 6-8 subs at that point attacking wouldn’t be worth it and japan would be safe for a long time.

yay :-D thanks a bunch

RE: Iwo Jima
Yes the holding of Iwo Jima inspires 1million man hours of work in the Japanese homeland and when it is captured they get discouraged and leave their jobs.

RE: Iwo Jima
I noticed that too it might be an error but I don’t think anyone has addressed it.

RE: Best WW2 Videogame you have played!
Medal of Honor Frontline you essentially play as James Bond in WWII
Medal Of Honor: Alllied Assault
The best Omaha beach mission of any FPS.
Very true Allied Assault was really good the last level was a bit anti-climactic but the D-Day and operation torch missions were really cool.

RE: New Pacific Series
I don’t know what to think of this series the intro and music are really good. The fight scenes are well done and realistic, I especially liked the Guadalcanal episode glad they showed Savo Island in the distance. But I don’t think it had those emotional moments like BoB did like Speir’s run to I company or the bombardment of Bastogne. I just don’t feel for the characters in the Pacific as much as the ones in BoB.
