we each shot down a plane in the air battle and then your aa shot down my bomber which was guaranteed to disable the base if it hit. i still have some last gasp attempts in this game, could still go at your fleet with all the german air and hope to get hella lucky… but i should get back to some long delayed games that started long before this one.
FYI, I won’t try to claim a win by bumps unless an opponent completely disappears on me. 😉
Bump 3 for the win. I don`t like the idea of bumping to win but I do need to finish up some games as the deadline is approaching. I agree with what Gamerman posted to you earlier, so I will just copy and paste it:
_That’s 3 bumps plus another 72 hour delay, so I am claiming the win.
However, if you come back and would like to resume before the end of the league year, I will certainly play it out with you. And if you win, you will get the win and I will undo the result._
I will be more than happy to pick this one up again. Send me a PM when you are able to continue.
Also, if you can’t continue until after the deadline, let’s start fresh for next year’s league. I am officially challenging you to a home and home series - we’ll agree on a bid and play both sides. If its tied 1-1 then well do a tiebreaker for bragging rights 🙂
Oh and the other thing I meant to mention is it’s generally best to station several fighters in Moscow whenever German bombers are in range. I would’ve sent them anyway, but just having interceptors there can dissuade some people. And you might get lucky and shoot 1-2 down. The AB usually gives you the range you need anyway.
Sorry for your loss and no problem man. I was wondering if I should bump you again, but you’ll notice I refrained. 😉
I’ll take the win if you insist. I don’t know how much you’ll be in and out. But I don’t mind putting this on a very delayed play pace if you wanted to go that route. Up to you and how busy you’ll be and if you’re in the mood for playing.
I know this is pretty dated (1998!) and the colors hurt your eyes some. But read Don Rae’s essays if you want to be a more competitive player. And when you’re done reading them, read them a 2nd time. Come back to them after a couple of weeks of applying his ideas and then read them again!
He wrote those five essays way before there was anything but A&A classic. So not everything is applicable anymore (we have new units he didn’t write about and the values have changed for some of the others he studied) and some of it’s just written towards the classic map. However, I have yet to find a series of essays as well thought out and written as his are. Other essays and writings I’ve seen have talked about openings, recommended moves & buys, etc. But not too many go deeper into WHY you should make certain moves/buys and why others aren’t so great.
You should really key in on when he writes about deadzones, infantry push mechanics, and setting up stable fronts. The infantry push mechanic has changed some since you can now get mech that move 2 spaces. But the basic premise behind it hasn’t changed, protect your valuable pieces!
