Cooking
Now that money is tight for many… the idea of eating out is becoming less and less popular. So, I have taken upon myself to get into cooking.
A list of things I have been making.
a broccoli and sprout casserole topped with muenster cheese.
cinnamon fried tomatoes
slow cooked eggs with hollandaise
Porkchops with peach and onion chutney
homemade chili
a chicken butternut squash stew
a tuna salad with celery, green grapes and roasted almondsI’ve been learning quickly. I am retarded when it comes to recipes so alot of it is guesstimating and off the cuff.

RE: Fun Times - LEGAL ISSUE ONLY
@Cmdr:
The news that Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich (D) has been taken into custody on charges of seeking bribes in exchange for an appointment to the Senate (among other allegations) fundamentally reshapes the Illinois political landscape.
http://voices.washingtonpost.com/thefix/2008/12/blagojevich_arrested_a_fundame.html
UNDATED - News that Gov. Rod Blagojevich is facing federal corruption charges is drawing reaction across Illinois ranging from surprise to sadness and even elation.
Authorities allege the {Governor} was intercepted on court-authorized wiretaps recently plotting to sell or trade Illinois’ vacant U.S. Senate seat for personal benefits for himself and his wife.
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/chi-ap-il-blagojevich-reax,0,3432193.story
From NBC’s Chuck Todd, Mark Murray, and Domenico Montanaro
The breaking news from the Chicago Tribune: “A source said today that Gov. Rod Blagojevich was taken into federal custody at his North Side home this morning.” More: “U.S. attorney’s office spokesman Randall Samborn said both Blagojevich and his chief of staff John Harris were arrested today.”The charge, per the AP: Federal authorities “accused him of attempting to benefit financially from his position to appoint Barack Obama’s Senate replacement.” Wow.

The above should be plenty of sources for the source-nazi’s in out midst.
So the question is:
Is it illegal to sell an appointment to the highest bidder? Or is it just unethical and immoral? Seriously asking because I’d like to know if he actually broke the law or what’s happening. Seems to me that Illinois can’t seem to get a governor to stick around for a full term in office if they have the “testicular fortitude” to stand up to Richard Daley.
Yeah it’s unethical.
Yeah it’s immoral.
And yeah, I pretty sure it’s illegal. -

RE: Marriage Age Difference
I got engaged back in June…. it’s going to be a long engagement though, for many reasons.
I’m 33. She’s 25.
Neither she nor I have ever cared about the age difference.
Now… if she would’ve been under 21? Yeah… I might consider myself a cradle robbing weirdo.

RE: A standing of a great man
Yes, that was a magnificent speech… better than Obama’s, I must admit. It’s just don’t expect this not to be a locked thread very soon.

RE: Odd question?
I’d rather of been Hitler and let the Jews go.
Then retract my army from France, North Africa, Poland and any other nation that is under German occupation.

RE: American Senior Citizens are Pampered
Shocking enough… I agree with this. It would be a good idea to raise the age of benefit -or- provide a payscale based off what the person made over a life time.
Yet I am more interested in taking elderly people off the roads. 9 out of 10 can’t drive worth sh** and if you ride motorcycles like me… it becomes dangerous to be around them.
This world is no longer a Studebaker driving 55 on a lonely highway. It’s 80 mile an hour interstates, SUV’s, and increased traffic modifications which many elderly cannot process all at once. You think that sagging skin, muscle aches, and graying hair are the only things to worry over by getting old?
Think about dexterity, piss-poor eyesight w/ fat sunglasses, bladder control, hand arthritus, reaction time…
Get the old folks off the road. -
RE: Oliver Stone's movie "W"
@Cmdr:
Team America kinda sucked, IMHO.
First of all Team America did not suck.
Second, you should take the H out of IMHO cuz there is never anything humble about your opinions.
Finally, ''W", though I have not seen it yet, is just a movie. And Bush himself is becoming a back drop aka old news… thank Judas.

RE: Margin Call on America
@Cmdr:
I pay $4,320 a year for full health, dental and vision coverage for my two children, husband and myself. It covers everything. 100% generic prescriptions, 1 visit a year for vision check up, 100% dental (includes all crowns, bridges, orthodontics, cleanings etc) and it covers all but $5/copay on name brand prescriptions.
Honestly, any program offered is worse than the one I have currently. There’s no way any government could do better, IMHO. Especially since my $4,320 a year is tax deductible (meaning my taxes are lower and my EITC - earned income tax credit - usually offsets this amount by a lot, especially when my mortgage shield is in place.)
BTW, that plan is Blue Cross/Blue Shield (huge name brand, recognized in every state of the union at least, I think internationally too) and is NOT EMPLOYER PROVIDED! This is just a private citizen calling the insurance companies and working out a deal all by herself, just like any schmuck could do.
You’re gettin ripped off. My coverage is better and cheaper. Tough luck.

RE: On oil prices and food prices
That chart ONLY looks at the waste products of the material after it is burned.
Which is where the majority of pollution comes from.
Since you are using trucks to ship the material, you are creating MORE pollution.
Here you are telling us using trucks creates more pollution…. no kidding… … Like that’s going to stop people from transporting any other kind of goods using trucks.
All in all, biofuels are doing more to damage the world’s ecosystem than any other form of fuel. In fact, it is doing more damage than atomic and nuclear weapons have done throughout history, and I include Chernobyl the nuclear plant that melted down in Russia. (Scientists are amazed at how well nature recovered in these areas and how fast, filmatleven.)
Go take a walk and have some lunch in Chernobyl then.
Anyway, every point I’ve raised is common knowledge. If you want to check on it, a cursory check should pull up the relevant data. I recommend using real periodicals and not blogs. DISCOVER Magazine is good, Popular Science as well, Consumer Reports just had a huge article on this as well in conjunction with the new mileage standards on hybrids and why their mileage ratings dropped between 10-30% into more realistic numbers. (The focus of that article was more on the damage caused to the environment by producing the batteries, but they also covered why pure ethanol gas stations and other biofuel stations are not found on every street corner.)
Magazines…. isn’t that another medium of media? I thought you say the media lies. Or is it only the media that says something you may not like to hear?
Speaking of which, who needs the media when everyone in the streets is talking about the continuous soaring costs of food and gas. I haven’t watched the news in weeks. Don’t need to when I can see the numbers on the cash register with my own eyes.Try to avoid sites sponsored or supported by The Seirra Club. It’s a propaganda machine and they have an agenda which is to scare us into buying into these off the wall ideas which they sell to the politicians who in turn send contracts their way to buy them. In other words, they are in the business of environment “enhancement.”
Probably a good idea to avoid buying into opinions on forums also. They have their own method of propaganda as well.
HolKann, you paint a more believable picture

RE: Hypothetically
If scientists discovered that a major planetary disaster was going to occur in… say… 60 years, and that the planet would be destroyed, what do you think would be the consequences? Last night while I wasn’t sleeping this ran through my head, it was like a Sci-fi movie. Everyone quit having babies and society collapsed, it actually seemed like a lot of fun.
Anyway what do you think?
Damn insomnia, I need to get some sleep!
I’d go to sleep.
Then start a sixty year drinking binge.
