The one and ONLY quality that makes a GREAT axis and allies player is ….
One who has fun playing, win or lose.

@Dylan:
I think a 2 or less is not realistic. Like I think an artillery could do more damage then a tank blast (3 or less,) like artillery are very powerful maybe even 4 or less!
It doesnt have to do with how much damage they do but rather accuracy I think.
Tanks are far more accurate and deadly than blind artillery barrages.
I think you called Z61 “63.” That’s the zone that borders Hong Kong
:-o You’re right. Another fix. lol
Looking at these pictures tonight I’ve noticed a number of things i need to fix. Dang.
Like what?
Mostly paint/line mistakes. Border in SZ63 that I messed up on. A couple of bodies of water in Eurasia missing. Border between SZ2 and SZ8 missing (from Ireland to GBR mainland). Border at the bottom of SZ7 sticks out.
And of course, I’m still waiting on getting my original control stickers printed out to complete the map… and glass for the top (hard to find in any affordable pricing!)

I agree. I think the Swedes knew they were on their on if it came to war with Germany.
The prewar Scandanavian alliance was hopeless.The Czechs/Poles received little aid.The
States were sitting it out.Who could they trust?
Back on subject,they would make the best neutral for the game.GHQ and Navwar make
Hungarian armor.The Toldi 1/2 and Nimrod were all Swedish designs built on licence.The
Bofors 15CM also.I have the Navwar types and use them for both countries.I wanted to use this for the NEW AA Gun re: Bofors 15CM . It is the only weapon used by all Axis and Allied Nations in the Second World War.
Thoughts?
Can you post a picture of what you’re looking at. When I try to find it I get so many conflicting pictures and 90% of them are artillery and not AA guns.

I guess that’s why they used the Italian roundel that wasn’t used until Italy joined the allies?
Possibly. It may have just been a matter of “Hey, which looks better to you guys?” in the boardroom.
Just as they used a fictitious roundel for Japan and Russia as well. The “historical” ones just didn’t look good enough or may cause some kind of issue somewhere.
All this discussion and the real answer to the original question has not yet been answered …
The “Nazi” logo is never shown on any of the Axis and Allies games because the producers of the game want to sell it to as many people as possible. By adding a swastika, they will immediately (right or wrong) anger a section of the population that may have otherwise purchased the game.
It’s simply good business sense.
I answered the question by saying it’s banned in germany.
Which is 2 sensible reasons why it’s not displayed on any of the artwork.
But of course, this goes along with the good business sense. Avoiding the alienation of any potential customer base.

Well, they were mostly independent, with the UK dictating foreign policy.
And therefore, excellent reason for Canada and all the other dominions to be played as the UK in Axis and Allies gameplay (besides the diminishing of the UK as a power by separating it further).
Rather than trying to find an overpriced copy of Anniversary to play, I would suggest downloading one of the many player-made maps (Imperious Leader has several excellent ones) to print out, printing off a copy of the AA50 rulebook (http://www.wizards.com/\AvalonHill\rules\AxAl-AnEd_Rules.pdf) and subbing in one of your older version of units that you already have from previous versions of the game for Italy (perhaps the old german grey units would be suitable for this purpose. You could even spray paint them an appropriate color) and using the existing Spring1942 pieces for the rest of the countries.
Saves a LOT of money (the cost of spring1942 and printing a map) and you end up with the same game (using different parts).
I just re-read the AA50 rules and we’ve been playing wrong. Apparently those units eliminated during bombardment CAN defend during the land assault. Oops!
Personally, I prefer that they cannot. I mean really … how can a bunch of infantry that got bombarded by ships then defend against the ensuing amphibious assault? /sigh
@Brain:
Technically, the Black sea is also part of the atlantic
Is that how in the game Canada is technically part of the UK.
During WWII Canada WAS merely part of the UK. As was Australia and many of the other colonies.
In what versions of the game is it that casualities from amphibious assults do not get to fire back? In those versions I would think amphibious assults would be or should be supported with as many naval units as the rules would allow.
I don’t know about older versions but in AA50, casualties from an amphibious assault can fire back … but those who are hit by bombardment can NOT.
Of course, you need one landing ground unit for every bombardment unit, but that is fairly managable for the attacker in most cases.
Having added cruisers in the pacific for the US taking islands is an advantage when playing both theaters and your IPC’s are stretched thin as it is.
This game is about military strategy and not politics
That is why the Wehrmacht symbol is used :-)
In fact, most of the roundels being used are not historically accurate.
I guess I’m done arguing the point … people will continue to have wildly varying opinions and I see no further point in banging my head against the monitor.
FMG will produce what they can, and they will sell it at a whatever price point they figure out will be best for the continuation of the project. If you buy it, awesome … you have helped further the project. If you don’t … that’s your right as well.
FMG stated they don’t want to repeat molds of existing OOB figures? Seriously? For heaven’s sake, why? :? We are paying for this project; shouldn’t we get to choose which units we want? I am buying these FMG sets to replace my Chimps pieces; not to double them. The two units will be incomparable due to detail and colour! They will not sit side by side. I tell you what - as soon as I get my Italy set, my AA50 Italy units will never again see the light of day… But that’s just me.
By NOT using repeats of OOB sculpts, FMG will support both your plans (to replace the OOB pieces with higher quality pieces) AND the person who wishes to supplement the OOB with extra sculpts.
By using repeats of OOB sculpts, they only support those who wish to replace their existing sets and those who want more variety are left out in the cold.
Quite frankly, based on this alone not repeating OOB is the best choice. Of course, as some have mentioned SOME OOB sculpts may be appropriate (the Bismark for example) in very limited cases.
*JULY 3rd UPDATED PHOTOS *
All I need to do now is put on original control markers and the glass/plexi-glass table top and the table/board is completed. I apologize for the poor quality of the photos but it’s the best I was able to get from the dozens I took sadly. Also, the pictures don’t do it justice if you ask me;
How I see it is a $5 profit on (1) item is the same as a $1 profit on (5) items.
And that is how they should look at it. You can’t increase sales by increasing prices.
Besides the issue stated above (gamer population) … FMG is not looking to make major (or even minor) profits. All they want is cool stuff and to have that cool stuff fund the next set of cool stuff!
Profit is not part of their business plan. Breaking even and having a ton of cool game stuff is.
