      Thanks for the reply! Yeah, I watched the video after I posted (dumb of me), and noticed the new cities, new islands in the pacific, etc.

      I wasn’t too worried about the terrain features, if that was the only change. I could find some other way to represent jungle, dessert, tundra, etc. with my current map. But sounds like that won’t work.

      Not going to lie, that’s highly disappointing. Really disappointing that they’d do that to your customers who already shelled out $150.00+ for the current map, just to make a new one making this obsolete. You essentially HAVE to buy the new one in order to get the rule fixes (which are desperately needed), otherwise they would not make sense with the old map, or would have to be further modified/house ruled by individual owners. Just upsetting, because we don’t all have $150.00 to throw around every 2 years when they decide to update the map.

      Oh well, looks like I’ll have to think on it.

      Besides simultaneously movement, which is the big one, we also ‘relax’ the combat-move vs noncombat-move/unit placements. We typically move everything in one swoop. So when the Japanese player is done, UK is already complete save a few battles.

      For optimising simultaneous movement, we do this:

      German player do the Eastern front first. This enables the Russian player to move. The Russian player moves his Asian units first. This enables the Japanese player to start moving… Etc.

      Regarding looking things up, I highly recommend creating one-page/double sided “alliance charts”, which have everything in one place. As you start using expansions, it’s a nightmare to organise stats, capabilities, special-abilities etc.

      1936 senario we are using the add 1$ to every landzone and double for original German house rule and Russia is free of Berlin fall declaration of war restrictions. This one is so bizarre we are continuing even though its 1946 by the calendar next turn.

      Allies went for Japan first. Russia joined in and attacked allies for Chinese ownership. Us beat Japan down as a can opener. Then had Australia take all of Japan’s money and land (just because I wanted Australia to dominate the Pacific when America went with everything Atlantic). As a result Germany went sealion but was kicked out by uk when Russia attacked Germany. Italy has all of Africa and most of south America. While Germany is fighting with Russia. Its now a race, For the Atlantic and south Africa by US and Australia is taking China and Eastern Russia while eating up pieces of Africa, to liberate the UK its south African factory back. Both are out of position to attack Germany. Axis is using Italy as a screen similar to how the UK and French start the game, on the defensive to buy time, for Germany to focus on its only front Russia. French and Netherlands are eliminated they lost all possible capital locations on the same turn. When london was lost and Italy owned all Africa. Vichy was attacked to prevent funding the German war machine and became German aligned. Only allies way to attack Germany.

      Honestly the income change, only changed our purchase power per turn but was virtually identical in ballance of income across all players.

      Thanks Jinx, exactly what I was wondering. No ballace issues with a freelance Cominturn? Besides 2 different alliances possibly elliminating one together and turning on each other after.

      We agree with you 100% Whitshadw!
      Some of our early games had the crashing of last minute navies etc. for VC. But we value a cleaner, realistic victory and would play till 1960’s on the game calander again, to get one. Benefits of a covered playsurface allowing months of real time to complete a game. VC are only used if a restart is wanted or we declare a clear winner and figure out bragging rights.

      Personally I have created my own little diplomatic rule set, allowing for the ability to influence nearly every nation into any faction. Basically no factions exist and must be formed. With a predisposition via events of following historical paths.

      Very interesting! Curious if you want to share this.

      My current dream is to design and print my own map that would somehow make the impossible possible. A larger, scaled in version of Europe, where as keeping Africa, South America and all else on the map and not in inset boxes.

      Excellent Idea hope this works for you. Ideas like this are what got me hooked to this game type. So much imagination and creative action on this site keep at it.
