    • RE: Bombing by Average

      @GEN-MANSTEIN
      How about this attempt:

After the AA gun hits (targeted - roll for each plane) the owner of the hit plane rolls on the damage table:

      1-2: Half damage to IC
      3-4: No damage to IC
      5: Plane is destroyed
6: Plane is forced zu land in zone of the IC and gets captured (replace it with a corresponding piece in the owners color of the IC) … 😄

    • RE: Initial thoughts about a new map...

@Midnight_Reaper propably if fundamental game mechanics of the original game won’t apply any longer.
It was more a wishful thinking from my side. I’d absolutely love it if there would be more scenario based A&A games like D-Day, Guadalcanal and BotB.
So like for example a North Africa Campaign game based on hexes with supply line mechanics…
… but I’ll stop it right there … never mind 😉

I would like to have a board based on hex tiles like in Battle of the Bulge, but smaller hexes and larger scale.
So each hex can hold only one unit. Maybe larger hexes as sea zones, or keep sea zones as they are.
This would be a completely different game. I would even add simple supply line mechanics with harbours and trucks. IPC income are based on single hexes that represent cities, so no control markers needed. Captured cities needed to stay occupied with units … and yes a lot of new rules needed… and month or years of testing and balancing 😄

    • RE: Tinkering with Heavy Tanks

No blitz is fair enough. But isn’t no retreat a bit harsh? Nevertheless an interesting idea. No fooling around with Heavy Tanks. Its win or die 😉

    • Tinkering with Heavy Tanks

I got the feeling here is the right place for this discussion 🙂
Even this topic has propably been brougt up many times. And I am also aware that a tank piece in A&A represents a Division, Korps or even an Army and heavy tanks where only in very limited numbers within this military bodies, I am ever intrigued in adding the Tiger and IS2 models from AA41 into AA50 or AA42 … in a balanced way.
My goal is to have them as a real thread on the board, to make the opponent to keep an eye on them and to have a real new piece that would fit into any A&A game.

So, what do you think about the following ideas:

      Heavy Tank
      A:4
      D:4
      M:2
      Cost: 10 IPC
      Abilities
      Blitz
Fear: For each round of combat one hit dealt by the enemy is cancelled. This ability is negated by the presence of enemy planes in the same zone.
Limited Production: Production is limited to one Heavy Tank per round.

Of course this would mean that a single defending unit would be removed immidiately from the board, unless this unit is a plane, which cancels the Fear ability.

Any thoughts on the stats and abilities?

    • RE: Bombing by Average

Maybe the ‘damaged’ state is already too complex for A&A.
A even more simplistic rule would be:
If AA hits with a 1 during SBR, the owner of the plane must spend immidiately 5 IPC or the plane is lost.

    • RE: Bombing by Average

Now i got you. The AA player rolls a dice for each bomber. He calls to target the damaged bomber with the first dice. The remaining two may be tossed together since it makes no difference.
I’ve been playing AADD lately so I was already thinking with the concept of targeted attacks in my mind ^^

Damaged planes get killed on 1-2. If you feel desperate or lucky keep conducting SBR with damaged planes, otherwise repair them to be on the save side

    • RE: Bombing by Average

I would try the 1-6 chart to get all scenarios for bomber.

      1. Repelled and damaged*
      2. Repelled*
      3. No effect
      4. No effect
      5. No effect
      6. No effect
      • Damaged planes are destroyed with 1 or 2.
Damaged planes can be repaired as their action.

    • RE: New Neutral Rules

Well, I would see it quite contratry. If a power conquers a neutral state, the conqueror should get an one-time W6 IPC bonus that represents the current local gold deposits. But not before the W6 infantry defenders are taken down, which will arise in the neutral country.
