Spelling Mistake
Any chance one of the moderators can fix the spelling in our first forum name? Is “Annoucements” really the first thing we want everyone to see when the come to these boards?

RE: Meet Crack Spider
I remember watching these Hinterland Who’s Who about 20 years ago…well, not quite like this one I guess

RE: (Discussion) What other games do you play?
Cities and Knights is fantastic. Adds many more levels of complexity, and a bunch more opportunities to screw your neighbour. Commodities are added, as are knights and the barbarian horde. Fun fun fun!
It’s our preferred version by far. We still play the original if we are introducing someone new to the game, but other than that we strictly play cities and knights. 5-6 player expansions are great too.

RE: German buys turn one
@ncscswitch:
Squire you are missing some whole segments of this.
First off, you can;t GET to SZ7 on G2. You hve to kill a TRN in SZ12, which prevents combat movement beyond SZ12. And you have a major combat in SZ6. So after G2, whatever remains of the German fleets is in SZ6 and 12 after G2. You can;t link your fleets until G3. If you pull off some AF to kill the TRN to let your Med Fleet NCM through, then you weaken your SZ6 attack; and STILL end up with a fleet split between SZ7 and SZ6.
Switch, I read Squire’s posts, and I think he is suggesting that the baltic AC doesn’t engage SZ6, and the Med BB, trn doesn’t engage SZ12. So your combat is 1 med sub -> sz 12 and Air, plus rest of baltic fleet -> SZ6. Then non-combat AC, BB, trn to sz7 and land 2 fighters there.

How many fighters does Germany have left?

RE: (Discussion) What other games do you play?
Settlers of Catan
- Seafarers Expansion
- seek website? yes
- visit website regularly? yes
- participate in forums? yes
- contribute? yes
Yanny, interesting to hear you play Seafarers. I have all the Settlers expansions, but only ever really play the original or Cities and Knights. Is there are reason why you play seafarers over the other expansions? If so, care to share?
My play group has found cities and knights to be the most exciting and well balanced, with the original a close second.

RE: German buys turn one
placement was 1ac baltic (how many fighters land here, if any)
4 inf 3 art GER.- how many fighters are in WEU?

RE: German buys turn one
Why not play a 1.5 round game with each other? Attach maps after each round. Then everyone can see the moves as they happen and decide for themselves whether or not it is a viable German strat?

RE: New with questions
First of all we need to determine which version of the game you are playing, because the rules do differ between the variations of games.
I will assume you are playing Axis and Allies Revised (because you say you just bought the game, and because you refer to subs submerging).
This forum is for Axis and Allies the original version (not revised). I’d suggest you post this and any more questions you have in the Axis and Allies Revised forum.

RE: German buys turn one
There is a really interesting article on the fleet unification option over at caspian sub. Recommended reading for anyone interested in this.

RE: Axis & Allies XML
Yes, it would mean work on Mapview, work on TripleA, and work on any other util that people wanted to use. But it would also mean that everything would be compatible. I think that’s the goal, that I could use TripleA and you could use a physical gameboard and just type in your moves (maybe using a text XML generator).

RE: SEA ZONE-26, what the…
Actually you were not the “source” in this example, as you never referred to any sea zone as “useless”. Mork read your rant and determined based on your rant that sz63 was useless, the same adjective he would use to describe sz26 (as is demonstrated by him saying “another usless”).
Nobody is suggesting Baghdaddy thought they were useless seazones.
For the record, I’ve never used either seazone, so they are both useless to me.
Rob
P.S. I’ve never played revised, so this whole forum is useless to me :-D

RE: SEA ZONE-26, what the…
Sounds like you guys need an outside arbitrator for this one.
Although the word useless wasn’t used until talking about SZ 63, the context it was used in:
another usless
infers that the earlier seazone (SZ26) that was being discussed was also useless. Therefore, by inference, I would support AJ’s position in this circumstance.

RE: (Discussion) What other games do you play?
I’ve never played A&A Miniatures, but based on my (limited) knowledge of Warhammer, what you are describing is exactly what I assume A&A Miniatures is like.
Anyone?

RE: Cystic crypt comes to the zone
no i just always thought they(the military) would just take your gun and send you home not keep it.
Maybe the photo was taken in Iraq?

RE: Axis & Allies XML
Right now the mapping utils seem to only be used for end of state descriptions. But if all the transformations were included in the XML document, you could actually have the mapping util generate your move descriptions (combat movement description, combat description, non-combat movement description, etc.)
We are using TripleA to do this very thing right now, (since it already captures transformations) and I’ll tell you it works really well. Not having to type up your moves every turn leaves a lot more time to actually think about strategy.

RE: German buys turn one
try the channel dash, which rarely works since the american player can be an a****** and send a transport to algeria to block the unification. Like frimmel said, its hoping for the best.
If US uses a transport blocker to algeria, can’t Germany just take it out in combat with your fighters and still get your med fleet to SZ7 in non-combat?

RE: TripleA Changes for PBEM
2 bugs in triplea:
- Gulf of Mexico in classic should be a valid square, and allow placement their from the WUS IC, but it isn’t. Doesn’t allow movement there either.
- classic allows 2 aa guns in the same square. shouldn’t.

RE: Does a canal require a transport and another transport question?
So you can pick up units from Japan, move your transport from the sea zone east of Japan to the sea zone around French Indochina, and unload your transport there.
Is that right? I thought that you only could load and unload in the same move if:
1. Its a combat move.
2. You have an armour opn the transport. They can unload since an armour has 2 in movement.
Am I wrong?
You are wrong.
Forget that armour have 2 movement and infantry/artillery have 1. It doesn’t affect transports at all. If a unit loads, unloads, or both in a turn, you can NEVER move it more than that in the same turn.
Additionally, you are allowed to:
1a) move transport 0-2 spaces
l1b) oad transport
1c) move transport 0-2 spaces
1d) unload transportas long as the transport does not move more than 2 total spaces. However, you cannot:
2a) move tranport 0-2 spaces
2b) unload transport
2c) move transport 0-2 spaces
2d) oad transportbecause as soon as the transport unloads in 2b) the transport and it’s cargo can not do anything else.
Additionally, moves 1a) to 1d) can be done during combat or non-combat, depending on whether or not there is combat occuring with the transport and cargo.
Hope that makes sense and clears it up for you.
