    • RE: What changes to the G40 map would you like to see?

I decided to provide another post based on what was made earlier.

      Changes to the Map:
USSR would begin with 41 IPCs.

Impassable Siberia, this would be East of the Urals territory up to West of Yakut, this also runs through part of Mongolia.

Yakut, Amur, and Novosibirsk worth 2 IPCs now, Yakut has a minor IC on it.

      Impassable Gobi desert in China.

Some new Chinese territories, these new ones worth no IPCs.

Vyborg and Bessarabia worth 1 IPC, Soviets wanted these for a reason.

Novgorod worth 3 IPCs, Leningrad had as much Industrial potential as Moscow.

Create more distance between USA and Japan.

Add Azores Islands, as a Pro-Allies territory.

Eire is Strict Neutral and has 2 Infantry.

      Remove North Italy-France border.

South Germany will border France, this removes North Italy-West Germany border.

Remove the territory borders within the Sahara, they caused some confusion.

West Indies is British controlled, but worth no IPCs, instead it is part of a UK-Eng National Objectives.

Hawaii worth 2 IPCs now, when USA goes to war, a Minor IC is placed there, otherwise under normal circumstances a Minor IC can’t be built there.

Manchuria and Jehol begin as originally Japanese territory, Chinese units may go there however.

Japan is divided into 2 territories, each worth 5.

Manchuria and Korea worth only 2 IPCs, to counter Japan’s gains.

India divided into 3 territories instead of 2, Calcutta territory worth 4 IPCs, other two worth 1 IPC.

Malaya worth 2 IPCs now to counter UK-Ind’s gains.

ANZAC being given some UK Islands in Pacific, to increase their importance.

Yugoslavia divided into two territories, Western half bordering South Germany, North Italy, Hungary, and Eastern half, Eastern half bordering Western half, Romania, Hungary, Albania, Bulgaria, and Greece, West worth 2 IPCs, East worth 1 IPC, West has 3 Infantry, East has 2 Infantry.

Greece no longer bordering Black Sea, Turkey borders Bulgaria.

Divide Turkey in two, Western half worth 2 IPCs, Eastern half worth 1 IPC, West has 5 Infantry, East has 3 Infantry.

Rio De Oro has 1 Infantry.

1 Mongolian territory is worth an IPC, 1 Mongolian territory is also removed.

Less South American territory, particularly the small ones, and some that are left over will be given 1 IPC on them, Argentina is Pro-Axis.

Add UK a territory to the Arabian penisula.

Make Sierra Leone a UK territory.

Divide Kazakhstan into 2 territory, the one closer to Moscow being worth 1 IPC, the other being 0.

North West Persia includes a bit more land of Northern Persia, also borders East Persia.

Shrink Scandinavia a bit so the main area of Europe can be increased in size more.

Include a Northern Tundra area for IPCs tracking.

Give Germany/Italy Wolfpack symbols on some Atlantic Sea Zones, make all symbols on Sea Zones more visible. Wolfpack provides 1 extra movement to Axis naval units within those Sea Zones, Germany and Italy share a maximum usage of 6.

Improve Colour coding for all land territories, with actual terrain in the background.

Make Germany Dark Grey again, ANZAC Brown, Italy White, USSR a bolder Red.

Have artwork on Sea Zones, but not the kind to interfere with Gameplay.

Capital territories have a larger control marker on them, approximately the same size as the Marker piece.

      Add some more victory cities.

Rename many territories to simpler and more accurate names. Like Normandy Bordeaux to Normandy, Central United States to Louisiana Region, Eire to Ireland, Slovakia Hungary to Hungary,  Volgograd to Volga Region, Manchuria to Manchukuo, Jehol to Menjiang.

As for the issue regarding 0 IPC Islands in the Pacific, it’s honestly more productive to just give better national objectives for them, perhaps something like 5 for one group in the north, and another 5 for one in the middle, national objectives also represent propaganda victories.

      @t0mb0mb87:

      Fuhrermeister,

I know a lot of people were doing that (myself excluded) and it was really frustrating until I got better than the cheaters. I actually quit playing for some time because I really spent a lot of time strategizing, and to see every defensive stance fall like nothing was very demoralizing. I got better at knowing who was cheating though.

That’s why I stopped playing the App, the AI cheats itself (The dice does favor them, always gets one on me, with just Infantry), and players do the same. The developer either doesn’t care anymore, is dead, or has yet to release a new version.

      @Dukla:

I’ve got it but I never played online.I would like to try if you are interested.Let me know please.(if you meant the game made by Electrwolff)

      Dukla,

All you need now then is a Google play account. I will give you a way better match than the AI, just be advised that when defending you cannot select your casualties or intentionally submerge your submarines when defending.

As a general rule, if subs are outnumbered or very outgunned they will submerge. They will fight back against a single attacking sub though. There are various other rules that the hit distribution system follows that are generally intuitive but sadly not customizable. I still don’t know all of the details but am learning as I go.

My screen name on Google play is t0mb0mb87 (with zeros). I look forward to your invite. I really like the 1942 option with standard victory conditions. It takes more time than other options but it seems to be the most balanced and better reflects long-term strategy over luck in my opinion.

      Tom

I have the App myself, there is a little trick to cheat the game, basically when you’re in a battle, and you feel like ignoring dice results, all you have to do is let the rolls come in (let your enemy hit), then exit the game immediately, and come back to it after to the same battle, you can have battles with 100% survival to your units, so as long as it’s your turn.

I have complained to the developer about this exploit, but he has not been on in quite some time (nearly a year), so I feel it’s not being provided anymore support, such a shame, as I would have gladly payed $10 or more for his own variation of 1940.

    • RE: What changes to the G40 map would you like to see?

For gameplay, I would have Manchuria border not only Amur but also Sakha and Buryatia, the Soviet Far East is too static, and I’m quite shocked that no one here bothers to notice that (The point of 1940 was to open up options).
Maybe more VCs, like Kiev, Vladivostok, Singapore, but not much else, modifying the game too much eliminates it being 1940 anymore and we might as well just get a new game altogether.
Add a Urals impassable territory, with behind it a 1/3 IPC territory, that initially is just 1 IPC, but adjusts to 3 when USSR goes to war.
The only other things I would consider is making Eire Strict Neutral (As they despised the UK and did not want to be part of an alliance with them), and remove many territories that add nothing to the game typically, like most of those South American regions (Ecuador and Uruguay), Sierra Leone, and at least one Mongolian region (perhaps make one of them worth 1 IPC). I would much rather have less regions and more space to work with than do the opposite, even if said regions will likely never play a part in game.

Everything else is just adjusting region size a bit (such as Normandy), modify the North American and Pacific regions to border from opposite sides of the map (while still stating adjacent regions listings), make the Kamikaze/Convoy zones more visible, remove the territory borders in Sahara, and include a new IPC chart in a similar manner as 1942 Second Edition did.

    • RE: New Russian NO

You could modify it to provide only 1 IPC, but for every non-Soviet Allied-controlled territory in mainland Europe with an IPC value (The Condition does not require the USA to be at war with the European Axis) this could encourage the Allies to be more risky to provide the USSR more time and perhaps turn the tide. So if you have Normandy and Norway, that’s 2 Bonus IPCs for the USSR.

    • RE: Global 1942 (Revised)

Setup Changes were made for Balance. Slightly tougher Germany, more USSR options in Far East, Japan now actually sweats in the Pacific (Can’t do everything anymore), and I have weaken the United States’ options in Europe for the early game a little (To encourage going after Japan a bit), lastly, to give France an extra ship (Possibly) to work with. Please see the original post.

      I hope you’ll enjoy. 😄

      @CWO:

I’m not sure to what extent the USSR repaid its war loans to the US, given that the two countries soon ended up on opposite sides of the Cold War.  Britain was on the US side, so it had more reason to repay.

Part of it was repaid via providing the United States rare materials during the war, and later $2,000,000.

The United States later asked for the remainder, but only received  $120,000,000 until 1972, when the USSR provided $722,000,000, with the United States writing the rest off.

    • RE: Global 1942 (Revised)

Because of the inability for the Allies to realistically achieve victory in a single sitting, I am updating the original post to include new victory conditions.

EDIT: Gave certain nations an altered name, also the introductory is altered, the only thing important for you guys to know, is that there is a possibility of the setup being altered.

    • Simplified 1941

A basic PNG file map, with some stuff on it for new players. Map is a “simpler” variant of the existing 1941 game.

Adds Artillery to base game, removes Submerge ability for Submarines.

      Also, victory conditions:

Short Game: Capture one enemy capital. (This includes Moscow)
Long Game: Capture two enemy capitals.
