    • RE: AAP40 FAQ

      About the US ships moving to any sea zone, does that mean I can move to a japanese sz whlile not at war?

      I didnt know transports can retreat battle. Does the load retreat with it, since it’s commited to the amphib assault prior to the naval battle being resolved?
      Thanks for answering my questions.

    • RE: AAP40 FAQ

      I want to clarify my second question.
      For example:
      Japan wants to invade Hawaii. They send in a battleship and a transport with a inf/tank.
      The Hawaiian sz has a destroyer on it and two fighters on the airbase.
      The two fighters scramble to defend the destroyer, so it’s 2 fighters and destroyer vs a Battleship.
      The Japanese battleship and American destroyer are both destroyed leaving only the two scrambled fighters.
      Where does that leave the Japanese transport? Is it destroyed by the two remaining fighters? If not, do the two remaining fighters land on the island for defense against the amphibious assault?

    • RE: AAP40 FAQ

      Hi all, I have a couple of questions to ask.
      1- Can Anzac/Uk land fighters in Hawaii or on American carriers BEFORE USA is at war with Japan?

      2- When fighters are on an island that has an airbase and the ships in that sea zone are attacked, do those fighters scramble for one round of rolling or until the sea battle is resolved? I read in the book that the fighters scramble, but if the country is captured by the enemy the fighters have one more space to move. How can a transport land units to capture a territory if the scrambled fighters are still alive?

      3- If the Dutch East Indies are captured by Anzac/UK, do they recieve the IPC’s the island offers? I wasn’t sure since the Dutch and UK are allies.

      4- If the Canadian territories are taken over by Japan, are those IPC’s deducted from UK’s total income?

      5- Can US Ships in the Philipinnes move to or thru Anzac/UK waters before war has been declared on USA?

      6- Can US place the two men from the Philipinnes into the Dutch colonies before control has been made by any of the other powers? If it can, does it recieves the IPCs the island has to offer?

      Thanks!

      @sala33:

      Playing '41, and I was Axis not doing very well. Germany was holding on with Italian back up.
      Germany took Brazil building an industry unit, then in two rounds with new transporters sneeked into West Indies and held off Panama Canel in time for my Jap’s Navy with alot of transporters invading and keeping Alaska came around and took San Fran, then Washington through Panama canel, which then killed US in the game, then it was eventualy all over.
      Japs was very strong invading UK, then Germany was home sailing with what they had with the backup with Japan in Europe, then China wasn’t strong enough to end the game.

      It was interesting.

      WoW. How could he give you USA like that? Why didnt he just build a stack of men

      1942 Senario/Allies

      Russia was at it’s end. Against Germany it was at equal strength, but it wouldn’t survive a following attack against Japan. Both Germany and Japan were industrial bombing Russia to the ground. I could only afford 2-3 men a turn. UK was strong in India(14 tanks, 3 men) but no match against Japans forces in Burma(12 tanks, 4 men, 7-8 ftrs). Japan was two turns away from Russia. He had WELL over 20 tanks in Chinas last country…USA was building up for an HUGE invansion of Europe, but would it be too late? Thats when i made my decision. I moved all my 14 tanks from india into Caucasus. I used that with the combination of Russian forces to destroy the German army. All they were left with was 10 men in France and 20 men, a couple of art in Germany, and a second wave in Poland…about 6 men 4 tanks and 4 ftrs…Two turns later I took France and Germany with UK. On USA’s next move I took Italy. I owned Europe, BUT Japan had broken through and had double the pieces Russia had. He took Russia, but it was too late. He insisted to keep playing. I was like dude, i own two of your capitals. USA was slowly taking Asia back and all his money. All that was left on the board were tanks. Im talking about 60-70 tanks combined. lol…He finally gave up. He had me beat and I won! ! ! His mistake was taking all his ftrs out of the German Stack and making it easy for UK to beat him. Then he moved his 2nd wave into east poland which allowed Russia to attack it with all my tanks. He didnt think i would give up Russia to take Italy and Germany.

      So if Russia was able to put 3 men and all its tanks in the balkans, that means Russia was knocking on the doorstep of Germany doesnt it? Sounds like you were about to win.

    • RE: Mass American Landing on Japan

      I rather go after the two major jap islands worth 4 ipc and also take the phillipines. that way you starve Japan. At the same time take iwo jima so your bombers can land there and industrial bomb japan like hell. then invade japan

      I did take Karelia over and kept it throughout the game. He bombed that factory too…He had so many Bombers he didnt know what to do with them. I think Bombers are way too cheap…

      I also took Caucasus over, but Russia was threatening a counter attack so i pulled my tanks off…I hand no infantry to protect my tanks all game. only about 8 inf and 20 tanks, with 5 ftrs. Russia had 16 tanks, but at least 20 inf.

      we dont play with NO. Perhaps we should. Germany makes only 31-35 the most, because the allies end up taking Norway and Finland. That’s -5 right there. The Russian lands arent worth much except for Caucasus.

      @Driel310:

      @rpv173:

      He built a complex in egypt the first turn. I tried to take it with italy and germany but once again rolled some crappy dice. i eventually took control of africa with japan, but it didnt matter. he had about 10 bombers sitting in england i only had a couple of ftrs but they were defending my tanks. nothing i could do.

      Well if you AND fail to take Egypt with an IC on it on I2 AND you fail to take down 25 bombers in the whole game, than it has nothing to do with strategy but only with bad dice.

      By the way, I am curious how UK is able to hold an Egypt factory…, even with no G1 attack the axis should overrun this on the second turn… don’t tell me Japan didn’t attack those ships before the coast of India either…

      I killed his destroyer and transport next to india with two Jap ftrs. In egypt he had 3 inf. tank, art, ftr, and bomber. I attacked with Italy first with 3 inf, tank, ftr, art. and TWO bombardment shots. Both of those missed(they never hit for me) and I only got one hit with the rest. He took everything out but my ftr i retreated my ftr. In all i lost 3 men, art, tank and he just lost 1 inf. I didnt even attempt an attack with Germany. The next round he bought two bombers on the complex and the rd after that he destroyed my italian fleet.

      I want to note that since he defended egypt with everything i was able to take India w/IC in two turns. by rd 4 or so i took egypt over with Japan.

      @captainjack:

      My friend and I were playing the Allies and we amphib’d France with 4 ground troops and 4 figs; Germany rolled 4 “1’s” for anti-aircraft.  Not as bad as some of the others on this thread, but sickening none the less!
      Thanks.

      Same happened to me when I attacked Japan. I had 4 inf. 3 fighters vs. 4 inf…The Japan player shot down all three fighters but i still won with 4 vs 4…luck went both ways

      Since i wasnt able to buy enough units to send to the Russian front, Russia was moving a lot of their pieces to china. That kept japan busy for a while. eventually japan broke through but it was too late. i got rid of the american fleet in the pacific and the US player devoted the entire effort towards Germany…Germany was bombed 25+ times no bombers shot down. I send 2 bombers to Russia both shot down like flies…My cousin swears he’s good at this game, but all he did was industrial bomb me.

      Every round my complex would get maxed bombed. Germany was only making 30/35 so 15 to repair and i could only buy 3 tanks or 5 men. it was like that all game. Russia was out buying me

    • What was the luckiest/unluckiest roll you've ever experienced?

      in the beginning of the 41 game, i had 4 jap fighters and a destroyer against the one US battleship in Hawaii….The battleship survived with one hit on on it. I lost everything…And two days ago, i attacked my brothers 2 DD and russian Sub next to UK with 2 subs, and 4 fighters. I had to retreat with one fighter, he still had a DD left.

    • Strategic Bombing of Germany

      Last week I played my cousin in AA50, 1941. I was the axis. In the first couple of rounds he bought ALL bombers with UK. By the 3rd round he had 6 Bombers. By the 5th round he had 15 Bombers, UK and USA combined and they were all industrial bombing Germany. I would say a total of 25 Industrial bombing in the first 5 rounds. Maybe more…I shot down NO BOMBERS! my luck :o(…anyways how does Germany even survive this. I had Russia dead to rights by the second round, but because he had 15 Bombers he was getting max damage on my factories and I was only able to afford a few guys here and a few guys there. I wasnt able to reinforce the Western front…eventually Russia built up and pushed my guys back…I tried to industrial bomb Russia with two bombers, but they both got shot down…lol…A couple of days ago I played my brother. HE SUCKS AT THIS GAME. He never even plays AA anymore. Not for years and he did the same strategy on me. Is it that easy that any idiot can just buy bombers and keep Germany’s factories useless. Does anyone have a strategy to prevent this.
