      @Chi:

So again the question is asked, the standard/default game, 1941 with no optional rules and therefore without National Objectives does the default game favor the Allies?  I’m curious what you all think?

Most players here agree that w/o optional rules allies have advantage in -41, and with NOs 41 is favored to axis.

I think you can win against me if you play axis and I’m allies in 41 w/o optional rules. I lost a couple of games with this setting.

With NOs on, I don’t think you will win against me anymore than you will win against me or other decent players if you are axis in Revised playing w/o bids.

If I had my druthers, I would do the following with China

      1)  China gets 1 Infantry for every 2 Territories it owns at ANY point that turn (China’s turn, not a game round).  These territories are counted at the end of China’s Non-Combat Movement.  This at least gives China a bonus for liberating a territory!

      2)  China collects 1 IPC per territory it owns at the end of its turn.  It has no capitol, therefore, it cannot lose it’s treasury.  It can, however, build an industrial complex to build units on if it wants too. (Probably a moot point, but the time you get 15 IPC, you won’t have any Chinese territories or units!

      O

When I lived in Orange County Ca, I remember seeing the platforms for old ww2 anti air guns. Same on the “Queen Mary” docked there.

I think it’s correct in the game to have the guns. Because the nature of the game can cange the way the war really played out, america would have had many more batteries than it did based on the war. We did have anit air batteries but not even close to the amount in England.

For instance, in one of my games, my German airforce bombed the American fleet in the gulf of mexico. If Germany would have had long range bombers like the B-17 and/or carriers capable or bombing the East or West Coast, Americans response would naturally been to have more AA batteries. That’s merely my speculation though.

you could, of course, look at it from the perspective of each side. whichever side controls the oceans, wins the game haha  😄

That non-aggro pact looks a little familiar.

But it should add this: the 2 signatories cannot allow their allies to attack the other signatory from their territory.

That is, for example, UK bombers based on Russian soil cannot attack Japanese units, nor land in Russia from such an attack from elsewhere.

The treaty should remain in force for as long as the power gaining the right to attack wishes.  For example if Berlin falls Russia and Japan are only at war when Russia declares war on Japan, which it can do at any time.  Japan would not have the right to attack until Russia declared war, or until it’s own criteria were achieved.
(Supposing Russia wanted to see a powerful Italy beated down a bit, or rebuild it’s own forces up after a hard German campaign, before risking war with a bloated Japanese monster.)

13 VCs is practically the same as 15 and 18 VCs. I don’t think that any side can recover if the other side holds 13 VCs. So 13 VCs is total domination, but with 13 VCs it helps for new players who can’t see when a game is lost.

For me, is always concession, and usually before 13 VCs are taken. So even with 13 VCs, the VC system have no meaning outside helping new players see the end. It’s not unusal in some of my games, that when I or my opponents concede, we don’t feel the victory is safe yet, but the other player thinks he can’t win, and thats the way it should be.

I know this article is more than a month old… and all Americans must’ve all heard this, judging from the fact that all Americans like to eat food and lots of it. 😛 But I ask you this, what’s it doing in a Conservative News Forum? I smell conspiracy! 😮

      My favorite parts:

Yeah sure, Japan subsidized weiner eaters and high foriegn weiner eater tarriffs by the Japanese are the only reason why we can’t catch a break in the weiner eater olympics.

Further, our government overtaxing weiner eaters and the heavy regulation of weiner eating has practically kill off any hope of ever reaching again the status of weiner eater superpower.

Finally got Medal of Honor: Frontline! I’ll tell all of you guys how it turned out! Omaha Beach, here I come!

Ah, finally finished playing the first stage of Medal of Honor. And what a blast! Since I don’t want to give a in depth walkthrough and destroy the entire plot and experience, I give my first general impressions of the game.

Graphics: Everything from the Omaha beach landings is portrayed vividly. Best of all everything is based on real time graphics! Just watching American soldiers in their mad sprint to secure the beachhead with bullets whizzing by and artillery smashing holes into the ground is a sight to behold. The colors are a little drab causing the backgrounds to blend in a lose detail, but I think that this fits in with the World War II atmosphere perfectly. (Saving Private used the same effect with washed out colors in the same degree)

      Score: 8/10

Sound: Hand down, Medal of Honor deserves the sound of the year award! The sound track (fully composed and orchestrated by Micheal Giacchino) in beautifully done and easily rivals the music in any high end Hollywood. Just listen to the music for Operation Market Garden and you’ll see what I mean. The sound effects are done just as well. In Omaha you hear every bullet, airplane, ocean surf, yell, scream, and explosion beautifully rendered. The “ping” noise made when a clip ejects from a M1 is music to my ears. The voice acting from the NPC’s is well-done and the Germans (surprise) actually speak German!

      Score: 10/10

Control: Absolute horrible! This is by far the worst default controls I have ever used for a FPS or any game in general. Fortunately, there’s a custom controller where you can manually assign bottoms to different actions, a definite plus. Also if you’re too lazy, there are a number of different configurations to choose from. Still, I much rather use the mouse and keyboard, which MoH does not support.

      Score: 6/10

Replay Value: Can’t say yet since I’m still on the first level. But I’m definitely going to play this mission again! Kinda disappointed there was no multiplayer.

Difficulty: Hard! What can I say, the very first level is D-Day! Even on normal I died several times due from strafing runs, artillery blast, and machine gun fire. And the worst part is that you can’t save during missions! Ouch. The good part is that there’s plenty of health packs scattered throughout the level, though getting them often means risking yourself in the line of fire. The enemy is pretty good, dodging behind corners and all, but so far my real enemy is those darn bunkers!

      Score: n/a

Story: From what I can tell you’re thrown into the heart of D-Day. The game’s intro and instruction booklet story tell the prologue to the game wonderfully. Though the game is centered on stealing an experimental bomber, time will tell who to unravels.

      Score: n/a

Gameplay: Now this is where are the action is! Once you mapped out the controls to your ability, prepare for some serious action. Don’t want to ruin much, but prepare for some white-knuckle action! Medal of Honor isn’t the “let’s kill everybody” sort of game but much more meaningful and objective based. Here you have to provide covering fire for squad mates, rescue trapped engineers, clear trenches, capture mounted machine guns, contact group leaders… and this is on the first level! The little aspects of the game is what makes it great. Though there’s no blood or gore, they’re plenty of heartfelt moments. Watching Higgin’s boats explode with all crews lost, mortar fire sending troops high up into the air, the desperate medic trying to revive fallen comrades, infinite death animations, bodies in the surf… it’s all there.

      9/10

Overall: 9/10. So far, the game was well worth it.

Pulling out of Eastern Europe is a deathtrap! But seriously, you’re screwed if you did and screwed if you don’t since you’re know forced to defend two separate territories along with the unbearable 3 IPC loss. But anyways, Western Europe is probably the most feasible and the most advantageous of all the territories to take with USA and UK. But if you can position your transports correctly, you can strikes all German territories at once depending what is the most heavily under-defended.

Basically my T1 for Russia is the same as yours mind a few exceptions. First I don’t place any inf. in the Caucasus. Why? Because Germany probably has better things to do with it’s inf like support N. Africa. Plus if Germany decides to I can just counterattack next turn, stripping German of 3-6 IPCs.

Second, I don’t use my planes on the attack on Ukraine. The inf. and ARM should be enough. Instead I use the Yaks to wipe out Germany’s trans and sub in the Baltic Sea and save my Russian sub and trans to help absorb hits when the Luftwaffe strikes against the British fleet.

      ?

how does egypt influence on the india factory.

For England the point is not about giving up a territory worth 3 IPC (india) in the sake of one worth 2 (egypt). At stake is how long the germans are going to have Africa (worth 10 ipc´s.)up against how fast the japanese is rolling over asia. And in the early game its England job to decide it.

Now the german gambit in egypt should be counter attacked with troops from India.
      as stated earlyer
      But then what ?

if this is the use of the last english troops in the area the ipc argument about prefering india against egypt could be considered. But its not.

This is the rare case where african factorys are appropiate . The english is building a factory in south africa, and if the course of the game allows it later, another one in egypt.

with this gambit , The german take over of africa is proberly delayed (the sub could have taken the transport- germany might not have bought an transport- there might be in turn 2 a transport as a valid target , and he could have lost troops in egybt ) all over weaknesses there means that its limited how fast troops is sailing into africa.

the german then have some though considerations.
the german mediterainan fleet might be sunken early in the game if the english can land there planes in africa, ending the african adventure. And as usual every troop commited to Africa is missing against russia.

if he goes all out after africa. He still needs a troop build up. And no matter what the english would have a very active role in the game, draving away troops from the east.(and this would give russia troops free ).

And if he loose or just give up africa
to england. The English can then stop the troop buid up there and focus elsewhere. Or gather trops in persia/ syria to make presure in asia (or on the east front.)

now the german attack on egypt is a gambit, because the counter attack puts england in a more active posistion and shortend the german hold over africa. but without a south african and/or egyptian factory its not that much of a gambit.

summary: The germans should not do the egypt attack, but build up in libia.
And therefore the english can get troops to reinforce India. (Also a rusian fighter might land there and still participate in attack on cacasus or ukraine in round 2- but then if germans do egypt, russia will loose a fighter to japan if the english counter attack egypt is this worth it ?). and this means that a first round attack on india from Japan is very unlikely (and unvise).

      with regards
      Jondifool
