Sort of a Risk type scenario then, huh? You could do Eastern Bloc vs. Western Bloc (USSR vs. US, UK) or Nazis vs. Japanese. That would be an interesting matchup. I would bet on US & UK on the first one and the Germans on the second one.

RE: Please throw us a bone!!!
@Imperious:
Should have used AARHE rules: collection of IPC done near start of turn, so your only collecting what you hold on too.
Can we please limit this to what the game rules ARE, not what they should (have) been??
The damn game is not even out yet and I’ve read several posts from you IL, about how the A&ARHE rules should’ve been used here, or over here….
Easy there, man. IL is the dean of these sorts of things. Don’t criticize him, because he’s willing to speculate about the rules, even though we don’t know what the rules are yet.

@ncscswitch:
It is a game.
I prefer to have the side I am playing WIN.
Amen to that one.

wait you live the wilderness? The 395 is a 2 lane highway. I take it to goto Reno. Their is nothing anywhere near where you live? what the heck? Girl get yourself back the the city and get your hair did.
You’re so right IL. I used to live by 395 in NV and there’s nothing there (except desert scenery).

RE: Abbreviation for Anniversary Edition???
Sorry. I just made an assumption.

RE: Anniversary Edition at Gen Con?
There are a few interesting differences from the map pictures:
- Japan is now surrounded by a single SZ, instead of the 2 in Revised. This allows for US bombers to attack any ships there and land on that new Russian territory adjacent to SFE and Bur.
- Japan has a lot of hard choices to make: to take out the 7 inf Russian stack on Buryatia (after moves on R1) or to prevent Manchuria from falling to the Russians; to take Borneo/E. Indies/Phillipines; to hit Pearl; plus Burma/HK/China
- Egypt is tougher to crack for G1: running a calc gives G 73% odds of conquering it, where before 2 inf 2 arm 1 bmr gave it 95% odds.
- The Italians seem to have 2 choices: either reinforce Egypt or try to retake it in the case of a UK counterattack, or do the same for the Ukraine. Which would open the way for a German tank rush on Caucasus…i guess that’s why there’s no German INF on Austria, otherwise they could be moved to Rom/Bulg and the G transport on the Med could be used to lift INF for that attack on the Caucasus.
- G has the option of making an attack on Kar on G1 using the Finnish INF and the transport, plus all of the Luftwaffe, but the AA makes it risky. It can really pay off though because it secures the Baltic countries from any Russian counterattack.
The single seazone around Japan deters even more invading Russia and trying to achieve its historical objectives.

RE: Abbreviation for Anniversary Edition???
Because this is the 50th Anniversary of Larry Harris Games Corperation, I do believe.

RE: Axis and Allies Anniversery edition ( A50 moving up the charts!)
Thank you IL for standing up for A&A. Why is GMT Games (I looked them up and I had never heard of them before.) in the business of trying to put us out of business?! I know they need to make a living too, but seriously…

RE: First After Action Report of AA50!!
Wait… they have TWO dice for technologies? That’s something I’d hoped for.
-
RE: Abbreviation for Anniversary Edition???
@Imperious:
ok the agreed (for the most part) is A50
Actually, AA50 is what’s agreed to (for the most part). I’m not sure when you dropped the second A (we need to include the Allies, whether you like it or not ). Whatever it ends up being (and I’m not sure I really care anymore), it needs to start with “AA”, for consistency’s sake.
I agree Krieghund. Whatever the abbreviation for Anniversary is, it must start with AA for sanity’s sake so that noob’s (like I kind-of am) don’t get confused.

RE: Who does AA50 cater to?
Target sells Revised online for $44.99, but it has free shipping.
-
RE: New Allied Strategies for Anniversary Edition
True. We don’t need to hear that racist garbage on this website.

RE: Where are you from? Sign our guestmap!
I put the icon on my house. I’m the first one in my state. That’s suprising.

Players in Davis County, Utah
Who’s interested in AAR or A&A in Davis County, UT? I’m willing to play. Who’s game?
-
RE: Think K[G/J/I]F is over?
Agreed. That wouldn’t really accomplish anything at all. That would make Sealion completely certain (unless the German player was a dummy as well).
-
RE: First After Action Report of AA50!!
That is a good summary. I can’t wait to get it in the future!
-
RE: Think K[G/J/I]F is over?
BTW - Sometimes we play Russo-Japanese peach treaty (Russia can only attack Japan if Germany is gone/japan can only attack russia if UKor US capital is gone - though then the game is quite over ;)) - Any hint that Triple A also has a similar rule? (Historical gamer speaking here ;))
Likely not, but it may be in the national advantages section of the rules (similar to the Non-Aggression Pact for the Russians in Revised).
-
RE: New Allied Strategies for Anniversary Edition
Are you sure? It looks like it to me.
-
RE: German AA50 -41 strategy
Sorry, I made an assumption on what luck level to do. Sorry about that. You can fix it if you want

RE: New Allied Strategies for Anniversary Edition
Many people are concerned with KIF not working with Germany next door. That is the beauty of this plan. Rather than fight only in Eastern Europe, Germany must put more effort into defending the Gothic Line. This makes it easier for the Russians to advance on Berlin, and makes D-Day much more realistic to pull off earlier in the game.
