Well, you could ask what the point is for any house rules. In this case it is added realism, if you refer to my initial post.

Seperation for Naval and Land Air forces.
“Feel Free to move this thread to the house rules”
What do you guys think about separating land air forces from naval air forces?
For example, all the aircraft that start out on carriers (TAC bombers and Fighters) are Naval air units which can operate on carriers. The Naval units can also operate on land, but the Land units cannot operate on carriers reflecting the special training required for fleet air operations. I don’t see any reason to make them cost any different, although if one did I suppose the naval variety ought to be pricier since it is more versatile.
This might help keep Japan from getting such an advantage in air power since they would no longer be able to throw down carrier after carrier for defense in later turns, but would now need to build the naval air forces required.
Just a thought.
RE: Missing U.S. unit types
The p-38 is not a single engined fighter, it has two turbocharged engines. I would have preferred a P-40 warhawk mold or like you said, a hellcat or wildcat, to better reflect America’s equipment in 1940. A b-25 as the Tactical bomber might have been cool as well.
RE: New Guinea
But you can put ports or airbases on Islands, including New guinea correct?
IF New guinea is considered an Island, it doesn’t have the IC ability to place a factory anyway, plus being an Island makes that impossible. Is New Zealand considered an Island even though it is not fully surrounded by water on all sides, since it runs off the board?
Did they split up new guinea that way so you specifically could not utilize the scramble feature there? It is a pretty critical area for ANZAC if they want to get their bonus money. I have had decent success with using the Solomans as an airbase to defend the fleet around it. It is defend able against the Carolines and also has plenty of routes through the back to Western US and Australia. It does require ANZAC to cough up 15$ for it though, which could be a destroyer and a transport, also very important.
RE: Triple A is AWESOME
My mac version has been giving me an java error. I am thinking of re downloading it and reinstalling it, which usually fixes the problem.
Does anybody know how to get the Pacific 1940 file to work on TripleA? What folder do you unpack it in?? Will it work on the Mac version?
Thanks to any with info.
