In a group they have a huge defensive advantage and can still attack independently but in a combined effort. They have a bit more control that way, not that it helps at all.

Yes, absolutely, if it was loaded on the previous turn.

RE: Two Ideas for the Allies. What do you think?
J1, buy minor IC only, take Phillipenes and Kwangtung. J2, buy major IC for Kwangtung and 3 tanks for IC you built in Kiangsu all the while moving your J fleet south for the DEI and India attack. Let the US, Anzac and British fleets merge around Australia which should happen if the allies want to keep them alive. By round 4/5 you can see the end coming for the allies. And always keep at least one destroyer and some planes in Japan to counter any amphibious assault on Japan or Korea that the the US might think about. 7 games so far and all Japan wins. Japan always attacks on round one taking 5NO IPC’s from each US and Britain.
I haven’t been challenged by a FULL OUT conveyor system yet, something similar of course because that is all the US can really do anyway but none of the games have been close.
I am actually pretty dissappointed with the game and lack of play testing. If any of the play testers can tell us what they were thinking maybe it will help the Allies……but I doubt it.

RE: Transports
No, because the amphibious is a combat and AA gun cannot move during combat movement, non combat only. Krieg, can you clarify that for us.
-
RE: Transports
It has always been that way. Also, if my memory serves me correct, AA guns can only be moved during non combat.

RE: Any Canadians here from the Greater Toronto Area
Doh, in the grand scheme of things I am pretty close but not that close….London.

RE: Compartments for Pacific storage boxes
I went to the local dollar store and bought clear white plastic ‘craft organizers’ for $1.25 each. They have adjustable compartment dividers so you can make the compartments for the naval units two compartments long. They have a locking lid too. There is enough compartments left over so you can keep the national markers in one. China’s box ended up toting all the cardboard markers (argh, cardboard markers), anti-aircraft (from previous versions) factories (Monopoly houses work great for minor complexes) and any other left over items. Best investment I have made.

RE: AAP1940 Need help counting air movement spaces
A plane on an island takes one move to move into the sea zone surrounding the island, one move into the next sea zone and then another move to be over land and bomb the island. The only exception to this rule is if the the plane (fighter or tac bomber) is on a carrier, then the sea zone the carrier is in does NOT count as a move.

RE: IC locations
No. You can only build IC’s in the territories you control.

RE: Getting extra pieces?
I too sent an email this morning. I am sure my response will be quite scripted by now but I will let you know what they say when they respond. I don’t know if they tried to push the game quickly into production to meet the December release but for a game of this magnitude and price it is totally unacceptable to me that chips are limited, Japanese Tac Bombers are less than needed in numbers, incorrect battle strips are included, set up boxes are printed incorrectly, factories are now cardboard pieces etc etc. What I would like to think is that WOTC will make up for all of this with the release of AAE40. That is probably the easiest way to make their fan base happy, make up for it with AAE40……SOMEHOW.
Now, lets go play some more AAP40 and eat a bowl of cereal.

RE: Airbase/Naval Base construction on island
Yes, as long as it is a named island. Island’s without names are not playable spaces in the game and cannot be used for anything, even landing your own planes, troops etc.

RE: Neutral IPCs
Ok, so here is my question regarding Mongolia and the infantry value on them. If Japan attacks Buyan-Uhaa, I as the opposing power has the option of putting 2 of any of the allies men there, as my choice. So, does that mean I can use Chinese men or does it have to be US, UK, or ANZAC? If I can use Chinese, can China then move men into it to try to take it back after Japan successfully captures it or can China still not leave China?
Thanks,

RE: SIGN OFF HERE WHEN YOU GET YOUR COPY!
@Captain:
…… And, I found out they deliver to Canada from a Canadian address and the US from a US address. Sweeeeet!..
Mine arrived in the US from FMG in Canada via UPS. It was shipped from a Canadian address to a US address. Still….rather quickly, I might add.
Hmm, interesting. I am just posting what they told me though.

RE: AA 40 Pacific Setup Pictures
Please don’t tell me I just paid $80 US for an A&A game that did not give us AA pieces or factories but rather little cardboard flats? Please tell me this isn’t so. PLEASE!

RE: SIGN OFF HERE WHEN YOU GET YOUR COPY!
Got my two from our sponsor, Field Marshall Games, on the 15th. Way to give us the service we so desire guys. $80 us preordered. And, I found out they deliver to Canada from a Canadian address and the US from a US address. Sweeeeet!
Mine too is waiting to be unwrapped under the tree on the 25th. I hate waiting.

RE: AA42 Combat question
Therefore Saltz, keep that in mind in your strategies. Always, I MEAN ALWAYS, have enough infantry fodder to bring to battle. This is an economic war as much as anything. If you keep losing tanks and planes on hits because you don’t have enough ‘fodder infantry’ to throw to the wolves you will surely lose your battles. Unless of course your opponent’s buys are the same as yours.
Hey, there’s an idea. Have a war with no infantry or artillery. See how that works out. Might be fun, never know.

RE: Lets Talk 2 Types of Tanks
@Deaths:
I think they should be able to Blitz. you pay a Arm and a Leg for them, and generally when you move 2 spaces, you can almost be certain the first space would be on improved roads.
Hey, there is a new tech, improved roads, tanks can go three spaces. :-D just kidding!

RE: Re: Field Marshal Games Pieces Project Discussion thread
I personally don’t want the price inflated to supply fancy boxes or specific cases to fit into an AA box. If you were lucky enough to get an AA50 game then you have most of the cases needed for pieces with the exception of the new powers in the 1940 games. If you were not lucky enough to get an AA50 game then a trip to the dollar store solves your problems. Lets keep the price on these new pieces as low as possible.

RE: Why is AA42 being hated by everyone? I just bought a copy. Sigh.
Hey Saltz, you did fine with AA42. It is AAR (revised) with AA50 rules (anniversary edition) at a lesser cost. Play it and enjoy it. If they get around to reprinting AA50 you can buy a copy of it then, it is awesome. But not everybody has it as they did not print enough copies (in the opinion of those posting on the board that were not able to get their hands on a copy). Once you have a bunch of games under your belt and you got the feeling of the AA games you can buy AA Pacific 1940 (coming before Christmas) and AA Europe 1940 (coming Summer 2010). Once you have both games you can combine them into one HUGE global game like AA42. Have fun! :-D

RE: Thoughts on A-Bomb
Captain Crunch ,Thank you for yout thoughts they were well worded and well said.
Now any opinons on the system I mentioned for play?
Yes, now that you know where I stand on the A-bomb in general. If it was to be adapted into the game I definitley like the way you set it up. Taking a few different hits of development before you cannot actually implement it.
