Bombardment quick question
If you are doing a land Bombardment attack moving into a SZ that only has friendly Battleships and Cruisers stationed, and it all matches out equaly to support the land units on the transporters you’re bringing in, is the friendly ships envolved in the Bombardment too in your turn?

Leaving air and navy bases
The situation:
There is a navy and air base on Hawaiian and Midway islands.
A Japanease navy is in SZ 3 ( with no air base in Soviet Far East ), can the Allies ( US in this case ) fighter planes attack SZ 3 and land ( still allies terrotory ) in SFE leaving from Hawiian Islands? There is no friendly AC avalible. I don’t think it’s possible.
I think it’s how the rules read, if leaving from a navy or airbase, once the start of your move from that land/sz ( NOT inlc planes on AC ), you gain an extra movemant.
NOT, once you start your move ( prahaps with no air/navy bases ) you come along an air/navy base or several in variois linked friendly sz, locations, you can’t count that/those as an extra move can you to gain you alot further?
For example to be clear, leaving from Malta with nothing, your navy heading towards Gibralta, it can’t jump to SZ 91 into the atlantic, it must stop at SZ 92.Also, at SZ 98 to 81 with a navy base in Egypt, heading through the open suez canal, your navy leaving from sz 98, you don’t include SZ 81 as your navy base do you? Your max would take you to sz 80, 77 or72.
Just clarifying. Thanks.

RE: AAG40 FAQ
calvinhobbesliker,
Thanks for the very quick responce. So once an axis power goes to war with the US, the US is at war with ALL axis powers no matter what. It’s upto the US to attack that axis nation or nations to help out allied forces, or to protect themselves, basicaly continue playing the game being on the side of the other allies ( depending if by then, all allies are in the war…! )
US3…understand your answer.

RE: AAG40 FAQ
I found this link topic, so decided to continue the US questions…!
MUST the US wait till turn 3 to collect the extra 30 IPC’s…( unless axis don’t commit war on the US b4 turn 3 )…?
Once an axis powers makes war with US, how can the US choose who to go to war with? Meaning does the US player announce openly to everyone who US is at war with…?
Thanks…the wording in the rules makes it to me confusing. If you read German’s example, and Germans attack US, it doesn’t have any conflict with UK/ANZAC or Soviet.
Just trying to work around my US question.
Thanks greatly again,
Sala :-D

RE: A few questions/issues relating to first Global game
The difs between G40 and P40 with the relationship with how the US enters the war is that, there is no ( as I think i read it as ) rule that by the 4th round the US is in the war ( due to Jap attacking US on Pearl Harbour ). Reading the US political rules, it says that it may enter the war after the 3rd round. Would it be true that America could decide to enter the war whenever it likes, round 8/9 for example…( if of course no forced conflicted from any Axis player )…?
The E40 rules ( dif from G40 ) does mention Pearl Harbour to awaken US conflict.

Japan's GLOBAL Political Situation…quick question..!
Can’t wait to start playing, reading deep into the GLOBAL rules as much as possible, but can’t find this answer:
On top of pg 34 ( for Japan’s Political Situation ), near the end of the first paragraph it explains, “A State of War between Japan and France, or between Japan and the Soviet Union will not affect relations between Japan and the United States, and vice versa”.Understand… but my question is…
Will this also NOT effect the UK/ANZEC too…?
Thanks, appreciate the answer to this amazing game.

It takes a bit of TLC to make piece's perfect
In the new game and all that waiting, maybe we were expacting something TOO special with the price of the game…but alot of us were let down… But I think to be happy you have to accept and maybe as well adapt with some TLC.
So I used magnets, taking many hours on all the pieces and a touch of model paint.Strip Magnet: costing no less than $2.50 CND from Canadian Tire, or Home Hardwear or any brick and brac store…
All land units incl AA gun and fighter: a small magnet cut from the strip on the base with glue for extra secure.
Transporters: one small strip on the base.
Aircraft carriers: two small strips on the runway
Paint: Green paint to put a mark dot on all the Italian pieces. White paint to put dots on all cruisers.
So now we have a near to perfect game.
When Transporting, I have on the side of the game board a large strip of magnet the length of the transporter so now your transporter can attach to, plus your land units side by side.
When using Aircraft Carriers your fighters can now balance and stay on the boat.
Italian units and cruisers you can now identify them.
Lastly we put velcro under the board to attach the board pieces. Now it’s simple, but if Wizzard/AH/Larry put all this into respective, then the game where we payed under $100 cnd WOULD already have these things sorted out being the 50th edition, or even replace the plastic piece’s to more special like metal, which is going back to TG Moses VI posting on Plastic Piece’s. Maybe the next AA game will have us all happier ( is there a next…??! ).
Okay, leave it as that.

RE: Non-combat moves
Blitz…
However, if your tanks haven’t been in a battle and now you’re moving your tanks the full two spaces in non combat move, your tanks can’t blitz in non combat move. ( unless I am wrong if using the rules in the book ).
For example for kicks in '41…
Soviet played and feels secure by not having any units in Moscow at the end of his/hers turn and moved everything around countries surrounding Moscow, but however has just one infantry in Archangel, to protect the automatic invation on Moscow by Germany secure strong in Karelia S.S.R. by blitz with tanks.
(Why Soviot player did this was that on his/hers next turn he can re build Moscow and do other things on his/hers next turn… )So Gemany swings round and plays, a German tank/tanks attacked the single man in Archangel from Karelia S.S.R., and wins, the tank I know can’t continue to it’s 2nd move, it has to stay put, I know that is correct.
However, am I right to say a German tank or 10 tanks for example can’t blitz into Moscow from Karelia S.S.R. because even though you won the battle in Archangel, you can’t simply go on further ( even tho you have one more move with your tank ) through Archangel to take control of Moscow in non combat move…?
If this is correct, the Soviet player knew what he/she was doing leaving Moscow open like that.
Has anyone come accross a situation like this b4 with any other nation…?
It is a great game, more you play the better you get, and don’t feel shy to post a question here, we all have…!!

Heavy Bombers dice rolling
It’s great when you have these Heavy Bombers, but what is correct and nice game play when you attack with a bomber…?
Do you roll one bomber at a time ( two dice ) or do you roll all the dice at once to save time and pair up the dice to determin the hit/s ( if you had three bombers, 6 dice ).
I think both ways is fine, however, I suppose that if you had lots of tanks and fighters in a battle, you roll them together as they value the same dice roll when attacking of 3 ( and speeds up game play on battles ).
What do you think to this simple question…?!

RE: Who should play Italy in a 5 person game?
Always had Germany play Italy, as it’s the extra play where in AAR it wasn’t a case to think about what to do with the teritory in Italy that Germany had. Think just comes as a norm.
Or…let the two Axis plan Italy together, be more team bonding.
It’s like if it’s 2 playing Allies… the UK player would play America, or play US as a team.

RE: How to hold off UK?
Well, in my experiance ( as every game is like a change of the weather ) and I’m playing Germany in your example, I would keep Germany built up with land units with on the French coast’s solid, and keeping a Bombarbment happening a slim damage to your land forces. I would also make sure I save up enough to buy a good few bombers and fighters to attack UK boats ( or us if they come round ), it’s then impossible for UK to start building new boats cos they’ll get ( presumingly ) bombed by your planes.
Italy with low income, can be a good back up for keeping France occupied with land units of a tank or infantry or to push in towards Germany, or German forces on the Russian line. That’s my options, but everyone has there own strategy, it’s the luck of the dice like always in this game and the minds of your friends playing the enemy
 :-D

RE: AAR and AA50, 'A speedy game' Any tips..?
dkat106, thanks for the chart, will scoop into it when we next play.
Funcioneta to mention after the time’s up any extra minuet is a loss of an IPC…that’s a good rule!!
I was playing once on line A and A ( the revised board ) and against another player…and I kept on geting yelled at by taking too much time on moves and the player got winded up and ended up not continuing… I thought what a looser and why give so much bitterness to a game.
I am sure Larry didn’t start these games to be quick and easy, so us deep thinkers can’t be blamed for good playing can we…??!

RE: Hehe - Very very funny Allied victory… I thought it was all over until...
Playing '41, and I was Axis not doing very well. Germany was holding on with Italian back up.
Germany took Brazil building an industry unit, then in two rounds with new transporters sneeked into West Indies and held off Panama Canel in time for my Jap’s Navy with alot of transporters invading and keeping Alaska came around and took San Fran, then Washington through Panama canel, which then killed US in the game, then it was eventualy all over.
Japs was very strong invading UK, then Germany was home sailing with what they had with the backup with Japan in Europe, then China wasn’t strong enough to end the game.It was interesting.

RE: 41 or 42 which do you
We played for the first time '42 by the luck of the die to decide. I was a bit of que by us doing '42 as it’s brand new, but by the time it got moving, it was pretty good.
'41 is the classic and most players will know the '41 set up and moves, dispite the odd new things with china and Italy, but by actualy playing '42, I got used to it and at the momant, prefer it.
I found ( playing Germany ) '42 gives more friction between Soviot and Germany, and pressure on Japan to hold Hong Kong and Shanghi ( in China ) with China.
India is more open to Japan, and so can Sydney, while US is strugerling to get moving in the Pacific to attack Japan ( same as '41 really ) where it’s more of a Western Europe game in the Atlantic.
Italy is strong and if you do play it right, become really strong in the heat of moany rounds in backing up Germany with land units.
42 gives that difs between AAR and AA50 '41

RE: AAR and AA50, 'A speedy game' Any tips..?
We have thought about using a stopwatch to stop length of time for each turn, but as P-Unit have also mentioned, even if you try to advance your turn by planning exactly what you buy so you’re readdy for your turn, it can change dromaticaly by the time battle commences, which means more thoughts and time.
Reducing the city tokens will help as well.
But if you both say it’s a 5 hour min game, then we’re not too far off. It’s not annoying, as we all love playing and enjoy it, we’re all thinker I guess and want to make sure what we all do it the right choice, or right gamble, and no stupid or missed moves!! It’s annoying not ending the game to solve a winning side.
But thanks for the tips, we’ll put them actualy into action next time.
However, of course, if all of us were all fighting players and we attacked no matter what, then it would speed up the game alot!!
